Gate to the Finals

"What exactly do you have instore for me master?" Hynroe asked me as we flew around looking at the battlefield that was entirely made out of the ruins of an old city.

"Well, Hynroe we are going on a search for the people that have the other gems that we are missing. When we get the missing gems, we can make it to the final round of this rank test."

"Then why don't we show them the strength of the magic that we wield."

As Hynroe dove down to the ground below where I saw all off the enemies through the enhancement that was actively coursing through my eyes, I noticed that there was an area that did not have any enemies in it. Instead of there being any enemies I saw a massive pile of gold cubes.

It was quite obvious to me that this was an illusion spell of some kind because only the gold gem that was on top of stood out like a beacon to my enhanced vision while the rest of them looked normal which was very suspicious to me.

While I was floating about one hundred feet away from the spell, I saw five different pairs of dark creatures run to it all at once.

I watched them all run towards the pile of gold gems, but as soon as they all came on top of the pile of fake gold gems the illusion deactivated; and it was replaced with a red magic circle. As soon as the red magic circle appeared around them, I saw a red barrier appear around them.

Since they were dumb enough to fall for a trap that was that obvious to me, I chose to wait for the possibility that whoever had originally set this trap would come back to claim their prizes.

A few of the people that were captured started to beat on the barrier with their fists, but it did not even crack a bit.

After waiting for almost ten minutes, I saw that nobody was coming to the barrier to disable it. Then I saw one of the other captives try to chant a spell, but the spell shattered as soon as it made contact with the barrier.

When they finally gave up on trying to break the barrier I flew down to where they were, and got off of Hynroe with the barrier right in front of me.

"Well, it seems that there were a few people that were weak enough to fall for such an obvious and simple trap." I said to them as I tapped on the barrier that was between us.

As soon as I spoke the students that were originally beating on the barrier to break it came up to it again and started to beat on it again.

"What do think that you are better than us." A male cyclops said to me as he continued to beat on the barrier as if he was in a rage.

"Yes, this barrier was very simple in design, and I will show you how pathetic this is for a barrier."

I then used a small knife that I had on my waist to make shallow cuts on my wrists in the shape of a four- sided star. After the cuts were made, I could feel the magic coursing through me, and as the pressure built up where my cuts were located on my hand, I placed my hand on the barrier. It began to shake and then started to shatter around me.

When the barrier shattered everyone that was around me fell on their asses as if they were shocked at what I had done.

I then saw that Hynroe was walking beside me while staying in her true size. I guess she thought that this was not over just yet.

"What kind of creature are you?" the cyclops asked.

"Wait I have heard of you before. You are the blood elf that was originally going to be the wife of a dark lord. Yeah; that is, you are it not? You ended up losing all of that status and power when he got murdered at the competition where you were challenged by other females that believed themselves to be worthy of being his wife." A female succubus said to me as she started to laugh.

"Hey I don't think that you should as someone that has tamed a dragon." The cyclops said to her as I noticed that he was finally back on his feet.

"I would not care if she has tamed an entire nest of dragons the power that a weak blood elf has is weak compared to superior races such as mine".

After she started to speak, I was able notice small pink spores that started to leak from her body. When the spores made contact with the male creatures that were around her, I saw that moods and stances change all at once as if they were no longer in control of their actions.

"So, if you are going to use your powers to ensure your victory than I will have to do the same." I said to her as I saw Sophia rise from the shadow that the enemy was casting her control over the others.

She punched her in the head which caused her to pass out, and then the enemies looked like the effects were wearing off. As soon as they were starting to gain control again Hynroe attack them with her claws without me even saying anything.

"Well, I honestly did not think that you would catch up with me, and what was it that you did to show up behind her without revealing yourself?" I asked Sophia as I started to search through the bodies around me.

"If I am going to be honest with you; I used a skill called shadow warp that allows me to teleport from one shadow to the next without being seen."

"I did not know that you had such a unique skill at your disposal. With even time that I get to work alongside you I will get to learn even more cool things that our race can achieve."

After I looked through their bodies, I found all of the missing gems that we needed to make it to the finals.

"Now that we have all of the gems, we need to find out how to get the location of the finals out of them."

I then flipped the cube shape over, and I saw a different number on each of them. The ruby had a five om it. There was a three on the emerald. The gold had a twelve, and the diamond had a twenty.

"Look there are numbers on the back of them. I think that they are numbers to a map location."

"If that is what it is; how should we arrange them to find the right location?" Sophia asked me as she grabbed a map that was around her waist.

"What if we sort the gems by their weight?" I asked wondering if I was right.

She arranged them in that order, and she found the location on the map.

"Those numbers are located in the north section of the fighting area. We will have to ride your dragon to get their fast enough".

We both got on Hynroe, but I made sure that I got on first. Then we flew to the location that we had discovered.

The arena was a massive stone structure that had a massive single wooden dor. The door had holes exactly the size of the gems.

I then placed them into the openings, and the door slid open. I was now one step closer to my climb to the top of my class.
