19. Meeting Shanks

There are still two days until the execution of Uncle Roger and I arrived at his hometown, Loquetown.

My arrival in the port, didn't notify anyone. It was just one ship of the many. And I was just one young tall man of many, who came to see the execution of the Pirate King.

First I tried to find an inn, which turned out to be more difficult than anticipated. As first rooms big enough to accompany me weren't that many and the people who came here was simply to much. At least more than a million people from all over the world came to personally witness this scene.

The end of a legend of this era.

As I was now inside my tenth inn and asked for a room, I was again rejected and was just about to leave, when I could hear a slightly depressed voice.

„Hey buddy, want to come with me? I may be able to bring you to a place, where a person of your height could sleep without worry."

As I turned in the direction of the voice, I first saw nothing, only after slightly lowering my gaze.

I was really surprised. What kind of luck do I have?

Meeting one of the coolest guys after the other.

The midget, at least to me, was a boy around my age with red hair and a Strawhat on top of his head. He was trying to smile, although it was only filled with sadness and grief.

Shanks.

„Sure brother if you could help me I would really appreciate it."

I smiled and stretched my hand towards him, for a handshake.

„I'm Yuno by the way."

„Shanks."

He shakes my hand and his smile, for a moment seemed genuinely happy.

„Then Shanks, please lead the way."

We then left the inn and took many turns. We went further and further away from the busy roads, and if I didn't know better, then j would think that Shanks wants to rob me.

But that can't be, right?

Right!?

Sure there were some rumors that Shanks might be evil, but I don't believe them.

But this is indeed a bit suspicious.

Shanks halted in the middle of an dark alley and turned to me. There was no sight of any entrance to either a house or inn anywhere near here.

Is Shanks really here to harm me?

„Uhm, Shanks what are we doing here? I can't see any doors, not to mention a place where I could sleep. Just where are we?"

„Before taking you to that place I just wanted to ask you a few things."

Hmm what is he planing? I hope I don't ave to fight him. He was on the ship of Roger after all. And he isn't like buggy a useless bun. But he will be the future youngest Yonko.

„What is the son of Whitebeard doing here, and even possessing the last scale of the Carp King that Crocus possessed. Furthermore showing of his Aura so wantonly."

Ugh so it was like this. Again with that damn aura, giving me away. And I thought I would have already somewhat curbed this problem after reaching the top of reverse mountain. As I felt myself somewhat relaxing after that day.

„Really what's up with that aura of yours? Why showing it in such a pitiful amount. If you want to show of shouldn't you use more of it and if you don't want to show of, then why even bother using your Aura."

Seems like I did indeed lesson my output of Conquerors Haki but still a little is lipping out.

„Say something."

Shanks got a bit impatient with my silence as he griped his sword with one arm.

„Ah, ah wait wait. I don't want to fight. As for my Aura, I don't know myself why it is leaking OK? I can't Ben feel it myself. And I don't Ben know when I awakened it. Only after I spoke with Uncle Crocus did I find out, that I was doing this. As for why I have the scale? Uncle gave it to me."

He visible relaxed after hearing me, but he started to frown.

„Uncle? And why would he give you his last Carp King scale?"

„I don't know, I only know, that Uncle Rayleigh asked me to meet with Uncle Crocus, after I told him, I wanted to roam the Four Blues."

This surprised Shanks.

„Uncle Rayleigh? You know Rayleigh?"

„Yeah, Uncle Roger introduced us."

This completely shocked him.

„You even know the Captain? But I never saw you before. And in the year the Captain was missing, he for sure wasn't in the New World. So how can you, the son of Whitebeard meet him? Ah but now thinking about it, why did I never see you before? If you are the son of Whitebeard, and with his personality, I'm sure he wouldn't allow you to leave his ship at your age."

„Yeah I know Uncle Roger, I met him after my mother died. He found me unconscious and took me with him on his way, we then travelled for around two month before he then left me with Uncle Rayleigh and told me he would take care of one last business of his. I then told Uncle Rayleigh, that I want to chase my dream, of seeing the whole world, starting with the Four Blues. He then told me to find Uncle Crocus, aw he could help me easily traveling between the Four Blues. After meeting him he then gave me a whistle and the Carp King scale. After hearing of the execution of Uncle Roger, I then decided to first travel here to see it and say my final goodbyes, as I couldn't do that the last time we met."

Shanks still didn't seem to come to himself. Only after a while.

„Sigh, so that's how it is. Still why wouldn't you be on the boat of your father."

„Oh that? Pretty simple. I have never seen him in my life. After my birth, my mother was killed. I was then brought up by mother Aria. But now she is dead too. So I decided to chase my dream and meet him later, when I'm strong enough to sail those waters where is by myself."

Shanks was still a bit confused, so I simply told him everything about me.

I didn't go that much in detail, since, in the show you simply didn't see enough of Shanks in order for me to ascertain his character in detail. So I still didn't trust him like Rayleigh or Roger.

„Sorry for making you go through this again. And sorry for questioning you like this. How about I help you with the problem of your leaking Aura as compensation."

„Don't sweet it, I don't mind. But I would still appreciate it if you could help me with my problem."

„Dahahaha no problem, but let's go somewhere more private."

He then turned around, made one more turn to the right, and then went to a wall, without a door. But after he pressed on one specific point, the wall in front of us moved and revealed a hidden passage.

„This was the secret base of the Captain when he was younger. Before he went missing he told me about it. Now this is my current home for the time being, as I wait for the last moments of the captain."

At the end his voice went down a bit, as he grew depressed again.

Sigh.

Shanks really loved Roger.

„This place is really nice. It can even accommodate me while I'm standing."

Shanks smiled again a bit.

We silently followed the winding passage, until we reached a big heave door.

After opening, I found myself inside of a large room, which gave of a really homely feeling. There were a few couches across the room, on the right was a bar on the opposite stood a fireplace, and finally a big bookshelf on the wall opposite side of the door.

A few smaller doors, leading who knows were, were also across the walls.

„Welcome to the secret base Yuno. Another of my Crew mates, a follow apprentice, Buggy is living here too. But he is currently outside shopping for groceries. I was originally out to see who else from the crew came, but I found you."

So Buggy is here too. Sigh I hope he doesn't bother me later. I don't want to give Shanks a bad impression, by beating the clown up. I still wanted to learn from Shanks to hold my Aura inside.

2 days passed

Today was the day of the execution, and I currently already stood on the square, where it will happen. I stood a bit away from Shanks and Buggy, as I wanted to stand a bit closer to the platform than them.

After these two days with Shanks, I am now able to control my Conquerors Haki so much, that it won't unconsciously slip out. So now I'm only a tall blond man. No one would associate me with Whitebeard, as my face looked completely different.

Also I didn't find Buggy as annoying as in the show, well at least once I accidentally hit him across the room after he bothered me a bit too much. Shanks only laughed it off, so that was good.

After this the Clown stopped bothering me.

With my new control of my Conquerors Haki I also found out, what kept bothering me and let to the constant release of it.

It was again because of a slight disagreement between my 2 personality's. And also the personality of the small child only had around 1 percent the strength of my normal mature personality, but still it was enough to let me release the Conquerors Haki.

The disagreement?

Well it was my reason for wanting strength. Both I and the Kidd, I think that's my name for the second Personality, want strength for revenge. And we too want both strength for our dream, of seeing the world.

Well at least Kidd shared this part with my main personality, from now on Add, with Add after seeing the view of the top of Reverse Mountain. As for the last part that is different, is the reason for why we want revenge.

Kidd wants revenge cause of the loss of my loved ones and want strength to protect our loved ones. But although Add wants this too, it isn't purely this. Add wants strength, not only for tour loved ones, but also for the ability to never again having to be at the mercy of others, and being able to live our life how we want to.

Kidd disagrees with this mentality, as he thinks its wrong. And although the argument isn't over yet. But since we could now control our Conquerors Haki, it didn't leak out anymore.

Well that was it about the differences of my two personalitys. It really is complicated and bothersome to have one.

But this wasn't the only positive thing in the last two days. After I finally came to know why my Aura is leaking, I felt the wall of my swordsmanship, becoming even weaker. And my instinct told me, once I resolve it, I would be able to break through.

This also let me realize, that this wall I faced, was the wall between the first and second realms.

So now after five years I'm finally about to break through again.
