Snowy Nights and the City Lights

"It was a snowy night when I first saw him"

City lights covered the night with a bright hue. Snow dropped from the cuddly sky puddles on the roof, falling on the road.

Sitting beside the window Sung Hyun was relishing his strawberry cheesecake. The creamy bites melted in his mouth, making goosebumps in his body.

He was enjoying the snowfall. His little feet couldn't reach the floor beneath. So, those feet wrapped in colorful socks were swinging like a pendulum.

"Sung Hyung, here is your hot chocolate." his mother put the cup full of streamy liquid down on the wooden table in front of him.

Little Sung Hyung took the cup without even looking at her. Mrs. Lim sighed at her seven years old son. The boy just loves snow.

Shaking her head a bit she went to attend to her customers. Though it was a cold snowy night The Moonlight Cafe was still buzzing with people enjoying a delicious cup of coffee warming their bodies from inside.

But Sung Hyung was in his world. Away from the world, he was enjoying the scenario. When something caught his eye. Blinking for a moment, thinking it would go away. But he saw it again.

His little feet touched the floor, as he put on his shoes and went outside without his mother noticing.

"What are you doing?" he hovered over the little kid in front of him.

The boy wearing a blue knitted sweater was bending over the cafe's door. Probably looking for something.

Bending his spinal cord a little to match his height, Sung Hyun asked the boy again,

"Who are you?"

Sung Hyun, expecting an answer knitted his brown eyes together towards the five-year-old something boy, who was staring at him with his big doe black eyes. But to his utter surprise, the little boy in front of him raised his hands and grabbed his cheeks.

"Aww! You ale sho cute" Purred the boy while pulling Sung Hyun's cheeks as tightly as his little fingers could adjust. Who, on the other hand, shakes his head in annoyance.

"Leave my face." Sung Huyn shouted. But the boy wasn't listening at all. At last, he clutched his hands with his own and put the aside.

"Don't ever come back here again" he shouted at the. Sung Hyun hated touching his cheeks. He hated it when somebody touches him. He was just one of those kids.

The boy with the blue jacket looked at him with his black doe eyes. Which were now glassy as well. The shimmering lights of the city behind him reflected on those eyes. For a moment, his little brain thought it was the most beautiful scenery he saw in his seven years old lifetime.

The trance was broken when he blinked his eyes. Maybe little tears were gathering in the corner of those black eyes. Sung Hyun never gets to know. Because the next moment, the boy was gone. Like a cloud floating in the sky, he vanished from his eyesight.

At that moment, perhaps in a small corner of Sung Hyun'a heart demanded again to watch those black doe eyes shimmering. But he was too young to understand.

He should have forgotten about him. If it wasn't until the next morning when he saw him again.

Sung Hyun didn't see his face. He only saw a blue sweater floating over the coffee shop's door again.

Sung Hyun covered his neck with the red muffler his grandmother knitted for him. And went outside.

"You came again?" He squeezed his eye muscles and asked him.

The younger one was startled at first. The sudden voice from behind paddled his heartbeat a little. But then another second his chapped lips stretched ear to ear and his eyes stared at the older behind him. A sheepish smile lingered on the pale face.

"What do you want?" Sung Hyun asked. Upon hearing this, the younger one's cheeks got darkened as he pressed his index finger on the glass door.

"You want the strawberry cheesecake?" Sung Hyun asked in disbelief.

"I want that pink cake." this time the boy replied. His cheeks were already red from the amount of blood rushing through his face.

"Do you have money?" As an answer to the question he only got a small head shaking from left to right. The small bangs over his forehead shook with them.

After a few minutes, Sung Hyun found himself sitting on his favorite chair beside the window with that five-year-old pale-faced, black-eyed boy wrapped in a blue sweater. In addition to his pale complexion, he also got some staines of the pink cream and sprinkles from the cake. As he was devouring the bites of the cake closing his eyes.

Is he shameless? Sung Hyun thought. The one who eats without paying is shameless. His grandfather said that. He heard it but that little brain of his still didn't know the meaning of the word.

"Sung Hyun, ask your friend if he needed anything else." his mother asked him from the cash counter. The lady was counting the money the customer just paid out.

"Do you need another one?" Sung Hyun asked him. This time in response he got the head bobbing up and down without sparing a glance at the seven-year-old boy.

And after like half an hour letter Sung Hyun found that five-year-old swinging his feet with like five empty plates smeared with pink cream as well as the small cheeks and mouth.

"Your friend got a great appetite." Mrs. Lim chuckled.

"What is your name dear?" And that's when Sung Hyun realized he didn't know the boy's name.

"Yo Han"

"Hello, I am Song Yo Han." those pale cheeks smiled sweetly.
