Chapter one: The cannon's three fires

It was a cold winter night, a dark weird night, the lively city turned into a lifless one, where no sound could be heard as if the nature itself was on stand by, silently awaiting and lurking what's there to come, what's hidden within this cold dark night.

The city was surrounded by huge walls that made her impenettrable, each wall had a lightning machine, looking from far, the city would look like a huge birthday cake filled with candelles, on each wall, there was also a brave and watchful guard making sure no stangers getting throught illegaly, there job is to watch every single mouvement weither it's within or outside the walls.

what made that night weirder was the horrible silent, not even one single insect made a sound, a death silence, everyone were asleep, everyone except Nada, a nineteen years old girl who woke up when her heart skiped a bit, it was midnight when the horloge went ding ding and her heart started beating crazily like it never did, she tunred towwards the window traying to see the moon and the stars, but the darkness of that night made it impossible, while she stood there trying to see anything she heard one cannon strike, two canoon striks, three cannon striks, it was a signal, the one that meant there's danger lurking the city gates, enemy is approching, what can she do, she didn't know, she looked again throught the window to see that the dark night turned into a bright day, everyone was awake panicking.

"" The city is under siege, the ennemy is trying to get in, run towards the mountains, or be brave and come deffend your city, your honneur"" these were the words she could hear coming from the streets.

The dark and silent night turned into a very loud day, everyone was running arround affraid screaming and shouting, some turned towards the gate to help the guards protect it, others were running towards the mountains, and some kept running arround without knowing what to do.

Nada just stood there not knowing what to do, when suddenly her room's door opened letting her brother in, he took her hand and lead her outside the room towads the bassement :

-" Stay here and make no sound, i will bring mum and my wife to stay with you, don't get out no matter what, just wait for us in here"".

These were the last words her brother said to her before leaving, she stood there in the darkness waiting for her mother to come, while wainting there she heard loud voices comming from outside, people were screaming in the streets, few minutes later she heard a weird sound coming from up-staires followed with the bullets and screams, she run towards the door trying to open it in vaine, her brother made sure to close it behind him making her unable to get out, she kept trying to break it down repeatedly without success, how many minutes or hours passed she wasn't able to tell, the only thing she know now was that the enemy left, the streets gained them silent, no more fires, no more guns, the only few sounds left were those of the few humain souls breathing, widows crying and orphans, in juste one hour the beautiful city turned into a goast city.

Finally she managed to open the door and get out, she run towards her parents room calling them, she called her brother and mother and father but no responce, she kept runing from one room to another, until finnaly reaching the last chamber of the house, the door was slightly opened, she pushed it and almost fell down from the horrors that she saw, inside the room, her entire familly was there, here parents, her brother and sister-in-law, she found them, laying on the ground swiming in them blood, them eyes expresing the horrors they went throught, she rushed to them trying to wake them up, in her hesterical state.

-"" Mother wake up, it's me, father please can you hear me, brother you promised you will be back to get me, please anyone talk to me, wake up, you can't die, no not yet and not like this, please"".

She took her mother in her arms and just stayed there with all of them, she was in pain, her soul brook into a thousend pieces, her heart couldn't bare it, they were all she had in life, and losing them this way made her go crazy, what king of a monster could do this, what kind of person did this, she was there lost in her pain and agony, and she didn't pay attention that she wasn't the only breathing being in there, not the only living humain in that chamber, beside the wall, ther was a man, a complete stranger yet in a state similare to hers, a complete unknow persone yet he shared the same pain, he was crying just like her, his heart was on fire just like hers, and his soul broken just like hers.

After a while Nada managed to cool down, she cleared her thoughts and wiped her tears, and then, it happened again, the heart beat, her heart went crazy again, just like before at midnight, she finaly felt his pressence, she finaly could feel that there was someone else in the room, someone who just kept looking at her, she turned towards him and saw a tall man with grey eyes as if there were made of thunder, he was looking at her intensily as if she would disipear if he blinked an eye, his hair was as dark as that night, he kept starring at her while her heart beated as if it would burst, he had a gun in his hand, waring a military uniform, he was quiet and stood still as if he was a part of the household decoration, he was lutenant Kayle, the most fearless, agressive,viscious and feared solider in the enemy' army, both of them did not but stare at each other in total silence, the only talk happening was that of them eyes, who lead thousends of battles and screamed unfinite thoughts, and dieded a million time.

Nada steped towards kayle, stadyly, she grabed his collar and yelled at him:

-" You dispecable scum, what are you doing here? wasn't it enough for you killing them, them scream didn't satisfy your lust for horrors that you needed to stay and see them drawn in them blood? what do you what more from them? answer me""

Kayle kept looking at her eyes, trying to understand that fire he could see in them, he looked at her like a mother stares at her new born for the first time, with the same amount of compation and love, he was so absorbed in her eyes that he didn't see her raising her hand and slaping him, that slap wook him up from his contemplation, he looked at her again to see her eyes crying.

-Nada: " you killed them all, they are gone for ever you monster, i hope you rotten in hell and pay for your deeds"".

And suddenly she grabed his hand, the one he held a gun in it, she pointed the gun to her forehead and said:

-"shoot me, finish your job, come on kill me too just like you killed them, you just killed five persons why not add one more, come on what are you waiting for ?"".

Kayle didn't react, he just kept looking at her eyes of fire, those eyes that challenged him, and in those same brown eyes he saw the pain in the heart, the sorrow, and the lost of the loved ones.

He pushed her hand from his and turned towards the door leaving and said:

-" I don't know what's the matter with me all i know is that wright here and now on this moment i cannont pull the triger and fire, seeing the gun in my hands scares me, it doesn't matter how many times i used it or how many lives i took, all that matters now is that i'm incapable of killing you, your life isn't mine to take"".

- "" what about my family, were there lives yours that you took so easily, answer me, you know what you are a coward, you can't kill someone braver than you, that's why you are running now""

Kayle tunred back to her, stared at her one more time and went back to the door, she called him again:

-"" If you don't kill me now, if you leave this room make sure that i will hunt you down, i will be your shadow and follow you everywhere, i will turn you live into a living hell, i will avenge them and kill you in a way that no one would ever be like you again"".

Faster than she could blink her eyes, Kayle was close to her, pointing his gun towards her, he grabed her hand tightly, starring into her eyes as if he was trying to portay her in his mind so that he wouldn't forghet her, and said:

-"" I will take that as a vow, you vow that will hunt me down and find me than kill me, let's play the game of death and life toghether, and we will see what our destiny planned for us, from this moment onwards i give you my live and my self, i'm yours, do with them what ever pleasesse you, and when you say game over i promise i will not fight back, i will surrender to you, from now on you become my destiny and i become yours, and that is my vow"".

Kayle got out from the house and left Nada to attend to her family all determined to hunt him and avenge her deaths.
