When The Facade Breaks (Jumpchain)(Current World: Invincible)

(Any and all recognized media, or characters are not owned by me and are owned by their respective companies and owners.) What is the true value of a second chance? What would most do if they got one? Seek power? Glory? Women? Maybe I would want the same thing. Its time I found out. But first I need to survive to find out. (Expect cliches and a rather boring story, I write this for fun and it will not be a deep story. He will be OP so the stakes will be rather low. Also there will be liberties taken with the jump chain mechanics.) World's Visited List: Jumper (Movie), Chronicle (Movie), FarmVille, Megamind, Invincible,

Learning And Meeting New People

(By the way, if any of you are ever struggling to keep track of the main character's, current powers, feel free to reference the status chapter in the auxiliary volume.)

" So you want me to hold an egg for a week?" The question came out a bit more suspicious than I would've liked it to, but Wayne didn't seem bothered. In fact, he almost expected it.

" Yes, you see, you've just unlocked your powers, but it seems like you've done it all at once, so we're going to need to start with the basics. You're going to need to learn to treat the world as an egg and treat everything like an egg. Every handshake you make, and every step you take, you have to make sure that you control each and every part of your body." as he says this, he takes out a package that is filled with over 30 eggs and hands one to me.

" We're going to start simple. All you need to do is make a fist, but you have to hold the egg, and I don't want to see one crack." Nodding, I formed a fist, but as the first finger on my hand touched the tip of the egg it snapped in half.

Silence enveloped the room before Wayne just stared at me before his blank stare, then turned to chuckles, and then he immediately started laughing.

"HAHAHA! I'm sorry…I'm sorry I didn't mean to laugh. It's just I'm not used to you not being able to do things on the first try." With a slight grimace on my face. I nod as he hands me the second egg.

" Remember, Carter, focus on anything but your hand. It has to be light, and it has to be instinctual. I wouldn't want you breaking all your pens when you're trying to do your work. Speaking of which, are you able to take such a long vacation?" Wayne, as he says this, had already made a coffee and was sipping on it.

" I appreciate the advice, brother, and yes, I can take a vacation. I've been working for the company for years now, and you and I both know how efficient Mr. Pennybags is. I mean, the only reason he hasn't tried to go for the CEO position is that he didn't want to do the amount of paperwork I had to do. But such are the wonders of computers. " While saying this, I managed to get two fingers under the egg before it snapped in half.

Thankfully, Wayne had the wherewithal to keep a garbage bin under my hand so that the eggshell and core wouldn't fall on the floor. Wayne did manage to remain steadfast and not laugh, but I could already feel that this was going to be a decent process.

But I could already feel the effects of my supernatural savant and lifting yourself up perks, as after crushing the first two eggs, I had managed to close my hand, but I put too much power into it, and the egg was crushed.

At the fifth egg, I managed to hold it with a fist, but I was mostly floating my fingers over it and not touching it, and while I was doing this, Wayne had already left the house to do his morning patrol.

You would think that a city with a virtual flying god wouldn't have too much apparent street crime, but human stupidity will always remain. I could almost hear my brother flying across the city with my enhanced hearing.

Wayne himself had asked why I wasn't on the ground in pain, and I had told him that I had already focused on controlling myself before. This wasn't a total lie, but I mainly was using telekinesis to block the sound waves from entering my ears, so yes, under the definition, I am essentially deaf right now.

But lip reading has always been a skill that I have wanted to develop. With decades under my belt, it became simple and even more effortless with my perk from the Jumper movie, which allowed me to learn languages and enhance my lip-reading ability.

For now, though, I need to take baby steps because Wayne was right as in one finger; I feel as if I could turn this mansion into rubble with one flick. Even without telekinesis with this body alone, I could practically shatter the city in under an hour.

I had asked my older brother what his maximum lifting strength was, and he told me the heaviest that he could carry. At least the heaviest thing he had carried was an entire city block that didn't have any skyscrapers on it. Even then, he said that he could probably lift more, but he would have struggled a lot.

So I do have a decent ballpark on my current ability limits as Metro Man's speed clocks to around 1936 machs and sits firmly at a city block plus level of strength. Still, thanks to lifting myself up, I would be able to improve since these powers are considered supernatural. Still, it would be slow since they're more biological in nature.

On the other hand, though, Silk has definitely taken to the new house, and with some of the enchantments I put on the carpet, he is able to transform from his regular purple and gold self to match up with any carpet he sits on or lays on.

Even Wayne didn't notice he was essentially sitting on a magic carpet.

The thought did cause me to laugh a bit, which did bring some weird looks from my brother, but he's gotten used to my eccentricity at this point.

And there's that feeling again. It's like nostalgia, in a way. The memories of my current form mix with my own. It's a strange feeling. I still remember the day that my brother flew for the first time.

While he did fly sometimes as a baby; he would never be able to remember it, even though I could, thanks to my perfect memory. I remember him being the age of five, and I was four, and funnily enough. The reason he started flying was because he had to speed around the table to pick up a falling cookie.

Even now, I can remember just the pure bewilderment I felt seeing my brother floating above the ground without any strings or wires, holding him aloft. I never felt scared, though, because I knew my brother wouldn't hurt me.

My parents were accepting people, so they never really minded. Even after Wayne showed them to them, it was just another part of the kid that they adopted from the stars.

But I could tell that it wasn't something just out of apathy. They did genuinely care. At the worst point, they had to talk about keeping Wayne's powers a secret, but that kind of didn't work with how outgoing my brother was.

The most terrifying day I could tell was when his supersensitive started activating. At first, it was his nose, then it was his eyes, and then it was the hearing, and I remember waking up in our room to him, screaming in pain as he could hear everything across the city.

That was the day I snuck into our parent's garage and built my first invention, complete noise, canceling headphones. These were normal noise, canceling headphones, as even those could be subject to sound waves, as well as disruption via the slightest movements. No, these were perfect.

The look of happiness on his face as he was able to go to sleep was something I'd never forget, and it also probably helped with the jealousy that I felt for him getting powers and not me.

But that was another me in another time, and while I am happy that I have these powers, it's not out of the fact that I wanted them. It's the fact that I needed them.

Especially with the moving metal I'm hearing outside.

The wall then caves in on my left as a large metallic fist punches through the mansion walls.

And as the metallic hand grips me, I hear an all too familiar voice.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Carter Davenport. I didn't know you were in the neighborhood. But you know how much I love these types of coincidences." The giant mech managed to build, somehow, then gripped me in both of his hands as he pulled me closer.

" You know, when I woke up today, I really didn't know why I felt as if I really just wanted to kidnap you again, but maybe I'm just feeling like that today. MINION!"

"Yes, sir." The fish robot says as he stands next to the giant mech,

" This was a complete coincidence, right? But it was a perfectly evil one, right?"

"Completely diabolical, sir. But we should probably hurry up as we're going to miss the next episode of Friends." Megamind then gasps as he activates jet thrusters , and I simply sigh in exasperation.

But this is probably the perfect chance to test myself, and with Megamind already knowing who my brother was, this shouldn't come as too much of a surprise.

Using my telekinesis, I grounded the mech before it was able to lift off, and as Megamind kept pressing the button to increase the power to his jet thrusters, I gripped the fingers of his mech and crushed them under my fingers.

Megamind, not noticing my escape, yells out, " Minion, did you not refuel the jet thrusters of evil before we left?!" But before the fish could answer, I'd already used my telekinesis to rip off all of his limbs, but I didn't want to kill him, so I just disabled and crushed all of his limbs while also breaking his speaking device.

"Minion, did you hear me?! I asked…if…you." The blue genius then goes quiet as he looks behind him and sees me and my brother staring down at him with Megamind chuckling.

" Well, hello, Metro Man. I didn't know you were here. I was just visiting your brother, you know, and speaking of you, Carter, my friend, you finally get your powers. Now we can have a real two on two! Now, where is that minion?!" I then point downwards, and as he follows where I'm pointing, he sees the top part of his minion, trying to wave and slap at the glass frantically.

"Oh, I'm going to go-" Metro Man had already grabbed the man by his giant head, and as he lifted his other hand, Megamind visibly paled.

"No, wait! Not that! You said you wouldn't do that again!" Wayne just narrows his eyes at him, makes his other hand into a fist, and places his knuckles onto Megamind's head.

" I lied, Megamind, but also, I didn't, as I did let you know what would happen if you tried to go after my brother and his house again. So not only are you going to jail, you were going to get the Davenport branded super Noogie." Megamind tries to slap away my brother while also trying to run on air as if this was a Looney Tunes show.

" Please, not the super noogie! Not the super noogie!" But his pleas fall on deaf ears as metro man then proceeds to give Megamind a noogie at such a fast speed that you can see his entire head start to turn red as Megamind yells out in pain.

In a few seconds, though, I begin to hear sirens in the distance, and as I take back to the ground, my brother nods at me, letting me know we're going to have to talk about this later.

Knowing that I would have to explain this to the police, I had already begun preparing my statements with Metro Man, continuing to give Megamind a very, very bad atomic noogie.

Thankfully, it seems like a Megamind does have decently enhanced durability when it comes to his head, which makes sense as the amount of muscle behind his large head does need to compensate for his increased brain matter.

I myself grabbed the minion's fish tank head and, handed it to Wayne, and gave him a small salute as he flew off to go meet the police while I just stared at the hole in the wall, wondering if this was my life now.
