Chapter Twenty One

Tomorrow came, and Gina and I were taking a stroll in the park. We needed a break from our active reunion. The moment I opened my door and saw her, I jumped on her, with all the energy I had, and knocked her over. I kept hugging her, while she was on the floor. I hadn't seen her in two years.

I remember, vaguely hearing her voice, when I was in a coma. I've asked doctors, no, not Zach, who came to visit me while I was in the come, and she, besides my family, was there every day. They said, she was talking to me, telling mee about her day, like I wasn't in the state I was. I loved her, for that. And I do remember hearing her voice.

It was lovely outside. Hot, but lovely. I loved the sun, the way it felt on my skin. The warmth.

"So, tell me all about this boy of yours, who stole you away from me?"

She smiled wide, "His is Nicholas, and he's incredible."

"He better be."

"Oh, shush."

"Ok, and…"

We spent the entire walk, talking about the places she visited, and people she met, food she ate, and how she was in love with Nicholas."

Then, as the sun was starting to set down, it was my turn. My story times.

"You're kidding?" She commented when I finished.

"Which part?"

"All of them."

"Nope."

"So, that Lydia woman…"

I made a face, "I don't want to talk about her. She doesn't deserve, me wasting my words, talking about her. She won, and that's it."

"She hasn't won, Jessica," she started, trying to make me feel better.

"I'm sorry Gina, but do you see Zach around? No. He's with her. She won. Period. The only thing now I have to deal with, is seeing Zach, at the next treatment."

"You still have to have them?" She sounded a bit worried.

"Apparently," I sighed.

"Did he try to contact you?"

"No. Well, his secretary could me, to ask how I was doing, and to confirm the date for the next treatment, with the excuse that Zach was too busy, and he instructed her to call me."

"Well, he at least, instructed her."

"Oh, please."

"Would you have answered if he did call?"

She had a point there. "No."

"See."

"But he could have called. And he didn't?"

"Maybe, he wanted to, but just chickened out."

"Ok, let's not talk about him anymore. I'm done with him."

"If you say so." She didn't believe. I don't think I believed me, either.

"Anyway, I made a new friend," I said excitedly.

"Oh, and by the look of you, I see I'll like him."

"No, you'll love him. He's name is Dan…."

I told her everything about him, and how he was going to come and visit me soon. Gina suggested we go clubbing with him, and I agreed.

Although, I don't remember the last time I went clubbing, I don't count the dancing in Bali.

So, we planned the whole thing. She suggested some new gay bar, we never stepped foot in.

"You know, just because he's gay, doesn't mean we have to take him to a gay bar?"

"I know, but, let's at least give him a one night stand."

"He can get that in a normal club," I interrupted her.

"Yes, but here it's a sure one-night stand, plus we can dance the night away, without being disturbed by boys coming up to us."

She had a point, again. I remembered Sam, and how aggressive he was, and how he was ruining my dancing time.

"Unless you want a one-night stand?" She looked at me suspiciously.

"No, no, you're right. I want to dance and have a good time."

Then, I remembered about yesterday, and my meeting with Anna. I cannot tell her about it.

"So, I was right?"

I knew she was going to gloat, "Yes, but that's not the point. She wants me to be her maid of honor. "

"You better prepare a speech, then," she was giggling.

"Stop it. How can I write a speech, about a person I don't know?"

"You have a week to get to know her."

"That's ridiculous. I must tell her I can't do it. I mean, how long do we know each other?"

"I don't know, way too long."

I punched her arm, lightly. "Hey, you're supposed to say something like, 'We know each other so long and I'm proud to call you my friend. You're the light in my life….'"

Now, she was the one punching my arm, and we both started laughing. She walked me home and we arranged to go swimming in the morning.

She wanted to show off her freshly tanned skin, and I was going to show off my burnt in places, bruised skin. Let the best body win.
