Chapter 51: If Heaven Exists

The next day, it was again another struggle for me to wake Yukino up. I never knew this side of her. I guess waking up so early in the morning really is not her forte. This morning was even worse, when I tried shaking her shoulder, she kicked me on the stomach which made me fall on my butt.

"C'mon Yukino, it's already 6:30 in the morning. We won't be able to catch up with the morning breakfast at this rate."

The hotel we stayed at offers breakfast but only until 8 AM. So waking up early is a must. I should go and prepare so that I only need to think of Yukino later. That's probably the only thing I can do right now.

Ugh, my stomach still hurts. Imagine waking up in the morning, still haven't eaten anything yet, and receiving a kick on your stomach. It's a disaster.

I finished preparing and it's now time to handle the issue at hand once more. Now how should I wake this little cute monster up?

"Do you not want to taste the hotel's breakfast? It's already 7 AM."

"I don't care, just cook me something later."

"I'll just leave you here after eating breakfast. Goodluck going home."

Yukino then jumped out of the mattress. Her eyes opened wide like in a state of shock which was actually funny.

"Hey! Don't scare me like that!"

"I'm not. Be ready by 7:15 or I'm leaving you."

Yukino then rushed to the bathroom and prepared for 15 minutes to be exact.

"Let's go and head for breakfast." Said I.

We made our way to the dining hall of the hotel and to my surprise, there's barely anyone there. It's deserted that not even a single seat was taken. It's almost like a ghost town here. It's a shame because the place actually looks decent. No, it's actually neat.

The breakfast is a buffet style with a large variety of food to choose from. Pancakes, eggs, rice, and many more. Yukino and I grabbed a fair portion of food as if to make the most of the eat all you can breakfast. It would be a shame to not get this much amount of food considering how this is a part of what we paid for last night.

"So? Where are we going right after breakfast?" Asked Yukino.

"We'll be checking out of the hotel and going straight to Ikoma Plateau. The flower fields there looked really good. In the pictures at least. I hope they don't disappoint though."

"I think I saw a short video of it online. I think it's legit."

"Really? That'll be good then."

As soon as we finished breakfast, we made our way to our room and packed all our stuff getting ready to leave. By the time we got in the car, it was already 8:45 AM. It would take about 30 minutes to reach Ikoma Plateau from here. So we'll be there around 9:15 depending on the traffic.

To my surprise, the trip from the hotel to our destination was smooth sailing unlike yesterday. I guess this is one of the benefits of being out of the city, there will be less traffic. All the while, Yukino was asleep.

"Wake up Yukino. We're here."

"What? Already? What time is it?"

"9:20 AM."

"That's fast!"

"Would you rather I drive slower and waste time?"

Honestly, all she does is sleep. Well, I guess she needs this much rest to be energetic later.

We made our way to the Plateau. We walked through the path surrounded by a field of flowers that you wouldn't be able to see the end of it. To the distance was the plateau that stood far away from us. The sunlight made the scene even more beautiful. But what made this place shine even more was the petite girl walking right in front of me holding a camera on her left hand, wearing a hat and a white knee-length dress which would sway back everytime the wind blew.

Yukino stopped walking and turned in my direction asking me to take a picture of her. Even without a camera, this picture of her was already deeply ingrained in my mind. I doubt that I'll ever be able to forget this exact scene. It's just not possible.

"What are you staring at Aoi? Take a picture already. It would be a waste to not take a shot or two in this place."

"Aren't you recording the whole time?"

"This and that are different. Just take a picture already."

I took a picture of Yukino through my phone. I took a couple more just to make sure that she won't nag later.

"Aoi, do you believe in heaven?"

"I can't say I do, but if there is one, that would probably be nice."

I'm not really a firm believer of religion, nor do I completely reject it. I choose the things I would believe and things I won't. I'm looking at it with logic and faith at the same time. I guess that much wouldn't be a sin.

"If there really is heaven, I hope that it would look like this." Said Yukino.

"Do you want that place to be filled with so many flowers?"

"Yeah, that way I probably wouldn't be scared to die. Imagine all this view for yourself everyday. Wouldn't that be nice?"

"Yeah, I think that'll be nice. If there really is a heaven, it would be this beautiful if not better. So I guess there's no need to worry."

"Right?" Said Yukino with a bright smile.

If there really is a heaven, I wish that all of the things that Yukino would wish for will be there. This life won't be able to give her everything she wants so I just hope that heaven will be able to provide that for her. The world is too cruel for someone as pure as her. It's unfair. To not give someone so bright the life they wanted to lead. If there really is a heaven, please be good to her when the time comes.
