2. A new life

Mrs. Patridge answered the door, she invited me inside and called out for Mr. Patridge.

"I'm sorry for distrubing you, y'all must be busy with the preparations of the wedding", I apologised before starting any serious conversation.

I was aware of the excuse Brian must have given to them. I will endure whatever they are going to say because this is who I am.

"Sae" Mrs. Patridge called my name and paused, she looked at the ground nervously then finally made eye contact with me.

"I'm sorry", A tear roll down her cheek followed by others. She suddenly threw her arms around me and started weeping. I wanted to hug her and cry too but this time my emotions were taken over by my inbuilt depression.

"It's okay, it's not your fault" caressing her back i assured her that she shouldn't blame herself for this. Mr. Patridge came and he couldn't look.

Perhaps he was ashamed of the promise they made to my parents. Mr. And Mrs. Patridge were best friends AKA colleagues to my parents even before I was born. But due to some clashes they had to move out of the city. After a long time they came back to the city with Brian.

"We're in no place to even apologize to you", Both of them looked at me at the same time. I parted my lips to speak further.

"We don't know what the future hold for us and maybe whatever happened is for the best. You both don't have to feel bad about this, I came here to say goodbye and I'm grateful to you that you made me a part of your family"

"Unfortunately it couldn't stay like that but we've to move forward no matter what" I said monotonously staring at the wall.

A part of my life ended here and I wanted to express my gratitude towards the Patridges for taking care of me. Specially Mr and Mrs Patridge, they both were extremely supportive in my one sided relation with my ex- husband.

Three months later

I moved in here to the south of the country in this city while applying for a part-time job in the departmental store. I decided on studying further and completing my masters. So, I took the entrance test to one of the prestigious university. Luckily, my academic achievements are enough for me to get into any prestigious college/University.

"Yu Sae-ju, is it you?" A familiar voice, i couldn't recognise probably because I went through a heartbreak.

Before i looked back somebody tapped my shoulder. I immediately jolted and turned my face towards them.

It was Anna.

Anna Sinclair, my one of the previous classmates. She was known for her beauty and the satisfactory sharp features. Her plumpy bold lips were standing out again unlike my dry lips. She wasn't someone I'd remember but i was aware about her due to her influence.

She was looking at me with a bold smile, i adjusted my spectacles and brushed my hairs backward.

"um Anna?" I said

"So you're really Yu sae-ju? I thought i picked the wrong person" she wasn't trying to be mean or something. She paused and brought her hand to front. She was demanding/expecting a handshake.

I answered with a smile although it wasn't polite to ignore the handshake but I had Mysophobia. That includes the down effects of carrying sanitizers, wet wipes and the pack of towels with me all the time. I even carry a whole bundle of brand new pocket gloves before I used to wear thick hand gloves during summers but by the time i took over that habit.

Anna wasn't a bad person, she was loud and wild but she never supported the wrong people. I don't really remember much about her because of my hazzy memories.

She asked for my contact number to stay in touch since it was her final year. I somehow ended up giving her because it would be rude if I'd reject that idea too.

My lectures were scheduled early in the morning, I entered the wrong room without realising. My class was supposed to be in Media & Communication department but I was in the whole wrong department. It was the Department of architectural engineering.

The professor looked at me,"Do we've a transfer student?"
