Reconciliation

"Chris is going to escape sir. We don't have much time." A man said to Joker. Joker turns to him with an enraged expression. "Send the brats in. Use them to find Mason and Chris and kill them all!" Joker responds.

Chris while following the map kept running trying to find Mason and Emily. Chris turns around to see a group of people talking to each other. They all stopped to look at Chris and grabbed their weapons. Chris quickly ran in the other direction but was being chased by them. He found a flight of stairs to which He rushes through floor after floor and kept running up the flight of stairs when he suddenly found an elevator. He could hear those people catching up to him so he calls the elevator and rushes in and holds down the close button and before the doors closed he threw a grenade on the other side and the elevator started going up and he heard the explosion before it went quiet. He looks at the map again trying to figure out where to go next. The elevator doors open and Chris rushes out before finding a maze in front of him. He looks up to a sign at the entrance.

"Section 4 Maze Runner"

was written on the sign. Chris assumes this was supposed to be another test that would've been given later on however he ignores it and walks in following the map given to him by Mason. The map shows a hidden door somewhere inside the maze. He keeps walking when he hears voices in the distance. The voices begin getting louder and louder so he hides behind a corner where he finds a woman calmly talking on the phone alone. "That brat should be arriving here soon right?" the woman asks. Chris can't hear what's being said by the person on the other end of the phone but tries to listen in. "Can you stop screaming! Those two kids will be here shortly and I'll make sure Mason is dead. She ends her call with the person on the phone before turning around. Just then Chris grabs her from behind and held her in a chokehold. He drags her to a corner and slammed her into the wall. "Looking for me?" Chris says before pulling his gun and pointing it at her.

She puts her hands in the air before replying. "What do you want with me?" she asks. "A few things. Starting with who were you talking to on the phone and what?" Chris replies. She pauses before explaining Joker's plan to get Jack and Crystal to kill him, Mason, and Emily. Chris was ready to pull the trigger and kill her but before he did she pleaded and said she can help him get to anywhere he needed to go quickly. "How so?" Chris asks. She explains that the building has certain doors that require face recognition to unlock. Chris thinks to himself for a moment before he agrees and forced her up making her walk forward while he stays behind her holding the gun in the case and before they left Chris took her phone with him.

Chris orders her to open her phone to which she follows and unlocks her phone. Chris takes it back and realized it wasn't a tampered smartphone. He quickly calls 911 and had finally got a response. "911, What's your emergency?" the dispatcher asks. "My name is Chris Johnson. I was kidnapped and taken into a secret experiment." Chris tries to quickly explain. "Wait...Chris Johnson?! You're the boy that was on the screens. You haven't been shown on screen for a while now. Where are you?" the dispatcher responds. Chris pulls the woman to him. "Tell them where we are." he says while pointing the gun towards her. She takes the phone and tells them their location. The dispatcher immediately sends officers and informs the FBI. The woman tried to inform the dispatcher of where the entrance of the Sector was but before she got the chance her phone died.

Chris was upset but continued further. He pushed her to the direction of the meetup of where the meetup point with Mason was. They reached a door that she unlocked and entered what appears to be a hallway. Chris then saw a map on the wall of the whole lab. He found a quick way to get to the meetup point and realized the woman wasn't needed so he shoots her in the back of the head. He takes the map with him and keeps walking through slowly making sure no one was around. He kept walking when he found dead bodies and blood covering the rooms. He jumps over a large hole in the ground and he finds a room with the sign "armory". He walks in and finds more blood everywhere and many weapons.

He collected as many weapons as possible and walked out of the armory. He follows the map and walks out of the hallway seeming to reenter the sector. He walks down some stairs and starts running in the direction of the meetup location. He moves but accidentally took a wrong turn and entered a room he didn't remember seeing on the map. He stops and opens the map to figure out where he was when suddenly Jack and Crystal walked through the door and paused when they saw Chris.

"It's been a while Chris." Jack says with a face full of nervousness and distress. Chris knows they are planning to kill him but didn't want them to know he knows their plans. "Where did you go? I never saw you and assumed you all died along with everyone else." Chris responds. Jack and Crystal were shocked by what Chris said. Chris assumed they knew about what had happened but was surprised to realize that they were unaware. "How did they all die?!" Jack finally speaks. "I agreed to the deal to fight those working for this experiment and as soon as I did...they immediately gunned down everyone in the Safe Zone." Chris replies. Crystal immediately grabbed Chris's shirt and slammed him into the wall. "Why did you agree to it without ensuring their safety?! You could've saved them if you stuck with them!" Crystal yells. Chris punches her face forcing Crystal to let go and move backward. "There's someone that's waiting for me and unfortunately for all of you she's more important to me than everyone else." Chris replies.

He pulls out his gun and points it at Crystal. "Wait, Chris! Calm down." Jack says. Chris turns to look at Jack when Crystal quickly grabbed Chris's gun. "Jack, Now!" Crystal yells. Jack rushes him and Crystal tries to pull him down but Chris punches her in the face and Jack grabs Chris's arm and slams him to the ground. Jack pulls out a gun but before he aimed Chris pulled out a grenade and Jack quickly grabbed Crystal and jumped behind a counter not realizing the pin wasn't pulled yet. Chris gets back up when Jack realized he was tricked. As soon as he stood up he got shot in the shoulder and fell to the ground. "That idiot should've given us better weapons to deal with him." Crystal says to Jack. Jack pulls out a knife and gives it to Crystal. "I have another one. Our best option is to fight him in close range. This might give us a chance." Jack says.

Crystal rushes to a corner and Chris shoots her but misses. She hides behind the corner when she suddenly hears something fall next to her. She looks to the side and to her horror she saw the grenade but wasn't fast enough to escape. The grenade blows up and Jack sees the explosion. "CRYSTAL!! NO!" Jack yells. He rushes to where Crystal was and finds her dead body. Tears fall from his eyes and he screams with rage and rushes Chris stabbing him in the shoulder. Chris pushes him back and pulls out his gun. "Let's settle the score, Jack." Chris says.

Chris fires at Jack he rushes to a corner before reaching for his own gun and firing at Chris. A shootout begins and both Chris and Jack empty out they're ammunition on one another eventually Chris hits Jack in the shoulder and he falls behind the corner. Chris runs out of bullets and tries to reload but Jack realizes this and rushes him again and tries to punch Chris in the face but Chris dodges and punches him in the stomach. Jack grabs Chris's arm and successfully punches him in the face twice but Chris follows up by kicking him in the testicles forcing him to fall to the ground from the pain. Chris follows up by kicking him in the face and punches Jack in the face repeatedly. Jack then grabs Chris and runs forward slamming him into the wall and punches him in the face repeatedly. Chris quickly kicks Jack in the knee making him go down. Chris follows by kneeing his face thus breaking Jack's nose. Jack tries to get up but Chris puts him into a chokehold but Jack slams the back of his head into Chris's face and forced his grip open. Jack turns around and punches Chris in the face making him walk backward while holding his face. Jack pulls out the knife in Chris's shoulder but Chris quickly grabs Jack's arm and punches his elbow causing it to dislocate and Jack drops the knife. Chris quickly picks it up and stabs Jack in the stomach and he leaned against the wall before he fell to the ground. Both Chris and Jack are breathing heavily.

"It's over." Chris says. Jack starts to laugh and tears began rolling down his face. "I'm sorry Crystal. I'm sorry everyone. I'm so stupid for thinking I could do it on my own." Jack says. Chris walks to his bag and grabs some alcohol and a gun. He sits down in front of Chris and opens the alcohol bottle. "I noticed your behavior when we met. You seemed to be someone that lies to himself when things go bad." Chris says before taking a swig of the bottle. "Perhaps." Jack replies. "I just want to know why. Why would you lie to yourself to such an extent? You looked like you were going to cry when reality tried to push on you." Chris asks. Jack almost laughs at what Chris said but the pain in his stomach stopped him. "Fuck." he says. He tries to get himself into a more comfortable position before responding. "I was scared. I was told by my parents time and time again that good people win overall. I tried to stay positive, tried to be the hero in those kid's stories. The guy that is kind and through teamwork gets his friends out of every bad situation. Instead, I end up failing, covered in blood, and dying on the floor." Jack for whatever reason finds his position hilarious. "I guess I'm nothing more than a-" Jack says but Chris interjects. "Child?" Chris says. Jack looks at Chris for a moment before nodding. "Yeah." he said.

Chris got up and grabbed his bag and pulled out a picture. "There's something I think you should know about your friends as well." Chris says. "What?" Jack asks. "Chris hands Jack the photo which has the dead bodies of Abraham and Sarah on it. "The truth. I killed Sarah and Abraham back during the previous test where I was backstabbed by Meghan." Chris replies. Jack looks at the photo and laughs with tears falling further. "I suppose I'm not the only one denying reality." Jack hands back the photo to Chris. "You don't have to do this to make me hate you. I noticed something about you as well. You refuse to have positive interactions and seem to want people to hate you because that's what you're comfortable with. Just when we got a mutual position, your trying to make me hate you." Jack continues. "I suppose it worked." Jack tries to get up and falls on top of Chris and gives him a hug. "You're the first person I will proudly say I hate but you still deserve happiness and I see the only time you're not trying to make someone hate you is with Emily." Jack says. He grabs the gun from Chris without him knowing. Chris hesitantly hugs Jack back.

Jack then pushes him back and leans back on the wall. "I suppose this is the end." Jack says pulling out the gun he stole from Chris. "Wait, What are you doing?!" Chris yells. He tries to take the gun back but Jack punches him in the face. "I couldn't wait to do that besides I'm a dead man anyway. My wounds are too severe and there aren't any medic around to help me." Jack says. He points the gun to his head. "I deserve this after all that but Chris all I ask is you don't refuse your happiness. You deserve friendship, love, and happiness." Jack is about to pull the trigger. He smiles with tears running down his eyes. "Goodbye."

Jack pulls the trigger finally ending his life. Chris stood there staring at his body. Tears fell down his face. The one person he never thought he would shed a tear, now made him break down in front of him.
