Hunters To Hunted

Chris turns to the hallway and from the shadows emerged seven others from the Safe Zone. Unfortunately for him, Jack and Crystal are part of the seven. They're eyes meet before Crystal responds. "Ugh! Do we really need to be playing with him?!" Crystal rudely says. "I'm not enjoying this either sweetheart." Chris responds equally upset at the situation. "That doesn't matter. We need to work together if we want to finish this test." Jack responds before Chris interviews. "No. It's not that simple."

Jack is confused when the voice on the speaker interjects the conversation. "Ah yes. I probably should've explained the rules when you all arrived so I'll explain it again." the voice says. The voice explains the game and the rules. He then tells everyone to go through a door. Inside they find a case with phones inside of it. Chris grabs the phone and tries to call the police but these phones don't have a call option. They don't have any option. It's just a bright white screen. That's it.

"Of course we can't give you phones with the option to call anyone. That would give away your location. These are specially made phones." the voice says. Chris stares at his phone. "Where the hell did they get the money to fund for all this?" Chris thinks to himself. Everyone grabs a phone and walks through another door. This room was a large office-like room with many doors and hiding spots. It looks like a miniature maze. "You have 30 seconds to scatter and then your phones will tell you who is the sheep and who is the fox. Every ten minutes you will all meet up back at the entrance to discuss who you think the fox is. If you get lost your phones will show you where you need to go. Have fun." the voice says.

Chris looks at everyone's phones and realizes that they're all white as well. Everyone scatters but Chris decides to secretly follow one of the boys without him noticing. After 30 seconds, his phone screen shows that he is a sheep and his screen is white, but it's orange when he looks at the boy's screen. Chris realizes that he is the fox and shoots him in the back of the head and his head didn't explode so he knew he got the right one.

"I followed him in case I got a fox but who would've guessed I was following the fox." Chris says to himself. He picks up the fox's phone and reads it. He has stats and special skills. He puts it in his bag and Suddenly the phones go off and Everyone's phone began to ring and on the phone, the voice of the man on the speaker can be heard. "Congratulations. Chris has successfully killed a Fox. Two more foxes are left. Good luck and as a reward here is your prize." the voice says.

On the screen, there is a flashing red dot. Everyone realizes that it must be the next fox. They run towards it following the GPS and everyone has gathered to the same spot. "your Chris right?" Jack asks. Chris looks at Jack for a moment before responding. "Yeah. What do you want?"

"I just wanted to thank you. You got the first fox relatively quickly." Jack replies.

Crystal:"A bit too quickly. You got the fox as soon as we were told our roles. Isn't that suspicious?"

Chris:"I was following the guy in case I was the fox so I could get an easy kill but in the end, I was a sheep, and coincidentally he was the fox."

Crystal:"How do we know that your not the fox?"

Chris:"Did you not listen to the rules? Only a sheep can kill a fox and vise versa. If a fox kills a fox then the fox dies too and the same is said for the sheep. If I was the fox then my head would've exploded."

Jack:"He's right."

Crystal:"Tsk. Cant we just kill him?! He's super annoying!"

Chris:"Go ahead but if you are a sheep you'll die too unless...You're a fox."

Everyone looks at Crystal. "D-don't be ridiculous! I am a sheep." she replies.

Jack:"She's been with me the whole time. She hasn't bothered to kill me so she isn't the fox."

Chris:"Jack did you see what color was her screen when the game began?"

Jack:"No. Isn't it against the rules?"

Chris:"The guy on the speaker never said it so it isn't."

Jack was silent

Chris turns to face the other kids. "I want everyone to show me their phone screens." Chris says.

Crystal:"Why?"

Chris:"When I was chasing the first fox and the game began my screen was white but his screen was orange. By that logic, the fox's screens should be orange."

Crystal pulls out the phone to show that her screen was white. It was the same with Jack and everyone else. Chris then realized that not everyone was here. "There were a total of ten kids. One of whom is dead. There are 5 of us here. That means the other four are still not here yet. Those foxes have some brains." Chris says. Suddenly they hear something coming from behind. They turn around to see three other kids who had just arrived.

Kid1:"Oh god. Sorry, we're late. We got lost in the maze."

Kid2:"I can't believe your phone doesn't work. This game sucks."

Kid3:"What did we miss?"

The three kids say. Chris looks back at his phone and the red spot has disappeared. Chris quickly pulls out his gun and points it to the three kids. "Calm down! What are you doing?!" Jack shocked asks. "The red dot disappeared from the phones when these three showed up. It wasn't telling us where the fox was. It was telling us where the fox will be. So one of these three is the fox." Chris replies. Everyone is now looking at the three kids. The three kids look terrified. They beg for their lives when jack tried to get Chris to put down the gun. "How about we ask them to show their phone screens." Jack asks. Jack turns to the kids and asks them to show their phone screens. Surprised the kids asked why and Jack explained that the fox's screen is orange. They all nervously pull out their phones and shows it to them. To Chris's surprise, they're all white. "They're all clear. Now put down the gun." Jack says but Chris refused. "Somethings wrong. Everyone here is white but as soon as these kids showed up the red dot disappeared. Something doesn't add up." Chris says. He turns to the kids and demanded their phones. They all give it to him. Chris opens his bag and takes out the phone from the first fox. He starts looking through each individual detail until he notices on kid1's phone had a face unlock feature.

"You sly fox." Chris says to himself with a grin. Chris gets up and asks one of the other kids to keep an eye on Kid2 and kid3. "Do you know who it is?" one of the kids asks. "I think the fox can't hide much longer by the sheep." Chris replies. He walks over to kid1 and throws his phone at him. "Good news. You're clear. We now know it's Kid2." Chris says. The kids eyes started sparkling almost with hope. "Really?!" he excitedly asks. Chris laughed before he pulls out the kid's real phone and points it in his face. It then unlocks and the screen changes to orange. Kid1 gets scared and runs into the maze while Chris tries to shoot him down but missed.

"Dammit! It's the kid! After him!" Chris yells. Jack, Crystal, Chris, and a few others run into the maze and follow him. "I don't wanna die! I don't wanna die!" the fox cries out. The fox starts crying while running. He then finds another kid walking around and runs toward her. He pulls out his gun and uses the girl as a hostage. "Don't come any closer or I'll shoot her!" the fox yells. The girl cries out for help and Jack tried to jump but Chris stopped him. "What are you doing?!" Chris yells. "Calm down. That girl should be the last fox." Chris whispers to Jack. Jack realized what Chris meant and stopped struggling. Chris walks closer to them and pulls out his gun.

"Is her life meaningless to you?!" the fox yells out. "I've never seen that kid in my life so she isn't important to me. You can kill her if you like. At least the foxes will get 1 kill before they die." Chris confidently replies. Before the fox pulls the trigger the girl tried to stop him but he shoots her in the head and his head suddenly blows up. "Just as I expected." Chris says to himself. The voice on the speaker came back on and congratulated everyone on their victory. Jack suddenly walks up to Chris. "You're smarter than you look. I didn't think she would be the last fox." Jack says. Chris thanks him before looking back at the dead bodies. "With such a gruesome scene as this, I'm not even phased in the slightest. I guess I'm getting used to this." Chris thinks to himself.

Back in the outside world on the screens. Everyone saw what Chris had done. The Joker comes back on screen for his announcement. "That was incredible! I like that boy already. They passed the test and with the other test by the other children, there are now 98 left alive. To the people trying to save the children, I recommend you hurry it up because things are only going to worsen. The Children are waiting. They need their hero so come save them. Heroes." Joker says in a mocking tone. He smiles and the screens move back to the remaining living children.
