Chapter 31: Ambitious

Everyone's bikes gave a roar and players were speeding off in all directions. I, for the moment, took a turn to the right where only one player except me was. The reason was obvious:it wasn't a shortcut.

I lowered my speed and took a look at the map. Thefe were 10 people in total. From Thug Dawgs, it was me, Jorge and Ivy. Then for THE MASKED, Catherine. And rest were the players simply playing.

I zoomed across, overtaking Player "getso27". I smirked. The road was loaded with traffic. Cars. Everywhere and going in opposite direction. Then was the fear of a car looming around the corner and when you turned, you crashed. But that was okay if you were pretty careful I guess. I did not let my mind wander off after corners and cars. Instead, I got ready to take a turn left which would connect me to the main route. I looked in the rear mirror. Getso27 was approaching me. In that case, if he came too near, I won't be able to make my turn smooth.

I increased my bike's speed. It gave a roar and I turned. Getso27 preferred not follow. The roaring of the bike was buzzing in my ear. I could not hear anything except that. Along this route, there were four players. There was no mistaking of that style and that mauve-dyed hair. Ivy was winning. Just behind her were Catherine and another player. I didn't have time to read his name. I had already overtaken another player. My bike was vrooming. But the distance between them and me was too much. If I increased speed beyond the measure, I wouldn't even know where I'm going. Still, risk was the middle name of this game.

Hence, betting on my life, existence, badge and everything in between, I increased the speed.

VROOM....

I was parallel to the player...I overtook him....I was just an inch behind Catherine. I can do this...I can overtake her...I will win my badge....

BANG!

My ambitious thoughts were interrupted by the loud banging. I looked to my left. That's when I realised what had just happened. Catherine was banging her bike in mine. She intended to throw me off my balance. And I couldn't afford that loss. I NEEDED SPEED!

I was begging my dear bike to hold on. The fact was, watched too much movies. Today was the day to put the information I obtained from them into action. Very cliché, there must be a button which will trigger extra powerful engine. I just need to find it. The problem was, I didn't have much time. And if I directed my concentration there, I won't be able to keep on track. Still, what I did was that I kept my eyes on the road and pushed random buttons by my right hand. That wasn't easy. Catherine's blows hadn't stopped.

And then, I found it.

Something beeped. The engine stopped for a while and then the engine roared deafeningly. I finally overtook Catherine. Now I was to the right to Ivy. She wasn't wearing a helmet. I turned to look at her and she smiled at me.

She turned.

Uh-oh

I got distracted. Damn me. Catherine made the turn too and I was barely holding on to the bike for dear life. I was about to hit a building now.
