Just then the boys came back to the porch with the little dog and sat down between Ward and Tyler on the steps.
“Can we take her home today?” Jack asked.
“No,” Eddie said. “Remember Ward told you they needed to be with Zeta for six weeks.”
“That’s right,” Ward said. “It’ll be another couple of weeks.”
Jack pouted.
“We’ll come out every chance we get, Jackie. I promise,” Tyler said.
That seemed to placate the boy.
“What are you gonna name her?” Ward asked.
“We decided everyone in the family gets to pick a name,” Tyler said.
“I want Lady,” Jack volunteered.
Eddie shook his head. “I want Bandit!”
“Bandit’s not a girl’s name,” Jack insisted.
“Jack, remember we decided everyone gets to think of a name. Whatever they want.”
Jack pouted.
Tyler said, “I choose Princess.”
“So, which will it be?” Ward asked.
“You didn’t pick your name yet,” Jack said.
“Me?”
