Chapter 11
“Yes, Jack, we know Ward is your daddy’s friend. We…we aren’t angry with him.”
“Maybe you can come to the farm with us,” Jack said before going back to eating.
Tyler looked at Eddie, who had been following the conversation with interest. When Eddie caught Tyler looking at him, he turned away and began to eat as well.
The conversation, while strained, turned to other topics for the rest of the afternoon.

Later that night after they were home and the boys in bed, Tyler called his father.
“Hello?” Tyler’s mother said.
“Hi, Mom. How are you?”
“Just fine, dear, and you? The boys?”
“We’re good. I called to ask Pop something. Is he still up?”
“He is. I’ll get him for you. See you tomorrow when you drop the boys off. Love you. Bye.”
“Bye, Mom. Love you, too. And thanks for taking care of Eddie and Jack for me again this summer.”
“Not at all. I love seeing them every day.”
Tyler could hear her calling to his father.
