Chapter 2

3 months have since I finished my R1, many agreed that it should replace the musket for defence and expedition use.

The muskets were broken down to create the R1s. So in the last 3 months Dad's Weapon Shop did nothing but produce R1s and thus making history for the Faran family. Many of the weaponsmith tried to recreate the R1 but failed miserably on the trigger part.

"Hahh... I know they say i'm a genius but still i want them to give Dad some credits too. He literally created the trigger mechanism from scratch using my design as reference." I ranted about what the weaponsmith keeps telling me to my Mom as she listened thoroughly even adding some encourgement and praises.

"Eliza?" I heard the soft voice of my father as he say Mom's name. Turning my head towards the door there Dad stood.

"Dad!" I rushed to where my father is and jumps on his chest.

"Woah! be careful or we might fall together." Dad said as he pats my head.

"The whole shop started get motivated so i was able to go home." He said as he hugs Mom. After their hug we sat on the table but the door was burst open. A familiar Dark brown hair came to view and a familiar voice.

"Mom!!! Elzer Im home!!!" There my eldest sister Kaianne rushed to me and Mom. She had her eyes closed as she hugs Mom and me. Kaianne is a Commander of the Variants in our Shelter: The Haven. She leads her group named The Blue Phoenix to find survivors of the Catastrophe, And/or hunt deforms that are near our shelter. They also go and scavenge anything useful, like steels,irons, and even seeds if possible. That why she is rarely home. She also the strongest Variant in our Shelter going on the Orange stage.

"Do i not get a hug?" Dad asked making my sister open her eyes and look at who said that.

"Dad!!!" Big sis Anne gave Dad a Bear hug.

"How is my princess??" Dad said with a smirk.

"I never agreed to that nickname!! and Also im too old to be called princess!" Big sis pointed to Dad with a red face. Earning her a laugh from Dad and a chuckle from Mom. As everyone was about to sit and talk the door slammed open again. This time a man with a dark brown rushed in. It was my big brother Benneth, Just like my big sister Kaianne, He is also a Variant but he leads a platoon in the Militia, They protect the walls and enforces the Law. Bennet mostly scales the walls than guard the streets. They are also responsible for evacuating people if ever the shelter is ever breached. He is a Red Variant it is said that he is the strongest Red Variant in the Shelter, and can even fight against a newly formed orange variant.

"I'm back!! I heard Kaianne is back too!" Big bro Bennet said as he walks towards us.

"Big bro!!" I said as I gave him a hug.

"I heard what you made congrats by the way." He said as he pats my head.

"Here take this i asked my Superiors to get me this." He handed me a card.

"You've been given atleast 50 boxes of steel and iron, a bucket of gun powder and stacks of wood." My big bro said as he smiled happily.

"Wait what? What did Elzer do?." Big sis Kaianne asked as she gobble the foods on the tables.

"Well our little bro here made a new type of musket. He called it Rifle1 or R1 for short."

"How does it work?" She asked as she continued eating. As mother and sister looked at Bennet, then Bennet pulled a rifle on the holister(search Higikita Fgo and at where he puts his musket.)

"This is the R1.. and it shoots this." He showed a steel cylinder with a round edge. "This is called a cartridge it is a iron ball that is stuck in this bronze cylinder that has some gunpowder in the inside." Bennet continued his explanation.

"That would be really useful on my expeditions." Kaianne said as she grabs the R1 from Bennet's hand.

"Hey!" Bennet stumbled trying to snatch back the gun.

"So its an easier-to-reload musket huh? it even has those lines in the barrel that father called Rifling." Kaianne examined the gun removing the Cartridge to look at its barrel.

"Its well-balanced." Kaianne aim the R1 to the door and pressed the trigger softly making the gun's hammer move back and with a bit of strength the hammer slammed back making a click sound.

"Woah!! its reactive too! not too hard press and not too soft to cause accidents!! How is its penetration power?"

"It went through a knights armour when we tested it." Dad answered as he gave Bennet a hand.

"Yes." I answered but as we were about to talk again we heard the Bell ring three times

"An Attack! Dad keep the gun, here are the ammo." Bennet said as he unslung his pack and drew his sword.

"Alright. you two be careful out there." Dad said as he slung the pack on his shoulders.

"Eliza take this prototype i made using Elzer's design as reference it uses the same type of bullet as this thing here." Dad said as he gave Mom some Cartridges.

"When did you make this?" Mom asked Dad but Dad didnt answered but that didnt stop us from going to the shelter.

With most people having a Musket or at least a Flintlock most people are not afraid of the deformed that is why the path to the Shelter was abit of an easy walk because the people moved uniformly and orderly only those who are new to this place panicked.

"Mr. Faran!" I heard my friend's voice Ronnie.

"Ronnie! How is the situation?" Dad asked Ronnie.

"Oh it was fine we managed to react on time so the deformed wasn't able to get near the gate and with the new weapons long range support is much faster." Ronnie explained as he then went to a family of four and started calming them down.

"It really is fortunate that Kaianne and her team was home."

"Oh dont worry Sir Bennet is also doing some work on the walls. Man he was so cool! He was commanding the musket teams and also those who are on outside of the wall and the defensive tactics he suggested works as intended!!" Ronnie excitedly said hearing him talk about the guard captain made the people around them calmer.

And in a few minutes the Bell rings five times signifying the end of the Horde.

"That was a bit fast." I lowly muttered out.

"Well its because of Miss Kaianne and her team are here, if theyre not here Sir Bennet and those who are protecting the wall may have a bad time!" A girl who looks to be the same age as me said hearing my muttering.

"Hey! You take that back Sir Bennet and the Wall Defense team are also amazing individuals!!" Ronnie rebutted the girl.

"Oh yeah??! Then Why aren't they in the front lines fighting with Miss Kaianne??"

"That's..Err.. Damn it." Ronnie backed off from the argument.

"That's because Bennet doesn't want to leave the Walls under guarded." A voice cut through the crowd.

"Y-you are!" the girl shouted.

"Sir Kinston!!" People around the the girl said in unison.
