Their Leader

Sixteen looked up at Claire expectantly. "Is it my turn? I want a name too!" 

She had realized that Claire was going down the line by this point. Hopefully, she would be as accepting of ideas as the others had been. "Yes it's your turn. What do you think of Sarah?"

"No," the little girl said firmly. "Something else."

The first rejection of the day. Well, Claire had been expecting worse. This wasn't so bad.

"How about Sophia? Vivian? Mila? Charlotte?"

Every suggestion was shot down with a shake of Sixteen's head. Claire had to think smarter. This kid had bright eyes and had been the first and only one to speak up in the car last night. She could tell Sixteen would be a spitfire when she grew up and not only because she was a redhead. 

"What if we call you Zoe? It means 'life' and I can tell you're full of that."

Sixteen tilted her head. "What does being full of life mean?"
