"Get to the dock!" Tom shouts as he runs by me, snapping me out of my stupor.
I'm still frozen in place, unable to process what's happening around me. How is this possible?
Emily grabs my arm, shaking me. "Aiden! Let's go. C'mon. We have to go." Her voice is frantic.
I nod but am still unable to form any words.
"Which way is the dock? Where are we supposed to go?" Her tone rises with each word, her fear palpable.
I glance around. Everyone who isn't dead is scattering into the jungle. Into the one place where they'll likely die. I want to shout at them not to go in there, but I know, even if they can hear me, they won't listen. They're too scared and looking for anything that will protect them.
Tom said we should go to the dock, because from the dock we can get to the building and the safety of the bunker, but running down the beach, in the wide open, will make us targets. "C'mon, this way," I say, leading Emily toward the tree line.
