Chapter 26

The Goblin's nest was a creepy cave, that was mostly natural, but had a few sections carved out like spider webs. throughout the nest there were piles of animal and monster corpses strewn about.

If any other mage would have come here they would use magic to scan the area like echolocation, but I can't feel nor connect to the mana around me so I cant use it to locate something, only thing I'm good at is blowing stuff up and moving it around, thus I have to wonder around like a headless chicken and manually search every crevasse.

Two hours of walking later I start hearing some noise similar to what a dog would make when eating wet food. when I get closer to the source I find out that it the sound of baby goblins eating whats left of the kidnapped villager. thankfully at least half of his face remains so I could still get my rewards for "saving" him.

I quickly return the lost Goblin children to their parents and stuff the half eaten head in my bag.

I continue exploring whilst munching on meat mush that used to be HobGoblins, but my luck seemed to run out because after walking for 6 hours I only found rusty weapons and ruined gear, and zero monster meat "I was hoping to get some mystery meat in my tummy".

from how in every corner of the nest there is a pile of bones, I'm guessing the evolution of Goblins to HobGoblins cost a lot of energy and resources and that's why they had to attack and kidnap the villager, and if I had not come here on time, the HobGoblins would have killed every villager and the low ranked adventurers that the village would have otherwise hired.

"meaning I'm something like a Hero, no?"

"I should probably request a higher rank at the guild, for my achievements deserve better recognition. not"

when i finished my journey through the cave and returned back outside, I had gained plenty of useful and not so useful skills from my snackpack.

I managed to gain many weapon mastery skills yet the most mysterious is the 「Shovel Mastery」, what am I supposed to do with that? enter the digging cult like mister Anthony the Ant god?
