Episode 37- [Broken Abilities]: The Cause of One’s Destruction

All the mages heard her words clearly and turned to look at her, completely ignoring her when the girl arrived. After all, their 'friend' was going to die soon.

Of course, in the eyes of the public, they were friends, but in private most of them never really talked to each other. Lucas Evanstine has a huge ego, so they could barely stand being near him.

But even so, they still had to stand up for him because he was one of the five great mages.

"How is he going to be alive once he kills him? Once his life is gone, then he is dead. There is no question about that."

Illayaka looked at Selena and smiled. "Well… via resurrection magic, bringing him back alive is completely possible."

The four mages looked at the girl in shock; they had never heard of any kind of spell that could completely resurrect a person from the dead. To tell the truth, there was a spell out there that revived people, but they never came back to be the same person. Anything that made them sane never came back when they revived, they were always mindless zombies.

"Res—...resurrection?" Lily uttered, completely shocked. "Th-there is no way someone can break back someone from the dead…. A-And if they did, it is not as the same person they once were before. You could say that they are min–mindless zombies."

Lily was a shy person, so talking around groups of people was something she didn't like to do. This also counted talking around people she didn't really know, but kids were a different story. She was still a young girl, around the age of nineteen, so it would be understandable for her to be so shy in the public eye. In fact, she graduated school early and became one of the five great mages.

The rest of the mages were around twenty-five years old, so they had uncollimated all kinds of experiences wandering the world while destroying the threats that came to the human world. Demons like interfering with humans by sending dangerous beings over. The only reason humans don't do anything is that they want to avoid a pointless war that would destroy countless lives.

Illya sighed. "Of course, that would be for the current standards of this world. It is normal not to be able to resurrect a person fully. But… father is a different cause. Those types of things don't apply to him. The cost for the resurrection spells that completely bring back a person with their memories was too great. Too great that a normal person wouldn't be able to handle it."

"But let's say if there is a person that surpasses those kinds of 'rules or 'restriction'... What would they be like?" Illayaka asked, staring at the four mages that were sitting beside each other.

Their mother was standing directly beside them. It was as if she was standing guard from them. Even though none of the mages could harm their daughters, it was a mother's job to protect her children.

"What do you mean by that exactly?!" Kiana shouted at the top of her lungs. "No such person exists in this world, so why make up such stories, brats…!?"

Tenka frowned.  "Watch how you talk to my children. We don't want any accidents to happen in this room, now do we?" she said, extremely upset by the way that the flame head was talking to her daughters.

Kiana was not as strong as Tenka, so she could make quick work of her if she decided to do so. Furthermore, Tenka fighting each of the five mages separately would be a total beat down. And if she fought them all together—well—it would be an absolute slaughter. A slaughter that is still in her favor.

"Quiet… we have to watch the fight now. There is no need for anyone to describe it because he is about to show you what we are discussing."

Tenka went to sit down beside her daughters, and she looked inside the barrier noticing that Shito was standing in there with his hands in his pockets.

Everyone in the room was silent because the strongest mage told them to be quiet and watch the battle. They were about to see someone demonstrate the strength that a kid his age should not have.

Of course, no one knew of the seals that were placed on him, so they would only think that he was going at his full strength. His family didn't even know how strong he was really. He had a seal placed on him, and even with that, he never used five percent of his power.

Inside the barrier stood two people who were about five paces away from each other. Nothing was in the barrier. The floor was clear, with no couches or chairs in the way.

"Why are you taking so long to attack me…?" Lucas sneered. "Or is it possible that you can't do anything to me? After all, I'm among the five great mages, and you… You are nothing but a lowly student."

Shito blankly stared at the man as those words came out of his mouth. He was not practically satisfied with just talking to the man. One thing that was going through his mind was what the mage would act like when he experienced death a couple of times.

"Me, lowly? Do you have some kind of complex? Do you think that you are better than me because of your title as one of the five great mages?" Shito asked, with no sort of emotion on his face. "Because in front of me, your title is not going to be able to save you…"

"My title won't be able to save me?" Lucas asked, annoyed. He was one of the mages that would become a pillar of protection from the world. "I don't need my title to save me. My strength shows for itself."

After saying those words, he started to pull off the gloves that covered his hand. He could touch anything, and it would turn to gold. Although he wasn't allowed to kill Shito, he was going to damage him enough so that he would die a couple of hours later.

This brat… I do not like the way he is operating. I'm going to have to kill him, but I can't do any physical killing because it would cause the government to act; no matter of fact, the government won't be the only problem, his sister will also be a problem.

Those were the thoughts of Lucas as he continued to stare at the boy standing before him.

"All right, enough talk, come over here and attack me. You have done too much talking, and it's starting to make me bored."

Hearing his words, Lucas tapped the ground, and everything turned to gold.

Nothing outside of the barrier was turned to gold because the barrier stopped anything from inside from coming out. They could hear what they were talking about, but no one could interfere with what was going on.

"Golden touch."

With those words, spikes made from gold started to form from the ground. The spikes were strong enough to pierce metal, so piercing through a human was impossible.

Shito didn't even flinch at the sight of the golden spike rushing in his direction, he stood still, and his expressionlessness had never changed ever since their fight started.

Nearing his face, the spikes instantly fade from the world. The attacks were nullified before they could even damage his face.

"...Is that all… now that was embarrassing because, with all that mouth you had before the battle started, you should be able to back that up."

"Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha, do you think that was the only trick in my arsenal? If you did, that is a mistake on your part."

The gold started to hit up billions of degrees per second, and the gold spikes were getting harder and harder. He was using flames to heat up the gold. Of course, the two of them had resistance to heat, so nothing was really happening.

Snapping his finger, the gold completely disappeared. The gold would never touch Shito, so he felt no need for the gold to be still in the room.

"Try a new trick because this one isn't going to work. I know gold is your specialty but…. That's not going to help you now."

Lucas frowned. "You want to see another trick, huh? Well, even though gold is my specialty, it is not the only thing I could do. The reason I accepted the 'golden touch' title was because the gold element was something I like to use."

Placing his arm out, a sword that was made from pure gold formed into his hand. The gold sword had a normal hilt to make the grip on the sword easier to hold.

With his sword in his hand, he completely disappeared. Nothing could be seen but sparks of light.

"You are going to try to use speed to beat me?" Shito asked curiously. "Even with the speed you are using, I can still see and sense your presence. No, it would be easier to say that there are two barriers around my body that I can manipulate with my will, and one of those barriers tells me when someone moves to try and attack me."

The barrier that covered his body was made up of three different ones. The first barrier he has is the barrier made of nihility covering his whole body, but most of the time he has that barrier off since he doesn't need that barrier. The second barrier was a barrier that sensed the range of anyone who entered his range, and the barrier was called Movement Perception.
