1st NTR Mission!

James froze, his spoon hovering near his mouth, as the words "Soulbreaker System Initialization…" echoed loudly in his mind.

For a moment, his brain felt like it had short-circuited. Then, like a switch had flipped, excitement surged through him.

'Finally! My cheat system! My golden finger! My way to survive in this world!'

Ever since he realised he had transmigrated, James had been anxiously waiting for some sort of special power to show up.

Every protagonist needed one. How else were they supposed to survive and thrive in a world that seemed straight out of a martial arts fantasy?

But as the thrill of finally getting his cheat began to settle, a creeping sense of dread replaced it.

'Soulbreaker System?' The name rolled around in his head like a bad joke. It didn't sound cool or powerful, like the "Godslayer System" or "Heaven's Blessing System."

No, it sounded… evil. 'What does it even mean? Am I supposed to break people's souls? What kind of messed-up cheat is this?'

James narrowed his eyes and sat up a little straighter, gripping the spoon tightly in his hand.

He reminded himself not to make the rookie mistake so many webnovel main characters did.

Those idiots always talked to their systems out loud, making everyone around them think they were insane.

Then, after fully embarrassing themselves, they'd find out they could just communicate silently.

'Not me. I'm smarter than that,' James thought with smug determination.

"Hey, System," he said in his mind, keeping his face calm even though his thoughts were racing, "what exactly do you do? Can you explain your purpose?"

Silence.

He waited a few more seconds, his brow furrowing. "Hello? Are you even working? I'm the guy you just activated for, remember?"

Still, there was no response.

Frustration began bubbling up. 'Great. My system is defective. I waited all this time for a golden finger, and I get one that doesn't even talk back!'

Just as he was debating whether to break his rule and try talking out loud, a voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Young Master Kaelan?" Master Yevan asked hesitantly, his tone laced with concern.

James blinked rapidly, snapping out of his internal argument.

He realised with horror that he had been staring blankly at nothing, his spoon still hovering midair near his mouth.

Worse, he had been making all sorts of weird expressions while talking to himself in his head.

"Oh! Uh, I'm fine!" James said quickly, forcing a crooked smile as he stuffed the spoon into his mouth to play it cool.

The moment the broth touched his tongue, everything else melted away. It was incredible.

The warmth of the soup spread through his body like a comforting hug. The flavours were rich and layered, with spices that tingled just enough to keep things interesting.

The chunks of meat were tender and juicy, practically dissolving on his tongue, while the odd-looking vegetables added a satisfying crunch.

For a brief moment, he forgot all about his mysterious system, his transmigration, and even the strange world he'd found himself in.

But, of course, the system had other plans.

[Ding! Congratulations, Villain! Your survival chance is 0.01% unless you NTR every hidden boss in this world. Start now or perish!]

James froze mid-chew, his brain screeching to a halt as the words echoed in his mind. The spoon slipped from his hand and clattered onto the tray, but he didn't even notice.

'Villain? Survival chance? NTR?!' His thoughts spiralled into chaos.

He nearly shouted out loud but stopped himself just in time. Instead, his mind raced.

'Why am I a villain? I haven't done anything villainous! And what does it mean by 0.01% survival chance? That's… that's basically zero! And NTR? It can't mean what I think it means, right?'

But deep down, he already knew. NTR—or Netori—was a term from certain novels that he knew all too well.

It meant stealing someone else's lover, usually in the most dramatic and scandalous way possible. It was the ultimate villain move.

The system's cold, robotic voice continued, mercilessly dropping another bombshell on him.

[The Soulbreaker System grants you unique abilities to manipulate emotions, disrupt relationships, and dominate your rivals.

Each successful NTR mission will reward you with Soul Points. Fail, and you die. Good luck.]

James stared at the air in disbelief, his thoughts a swirling storm of confusion and panic.

'Dominate rivals? Manipulate emotions? Is this some kind of evil-dating sim?!' He couldn't believe it.

In his past life, he'd always daydreamed about being a hero in some epic story—someone cunning, powerful, and untouchable. But this? This was something else entirely.

He glanced nervously at Master Yevan, who was still watching him closely, concern etched into his features.

James quickly picked up his spoon again and pretended to focus on eating, though his hand trembled as he scooped up another bite of broth.

'This can't be happening,' he thought, his mind a storm of anxiety. 'I thought I'd get a system that helps me become strong, or rich, or at least survive! Instead, I get… this?!'

And just when he thought it couldn't get worse, the system delivered its final blow.

[Ding! Issuing First Death Mission: NTR the hidden boss in this region within 90 days… or perish.]

James jerked in his seat, the words hitting him like a thunderbolt.

His grip on the spoon faltered, and before he could stop himself, he spat out the soup he had just swallowed, spraying it across the table.

Master Yevan flinched in shock, stepping back to avoid the mess. His concern deepened as he watched James clutch his head with a tortured expression.

"Young Master Kaelan, are you sure you're alright?"

James waved him off, trying to compose himself even as his mind was reeling.

'NTR a hidden boss in 90 days?! Who's the hidden boss? How do I find them? And what happens if they're married or something? I can't just—what even is my life right now?!'

Meanwhile, Master Yevan stared at the young man with growing worry.

James had been making strange faces for the past several minutes—first blank, then horrified, now utterly overwhelmed.

It was as if he were having an entire conversation with himself, and not a pleasant one.

Yevan silently prayed for the healer to arrive soon. 'Please let this be a side effect of his recovery and not… something worse.'

James, oblivious to the older man's concerns, buried his face in his hands. The food was delicious, the family seemed kind, and he was alive in a new world.

But instead of peace, he was now saddled with the most insane system imaginable.

'This is going to be a long 90 days.'
