Chapter 23: Sweet Treats

Declan drove straight from the cliffs to the lobby door of Polly’s building, the engine of the Triumph cutting into the silence of the night. Before she had the chance to chicken out, Polly asked the question that had been on her lips since he’d driven her home following the Billy situation.

“Would you like to come up?” Polly asked.

“If you’re sure,” Declan said.

“Positive!” Polly said.

Up in Polly’s apartment, she sat him in the living room and made a beeline for the kitchen. If she was to successfully seduce him Polly had to pull out the big guns. Getting her spiral notebook out of the drawer by the sink, she picked at random, what to make.

As the cupcakes baked, she made hot chocolate with little marshmallows floating onto, and went back out to where Declan sat on the love seat. Without hesitation, she squeezed cozy next to him, hoping to heck that he might put an arm around her. He didn’t, but just being that close was enough for the moment.
