In Zolgas the sudden attack of two dragons sent by Tiamat wasn't that big of a problem.
There were many reasons why, and the goddess that wanted Eric dead had learned from her past errors, dealing with the insidious mortal trying to play with greater forces, such as herself.
At first, only two of her children were, but now, the scene was completely different, as more than two dragons surrounded Eric's group.
How could it be possible for Eric not to sense their presence before such a radical encirclement?
Simple, usually in a party it was the ranger, assassin, or thief the one with the best scouting, and generally, the ability to know where the enemy was hiding.
Now Eric, and like him the other components of the group were relatively lacking in this particular expertise.
