Eric and Skalia's relationship in the past was of love and hate, or at least that was the situation for her.
Her life, surrounded by double-faced servants and a family where the concept of competing with their life on the line was thought natural, was anything apart from calm or relaxing.
In the context where those below her only told her what she wanted and those at her level tried to push her lower, the experience of finding herself challenged by a creature she thought was lower than her before actually beating her excited her.
For the first time in a while, the constant stress, not allowing her to sleep in peace, seemed to disappear at the exact moment when her name was being dirtied by the goons of her siblings because of her defeat at chess against Eric.
What would have made her angry a day before wasn't as important now.
Her dreams were filled by the man that changed her daily life a minute before literally appearing out of thin air.
