The man in front of her didn't say anything.
He kept looking at her, probably allowing her enough time to get hold of her emotions.
Katherine looked at his chiseled jaws that were squared, her gaze roaming on his face, and his styled hair, making her want to roam her fingers in them.
This was the first time in her entire life of 23 years she was feeling this kind of envy for someone.
"Miss Delilah, uh... I am sure this isn't what you wanted to say to our King's secretary," The man in the corner said, and Katherine snapped out of her daze before nodding.
She stood straight composing herself, looking at the mysterious man with a masked expression, a complete contrast to her previous astonishment.
"Thank you for saving my life," Katherine bowed to the man, who kept looking at her for a good few seconds before nodding and turning around.
He buttoned the rest of his buttons and Katherine looked at the tattoos on his hand, making her want to see them more.
There were some on his chest too that led towards his back and she wanted to see all of them, but that would be too shameless, and being called shameless right after reincarnation was the last thing on her mind.
The man looked at her from the corner of his eyes as if asking her what else she needed, and she smiled softly.
"Could you perhaps tell me what you were doing there below the hill? How did you end up saving me?" Katherine asked, finding it extremely strange that he would be in a place completely isolated from the royal Kingdom at the same time when Delilah was committing suicide.
She wasn't able to pinpoint what it was, but for some reason, the vibes around this man weren't settling well with her. It was as if there was something dark and dangerous about him that she wanted to hold and not see at the same time.
She has never felt intimidated by anyone, not even the Council and her boss, but this mere secretary…
The man looked at her up and down before he scoffed and left, leaving her flabbergasted.
Katherine - "..." Did he just scoff at her? The nerve of this guy!
Katherine looked at the man in the corner who looked at her awkwardly before following the so-called secretary out, making her sigh.
"You made a fool of yourself," the system said, and Katherine rolled her eyes.
"Talk about the right timing. It will take me some time to get used to this body. It's not my fault that I fell because of this body's clumsiness," Katherine whispered before she walked to the window, her brows scrunching when she looked at someone peeping towards the window.
However, as soon as she looked at the man, he turned around and left, making her sigh.
Her senses of a spy were already starting to work even when she was in a different body.
After changing into her outfit, which was strangely troublesome to her, Katherine sat inside the car that was to lead them to the royal palace.
Surprisingly even when she was having a near-death experience, the so-called supposed cousin sister of Delilah, never cared to come and visit her.
Then again, wasn't she brought to the royal palace as a rejected omega and maid for the so-called cousin sister?
According to the information she gathered from the memories, Delilah was first rejected by the beta of her previous Red Heaven pack because she couldn't turn into her wolf form and then by the commander here, rendering her into the belief that no one will ever love her which made her suicidal.
Her parents died long ago, and her Uncle and Aunt, who were the Alpha and Luna of the Red Heaven pack, adopted her, providing her with the basic living necessities.
Burdened with their goodwill, Delilah never realized that they kept her all because they were getting a free maid and a caretaker of her cousin Tianna.
Katherine rolled her eyes. She despised these kinds of people the most who pretend to be a good soul only to leech off the good in the person they are helping.
'You are not Katherine anymore. You are Delilah Rosewood, and it would be better if you started acting like that. Your identity as Katherine is gone,' The system reminded her once again just so that she doesn't bring unnecessary drama towards herself, and Katherine nodded.
"We are here," The driver said, and Katherine smiled at him.
"Thank you," She bowed just like the Delilah she had seen in the memories would've done.
As soon as Katherine placed her foot in the royal palace, to say she was amazed would be an understatement.
Though she worked for the royals indirectly, this was the first time she was visiting the place itself, and it amazed her.
Katherine started walking straight towards her room, knowing all too well that the kind of identity Delilah had, no one would care about her presence either way.
With a soft smile on her place, Katherine started ascending the stairs, her gaze shifting to the man who was walking downstairs at the same time with five men following behind her.
"This is the Prince you need to seduce," The system said in her head like an alarm, and Katherine's heart skipped a beat with her pupils dilating.
"But this isn't the future alpha King. He is his younger brother," Katherine remembered his image from the files she studied about the royals.
"Does that matter? The person who is supposed to be the King doesn't even make his presence known. It's obvious the younger brother would become the king," The system said again, and Katherine was about to interrupt when she remembered something.
"Hold on a second. This is Elwin Lynnette, my supposed cousin's future fiance. That's the reason Delilah and Tianna were sent here," Katherine joined the dots, and the system smirked, making her look at the devil in horror.
This system was indeed devious.
Was she seriously asking her to seduce her cousin's fiance?
"You are not serious," Katherine said.
"You need to seduce the Alpha King. That's your target. It's either him or you go back. You can start now," The system reminded her, and Katherine gritted her teeth.
The system wanted her to become the kind of woman she hated the most.
Katherine gulped as the man was nearing her and she was left shell-shocked, unsure of what she was supposed to do.
What the hell did the system want to do here in this situation?
She was contemplating what to do when her hand was suddenly held, and she was pulled a step down to the side, making her stumble and place her hand on the person who pulled her away.
Her eyes met the same pair of enchanting blue eyes, the man's mysterious scent intoxicating her, and she gulped, forgetting about where she was standing or what she was doing anymore.
"I..."
"Is everything okay?" Katherine heard the Young Prince's voice behind her, and she looked at the man with blue eyes in panic, who kept gazing at her before shifting her behind him ever so smoothly, making her heart do a flip.
"We just thought that she was blocking your way, Prince Elwin," The man who was talking earlier for this blue-eyed man said again, and the prince looked at Katherine.
"Are you okay?" He asked, making her smile awkwardly.
"What will happen to me?"
The prince smiled at her with amusement in his eyes.
"For someone who jumped down the cliff, that's a very interesting thing to say. Don't tell me you have some kind of magic potion that doesn't kill you," The prince joked, and Katherine's smile became even more awkward before she bowed to the prince, making him nod and leave.
How could she forget this so soon? In their eyes, she was the suicidal girl, Delilah.
Katherine heaved a sigh of relief, leaning back before shaking her head, completely forgetting that she was leaning on the dangerously Mysterious man, and a shiver ran down her spine when she felt him move behind her.
"I... I... Thank you?" Katherine whispered.
The mysterious man looked at her for a few seconds before he turned around and left, leaving Katherine flabbergasted for the second time.
'Jeez, what is wrong with him? Then again, what can I expect from the secretary of the rumored devilish king,' Katherine rolled her eyes.
'But wait. What if he is mute and doesn't want to show it through the hand signs because he doesn't know the language?' Katherine wondered.
That made a hell lot of sense. Katherine nodded at herself.
Prince Elwin, who was about to leave the hall, turned to look at the girl one last time, slightly intrigued.
Why did he feel like something was different about her? This was the third time he was meeting her, but anyone could see something about her was different.
He shook his head and left to meet the new prisoners in the dungeons.
Meanwhile, Katherine, who reached her room and plopped on the bed, opened her eyes when she heard a notification-like sound.
"Congratulations, on completing your first task. Reward- 10 points in charisma," The system resounded in her head, confusing her.
What the hell?
