CHAPTER 13
-PART FOUR-
"Hey! Wake up, you need to eat"
"Ughh!" I moan as I blink my eyes to adjust against the surroundings.
"What happened?" I asked him, staring at the transparent tube that stuck towards my skin.
Dextrose?
"You passed out after our fight… seems your body didn't have much strength to manage that drama" he said
"what time is it, Price?" I asked
"8 o'clock in midnight princess… Can you manage to stand up? Do you want me to just bring your dinner here?" He worriedly asked
"No I'm fine, just stay by my side no matter what" I said
We walk on the hallway towards the dining place where everyone was sitting at their own sits and waiting for us. Gray still doesn't talk as Lock and Drain was looking at a particular book.
Conception of catastrophe
"What's on it?" Lock hissed
"Some facts about 1820" Penndelton stated as he read every single details on the books
"Any incident?... any war?" Lock ask
"hmm… seems this one!" Pendelton stated tearing the pages of information they've discover.
"We're here" Price simply ask
"Hey! How are you" Knight-Lock hugged me tight as he saw me
"Hey! Watch out with the tubes!" Price authoritatively stated as he manages to bring my dextrose. According to him, I just need to finish this single tube then I'm good to go. I didn't argue with that anymore because I know he just doing this for my sake.
"Oh! I'm sorry" Lock said
"How are you?" Pendelton asked me with formality
"I'm Fine, It's just a fatigue" I stated to convince everyone that I'm alright, specially Price he seems too worried about me.
"Let's eat!" Lock stated
Tables laden with delicacies line the walls. Everything you can think of, and things you have never dreamed of, lie in wait. Whole roasted turkey and pig. Huge platters of fowl stuffed with savory fruit and nuts. Ocean creatures drizzled in sauces or begging to be dipped in spicy concoctions. Cheeses, breads, vegetables, sweets, waterfalls of rum, and streams of spirits that flicker with flames.
"Haven't you talk with Gray while I'm asleep?" I whisper to Price
"Yep!" Price simply stated as he munches a huge turkey leg
"He said that he needs time to think and process everything" He said
I just nod and finish my meal. Whatever can silence be? For is there not always the sound of your own heart? Just as with whiteness there is light, and blackness is a canvass for dreams; if there is a soul present, there is always something. And so as the quietness grows deeper and I hear my own steady rhythm from within, I call this silence. Silence that gnawed at each one of us. Silence hung in the air like the suspended moment before a falling glass shatters on the ground. The silence was like a gaping void, needing to be filled with sounds, words, anything. The silence was poisonous in its nothingness. It was eerily unnatural, like a dawn devoid of birdsong. Silence clung like a poisonous cloud that at any moment could choke the life from them. Seeped into every pore, like a poison slowly paralyzing from either speech or movement. As we finish our plate we manage to head towards the conference and let the hired maid do her duty towards the dishes.
"Knight-Lock said that you encounter the Supremo?" Pendelton asked me
"Yes" I simply answered
"What happened?" Gray finally speaks. As I glance at him I saw his worried eyes, I manage to smile at him and he smiles back
"observing the whole library while lock keeps on finding something that can help us to gathered data, when I notice something suspicious… Something strange. The books on the left side isn't flat or organize like it should be, it was brokenly arranged… not being over acted, it just that Lock and I was the only person on that part of the hall and the books are seems to be newly rearranged." I started telling them what I saw
"So that was the start?" Pendelton ask
"My suspicions start at that very moment, I can feel that someone is following us. As we walk carefully towards the hallway which leads us to the hide-out. His dark silhouette and his creepy footsteps… suddenly I feel numb, dizzy and when we discover, it is something like the needle that Gray handle us a while ago." I stated as Price hugged me with a knitted scarf.
"Lycko black out, it was like horror movies where the culprit run through us wanting revenge. I manage to call Price to ask for help but it seems the man has its own plan and we we're just his character on his play. I didn't know what to do that time but I manage to fight as I can. I kept on asking him who he was but instead of getting an answer, I get a punch. I can't see his face, he's wearing a grey mask which is an intermediate color between black and white." Knight-Lock added
"How can you guys manage to run?" Price ask
"Lycko killed supremo" Lock added, everyone looks at me as if I was a strong man who can kill hundreds of bad guys in one growl.
"How do you know that he was supremo who uses poison?" Pendelton suddenly talks while reading at the book we got.
"it is Basically by the way he fights, he doesn't know how to literally pulls a fight, what I mean is yes he can punch, he can stab, he can beat me hundred times but as I stab him I smell the cyanide on his leather coat…" I said
"How did you kill him? Kelley and Bailey said that these supremos are hard to kill?" Gray added
"at first I know I can't win against him because the effect of the serum he struck is still inside my system that time but when he speaks our language—"
"He know how to speak our language?" Prices ask
"Yes! He said that you're in danger… and suddenly my inner demon came out and I actually stab him to death… I guess?" I ask
"She tortured him… she seems different at that very moment" Knight-Lock exclaimed out of disbelief
"Which I don't know how and why I killed him" I tell the truth.
"Fuck! You're amazing" Gray exclaimed
"Have you seen his face?... did you try to remove his mask?" Pendelton asks with curiosity on his tone
"No, I didn't manage to remove his mask but I manage to get this" I said and pull the paper out of my pocket.
"H-How? I didn't saw you grabbing at his pockets" Lock curiously ask
"when I stab him and manage to play his flesh, these papers came out of his pocket and I just grab it before he notices" I added
"Maybe the Supremo was about to run when you two suddenly walks on his way out?" Price said that makes me think.
Price was actually right!
"Price was right! Instead of weapons, his pocket contains papers… which means maybe he tears out some pages or articles on the book that maybe help us to find what happened on 1820?... maybe he was not there to kill? Because if he wanted to kill me, he didn't use aripiprazole." I clearly stated
"He just wants you to fall asleep" Gray added
"Exactly! Maybe he planned to get rid of these articles for us not determined what is the real catastrophe at that year" I said
"and beating me wasn't going for kill?" Lock sarcastically ask
"Yes! He just wants to beat you, making you tired and by time comes you can easily have passed out over your fatigue" I explained
"that makes sense" Pendelton stated
"So it means, one of the supremo is finally resting in hell." Gray exclaimed his idea
"Yes! But we must be prepared for their revenge" Pendelton stated
"As long as we have each other, we'll be alright" Lock said looking attentively in each one of us.
"Guys! I saw something!" Pendelton exclaimed while focusing at the book, each one of us manage to reach out and look what's on the book.
It was a photography that shoots in sequence.
The picture was; in the half light of the alley the woman appears small. She brings one knee in to meet the other like some little girl waiting for a gelato, but this is no Italian plaza in summer time. The camera lingers on her, and in that moment we can hear through the picture that the audience take an extended breath. In the darkness could be any number of dangers, but in the end that won't matter, just one will do. I should be able to smell the popcorn of the other movie patrons, but instead the only odor is the dank alleyway in which the actress stands, too young to know the movie legend she would become a few short years later.
"Fuck! I can barely smell the scent of popcorn" Gray stated
"The weak illumination that casts her face into semi-relief isn't romantic moonlight, but instead it falters as old neon signs do. Were she to walk toward the street there would be pawn shops, hotels selling their rooms by the hour and junkies cruising for a fix. The temperature in this ambient theatre drops without warning, on the filthy ground is the shadow of a man. With steady footsteps it draws closer and, without even a warning noise, the charcoal hand takes out a pistol. The young starlet turns. A male voice tells her "It's time to pay" and a single shot fires. She drops, still perfect: soft cherry lips, hair arranged with every strand in place, ivory skin, angelic with closed lashes of thick black mascara." Pendelton read loud the mere like letter part where the page was actually tear apart.
"I can barely hear the voice by only reading its description" Price added
It was like a description or summary or something
It was incomplete at all.
"What? I don't get it" Gray mocked as Pendelton read
"How can you supposed to be enlightened when the other pieces were missing?" I hissed
"The paper!" Lock burst out on an Idea
"what?" Price exclaimed
"The paper that Lycko got from poison's pocket… maybe it has something to deal with this" he said
Pulled the crumpled paper with a blood and opened it. It contains few pages' article and complete information.
"That man was genius" –Price
"he should probably dispose that pages" –Pendelton
"Read what's on it" -Lock
"Tomb of dream"
