The Unforgettable Faces

Sadako was taken to the infirmary.

Hideyoshi was sent away later as he had been in so much shock, he sat in class quietly. The teacher felt disturbed by him being so quiet, and was also disgusted at his smell.

Hide took off his shirt in the boy's locker room and showered. Changing into his gym clothes. For a while he just sat in the room spring out.

The sensation of getting vomited on...they made it seem so romantic in rom-coms but it was really disgusting. He tucked his dirty clothes into the gym bag and grabbed it.

On his walk back to the classroom a thought occurred to him. "Did she eat the mystery meat?"

He turned away walking to the infirmary. Narrowly missing the stairwell where a bloody hand reached out for help.

The infirmary nurse was present.

She scrutinized him with her glasses.

"Oh, I'm not feeling well!" he put an arm to his forehead dramatically.

The nurse used to his shenanigans roles his eyes.

"I was already told what happen so go on and take a bed already."

He chose the bed next to the occupied one.

Sadako was sleeping on the bed, a warm compress on her forehead. There was a bottle of orange juice next to her.

He tutted. "Nnn. Nnn. Just that? She needed more in her system...But maybe she wouldn't be able to hold it down.

From the looks of her vomit she had supposing had a big meal, he could make-out chunks of bacon, eggs and toast. He bet she had one of the super sandwiches from the convenience store for breakfast. He was also tempted to buy some this morning but he couldn't, they were sold out.

He shivered recalling some of it had entered his mouth and wretched into a nearby bin surprising the nurse and himself.

"Are you okay?" She got up to take his temperature. "You're burning up."

"Huh?"

"Lie there." she shoved him down and tucked him in.

He was just about to make up an excuse to go back though.

The Nurse wasn't having it.

"Give me your mother's number, I'll have to call her to make sure you go home early."

He prattled it off. And she walked away. Listening to the sound of her heels clacking he closed his eyes.

In the end everything worked out, he had wanted to go back to sleep anyway. Heh.

Had he been conscious for any longer he would have noticed when a person entered the room and lunged at the nurse.

When he woke up, he could tell something was off even before he opened his eyes. Maybe it was the empty bed next to him. The empty quiet of the room.

He found it on the floor. A trail of blood as if someone had dragged a freshly butchered pig across the floor to be quartered.

He followed the trail to the door but it was blocked off by the nurse's desk and cabinet.

Who did this?

As he lifted a hand to remove it a voice whisper-hissed.

"Don't!"

Sadako was on the other side of the room trying to unlock the window.

"Unless you want to die."

He blinked at her.

She was speaking clearly now.

"Are you feeling better?"

"...Slightly."

He eyed the bundled purse at her side. It was clearly the nurse's satchel.

"Why are you stealing the purse?"

"Why don't you take a look around you? The whole school has gone mad. It's not like I can go down and grab my things." She struggled with opening the window so much that Hide found her pitiful and walked over. Brute forcing the stubborn lock in seconds.

"What do you mean the whole school has gone mad?"

She massaged her hands, that were red from numerous attempts. Nodded her head at the window.

Some students were getting chased across the campus, but when caught the chaser bit deeply into their necks pulling out their trachea.

He reeled back from the window. "What the fu-

She covered his mouth with her sweaty hand, and held a finger to her mouth.

"Shhh. The dead hear all, don't you know?"

He pulled away, why did he have to get stuck in a room with creepiest chick in class? Ignoring her googly eyed gaze he looked back out the window. The current scenery being a group of them hovering over one student.

He walked away and began to pace the room.

"This isn't actually happening. They're filming right?"

"In order to see what you just saw, makeup artists and a prop crew would have to be present to constantly recreate everything you just saw...only in between takes."

"What the hell is happening?"

"Are you coming with or not?"

He looked at her as if she was a lunatic.

"Have you lost your mind?"

"We're the closest to the school fence."

"And who's to say it isn't the same out there like here? Haven't you ever seen zombie movies?"

"I have. But no matter how much I think about it, it's safer to die at home than here." She was already swinging one leg out the window muttering. "I hate this place, why should I die here?"

She was already out by the time he made it to the window.

She successfully climbed onto the dumpster and over it, quietly and undetected. He pursed his lips and looked to the ceiling before jumping out to do the same.

As he climbed onto the dumpster, someone called out to him.

"Pssst. Hideyoshi!"

He looked up to see Jisoo, Namjoon and Haru all gawking at him from above.

They were too far away, he glanced at the zombies roaming about and shook his head. Jerking his thumb in the direction over the wall and made a calling signal, then the peace sign.

Namjoon was Whisper-hissing something along the lines of "Where are you heading you idiot?"

He landed on the ground only to find the streets empty. He had completely lost sight of Sadako.

The faces of his friends stranded on the rooftop came back to mind and he felt sorely sorry.

He swore under his breath and crouched low to the ground at the sound of nearby growls and running footsteps.

"Fuck, where does she even live?"
