After Lilian left, Alex felt betrayed and his personality become a little cold. No matter where he went, his memories with her kept haunting him.

This went on for a month, when he finally decided to change schools in order to help him forget, and maybe without prejudice, he could get some friends. He has heard about the game realization and transferred to the newly created Eternal Academy. 

Now he turned 16, and he even has a secret so he doesn't really want to socialize and just play the game till he feels safe enough. After he can guarantee his safety, he will delve into the mysteries of the game.

That was his plan for the upcoming time, but now seeing her appearing in front of him, he become a little distracted.

Alex really wanted to ask her why she disappeared without a word and why didn't she contacted him, but he couldn't.

From one point of view, he really wanted to question her, from another, he just wanted to keep the distance from her.

These conflicting emotions made him unable to say anything. He just stood there staring at her blankly

Lilian saw him remaining silent and approached him, saying, "It's been half a year since we last met. I hope you have been well."

Alex saw her getting closer and hurriedly took 2 steps back. "I am well now. The vice-principal asked me to help his daughter. Is that you?"

As she saw him keeping a distance, she felt as if her heart broke, but she forced a smile out and said, "Yes I am. I think the two of are enough to take them down one by one."

"Good. Let's team up and finish this quest fast."

Alex said and invited her.

"Deathwhisper invited you to join his team. Do you accept?"

Lilith accepted the invitation and said expectantly, "now that we have met again, do you want to level up together or catch up in reality and talk about the past?"

Alex refused, but still gave a reasonable excuse. "Sorry, but since we just started playing, it is easier to level up alone and I have little time in reality because of the same reason."

She knew he was just making excuses, but she still spoke with a reluctant smile," You are right, we will have times for that later. Let's focus on the bandits first."

Alex picked up a small rock from the ground and asked, "ready?"

Lilith nodded and Alex throw the rock at the bandit, the later was immediately enraged and chased after him. Making sure that only one of them chased them, they lured it to an open space and the fight begin.

Alex quickly used his various skills

Ofcourse Lilian didn't just watched the fight as he pulled the bowstring and after a slight channeling time he released an attack, if Alex remembers this was one of basic skills of the tamer "headshot"

Compared to Alex's main damage skill, it wasn't significant because the tamer focuses more on repeated attack with low CDs and their tamed pets. Which is only available after reaching level 5.

The advantage of teaming up become clear as Alex kept dodging the bandit attacks while she only had to stand in place and continue to attack. Roughly 3 minutes later, the bandit died.

"Killing [Elite bandit], acquired 9xp, 3 energy!"

"You get 20 copper coins!"

"You get a piece of cloth!"

Alex didn't devour it because they were fighting in a team and it will be definitely noticed. So this time he just got the normal notifications.

"Good job. Let's recover and finish the other 2 too."

Lilian said as she sat down and consumed potions.

Alex did the same and quickly sit down to recover. After restoring their HP and MP, they lured the other 2 bandits and finished them within a few minutes.

"Do you want to come with me to submit the quest together?" asked Lilian, hopefully.

Alex's words poured cold water on his enthusiasm as he rejected her. "Thank you for the invitation. But I am close to the next level up, so I will stay to clear some skeletons."

Lilian was sad since he got rejected again and almost cried. "At least we can add each other as friends, right?"

Seeing her like this, Alex also felt a little guilty and said, "Of course, I sent a friend invitation. Maybe we can team up at later stages."

Lilian checked his friend's list, and after seeing his name, she was satisfied. "I hope we can be together just like before, and I will do my best to get your trust back. See you later Alex."

Saying these last words, she quickly logged off.

Alex looked at her leaving figure and shook his head. "If only that will be that easy. " He sighed and looked for roaming skeletons.

On the other side

After Lilian got up from his capsule, she laid down on the bed, "He's obviously trying to keep his distance from me. It seems we can't be like we used to be. What can he think of me when I suddenly appeared in front of him after leaving him alone?"

Thinking about it again, her eyes got watery as she murmured softly, "I'm sorry for breaking my words and leaving you, Alex. You had to suffer injustice for helping me and suffer because of my cowardice. Yet I still left you there to endure it alone."

Otto, who was about to knock on his door, stopped when he heard her crying and clenched his fist tightly. He stood still until he heard steady breathing from the room and left quietly.

"ahh my lovely daughter, I know it's unfair to you, but it's for your own good. And that fucking brat, how dare he make my daughter cry. If I see him again, I will castrate him."

Otto whispered as he walked away
