14. Where is she?

"Even after you know everything why the heck are you overreacting?", Mr. W pushed Leo away. "You know they couldn't find enough evidence", Leo said. Mr. W scoffed, "Exactly they couldn't prove her crime and she is out there living her life". "The real murderer could be someone else like-" Leo paused probably not able to say anything out of anger. "Then she should give me evidence to prove her innocence.", Mr. W said in a neutral tone and left.

Ava was at John's place. She was sitting on the beige couch in the living room which was quite spacious with minimum furniture. John walks in with two glasses of wine and hands one to Ava. She takes a sip of wine and rests it on the black coffee table. John was already sitting beside her but she didn't notice as she was distracted by thoughts of Leo. "What are you thinking?", John asked gazing at Ava who was staring at the fireplace. "Why did you run away?", she asked trying to take the conversation smoothly towards her target. "He could have exposed us", John didn't have any reason to lie to her. Ava picked up the glass of wine and drank the whole wine in one breath. She puts the glass down with force, which made the glass crack a little but not enough to break. John didn't pay much attention to it, moreover Ava looked calm. "How did he know? Do you know him?", she asked coldly. "Don't know him personally", John replied.

The next day

At college the news about Zara spread quickly. "Hey, you knew about this didn't you?", asked a girl sitting near Pearl. Before she could reply Lawrence pulls out the chair beside Pearl and sat down. The girl cranes her neck forward and Lawrence puts his bag on the desk to block her. The girl rolled her eyes and looked away.

"Do you know where she is?", Lawrence asked in a low voice. Pearl shakes her head. Zara never told her except that she will be back in a few days. "I met her yesterday", he told her. "You did? When?", Pearl got curious. "When she was leaving the wedding hall", he said in a neutral tone. "Didn't tell me where she'll be going or anything but I gave her my number just incase", he added. "Hmm I just helped her escape but she didn't tell me where she was going", Pearl disclosed. "But did you see what Ava did?", he asked. "Wait Ava is behind all this?", she gaped. Pearl left soon after Zara did, so she had no idea what happened afterwards. Lawrence nods slowly and glares at Ava sitting a few seats away who didn't notice him.

"But there's something I've prepared", he said and flashed a mischievous smile. Pearl gave him a confused look. The teacher comes in and starts teaching. Lawrence shows Pearl a video, it was shot from outside John's house. It was when Ava visited John's place for the first time, the terrace was visible from the ground floor, not full but one could see tables and chairs, plus the glass railing was another factor. The video then zoomed in at the digital clock on a wall nearby that also showed the day and date, which made it clear that the two were dating way before the wedding.

Flashback

Lawrence was in his car with a guy. He grabs the man's neck and pulls him into a kiss. He breaks the kiss and then his lips travel down to the neck, kissing and then piercing his fangs into the man's skin to drink his blood. The other man was a vampire too, he starts feeling dizzy and then lost consciousness. Lawrence stopped and gazed at the man, then he places his hand on the man's neck to feel his pulse, it wasn't there. He lets out a dry laugh then suddenly punched the window which was at the side where the man was sitting. His face hardened and he leans back on his seat.

He looks outside the car window and his unfocused gaze turned to focused one when he saw John and Ava. He didn't know who John was, he smirked and started recording the two.

End of flashback

"Will you upload it?", Pearl asked surprised. "Should I?", Lawrence quizzed with a smirk. Pearl shrugged her shoulder with an amused look. Lawrence uploaded the video through an anonymous account and tagged a few students. Pearl was left agaped, she hits on Lawrence's shoulder playfully. The students start checking their phones. Ava's friend gasped as she saw the video and shows it to her. Ava felt her heart drop.

A bunch of men were sitting at a huge table, they were the elders. Older than most vampires around them, they also held important positions in human world or were simply very rich. Most of them looked young, as if they were in their thirties but some looked old too, they were probably humans who turned into vampires. "Where did she go?", one of the men yelled at Mr. Albert. "We checked her room but she wasn't there. They are searching for her", he replied in a formal tone. "I want to see her here by tomorrow", the man ordered and Mr. Albert nodded.

Earlier in the morning Zara was sitting near the window. She saw that the sun was rising, "I don't deserve to be here", she thought and started walking backwards. She then ran and jumped out of the window, landing on the boundary wall just as she had planned. She then made her way into the city after crossing the forest.

It was almost midnight, Zara was standing in front of a building. "He must be here", she mumbled and looked down as she pulls out a knife from her pocket. It was the same knife that she was stabbed with by the man she killed. Zara puts the knife back in her pocket and walks briskly towards the building.
