13. The real reason

Zara woke up feeling a little dizzy, everything was same as when she had lost consciousness. For a moment she did wish it was a nightmare. Zara noticed the door was open, she got up and stepped out. It was the same group of men who escorted her downstairs. A middle aged man, standing in front bows and greets her, "Congratulations. This way please". He was sopposed to act as secretary of the king or queen. He wore glasses, had medium length black hair. They take her to the hall again. Zara walks on the red carpet that led to the throne. Mr. W was left aghast, "No way", he said in disbelief as his eyes narrowed. Everyone was in shock, it took less than twenty minutes for Zara to win. Usually because vampires can't die easily, the fight lasted for more than half an hour or so. Zara was walking as if nothing happened. She stood in front of the throne. "Congratulations", the host said in a formal tone and continued, "It is really impressive-", he stopped as Zara cuts in. "Where is my room?", she asked coldly. "I asked where my room is, Don't want to tell me? I'll find it myself", she said and stormed out of the hall. The crowd murmered in confusion. "This way", the middle aged man from ealier, Mr. Albert followed her outside and quickly showed Zara way to her room. Zara walked through the dimly lit path, she didn't really pay attention to any of it or just couldn't. The middle aged man open the wooden door for her. "I'd like to be alone for some time", she said and locked the door.

Mr. W stormed out of the palace. He sat in his car and closed the door in anger. "Just wait this is not the end Zara", he gritted his teeth in anger and started the car. Leo who was on his way to the palace saw Mr. W drive past him. Leo quickly turned around, accelerated the car and overtook him. He soon stops the car causing Mr. W to pull over as well. Leo came out of the car and opened Mr. W's car door. He grabbed Mr. W by his collar and pulled him out of the car. "What happened to Zara?", Leo asked as he glared at Mr. W who smirked at him when he heard her name. "At this point you are worrying about her more than her family", he said amused. "I saw you at the bar", Leo told him. "What?", Mr. W's eyebrows knitted.

Flashback

Leo was following Mr. W for a while and saw him going inside a bar. Mr. W saw Ava and John sitting together at the bar. He then went upstairs and sat down at one of the tables near the glass railing from where it was possible to see what was going on downstairs. Leo stood at the stairs, he noticed Mr. W texted someone and looked down. Leo followed his gaze, Ava recieved a text and she said something to John which wasn't audible. He couldn't figure out what Mr. W was trying to do there. Mr. W got up, Leo went downstairs and sat at one of the tables far from Ava and John. After Mr. W left he tried to find out more about the two but couldn't.

Soon he got background check done on the two and found out who John was.

End of Flashback

"You were following me?", Mr. W asked in surprise with a smirk. "Where is Zara?", he pushed Mr. W against the car in rage. He felt annoyed as Zara's thought came to her mind. "She won", he said in a bitter tone. Leo felt relieved. "But I'm more excited to see what happens in the future", he said with a sinister smile. Leo glared at him, he knew well what his brother had to go through.

At the palace Zara sat down on the bed with a sigh after locking the door, it was a king size bed. The room was quite large, it had a closet, there were two sofas and a table, side tables on each side of the bed. The black furniture stood out against the dark red patterned walls. It managed to get Zara's attention even though she wasn't feeling well. The room was well lit and had a window, through which one could see the forest that surrounded the palace. At night one might prefer to keep the curtains closed because of how scary it looked. Zara lied down on the bed and closed her eyes. Memories of her killing that man flashed through her mind. She clenched her fist tight enough to pierce her skin and got up from the bed. She opened the fist and saw her hand was bleeding. She looked outside the window and went near it. Some movement in the forest caught her attention. Zara saw some people walking in a line. They were walking with difficulty, she saw a guard with them. "What is going on here", Zara thought.

"Tsk. It can be fair to say that people in your life paid the price for you to sin in future", Leo blurted out. His words aggravated Mr. W, he punched Leo on his face, Leo punched him back and pushed him onto his car's trunk. Mr. W grunted and turned around to face him. "What is your problem?", he asked exasperated. "I found out why you are trying to ruin Zara's life", he walked towards Mr. W, who leaned back on the car to stay away from Leo. "Hah, why would I do that?", Mr. W was kind of confident that Leo wouldn't know the real reason. "Because you think Zara killed your sister", Leo said.
