Urgent Meeting (I)

She shut the door and went inside the dining room. She grabbed her things and placed them in her bag.

Thereafter, she strolled upstairs and prepared the outfits for work. It was a black long-sleeve turtleneck and matching leather brown below-the-knee, also the knee-high 4 inches boots.

She stepped inside her shower room and took off all her clothes. Then, she opened the sink to fill up the bathtub before she put her bath bomb and strode inside the bathtub.

Thereafter, she dried her wet body before wearing her clothes. She crouched in front of the makeup desk to put on some light makeup and styled her black long hair.

A cute sound came from the living room as soon as she stepped outside the room. She smiled sweetly and strolled to the living room.

And there, she saw their cat, "Evie".

"Where have you been?" She asked and kneel in front of her cat. She 'meow' as her answer.

"You're in Aus' room again, aren't you? You two are inseparable." She uttered while petting her all over her body.

"Are you hungry? I'll prepare your food before I go to work." She uttered and stood.

She strolled inside the kitchen and prepared her food. Then, she placed the bowl on the floor and watched her eating her food.

Suddenly, her phone rang inside her purse so she hurriedly stood and grabbed her phone.

She glanced at the screen and glimpsed her secretary's name so she answered.

"What's the matter, Cheslea?"

"Ms. Mar, you need to come here quickly."

"Wait, why? It's only 8 am for my meeting."

"I know but it's urgent."

"How urgent?"

Her secretary took a deep breath before she replied, "the secretary of the CEO of Martin Enterprises is here to have an urgent report regarding the construction supply."

She just sighed and said, "fine. Just tell Mrs. Riley that I'll be there as soon as possible. Just give me 10 minutes, okay?"

"Sure do, Miss Mar."

She just sighed and hung up the call. Her cat ran towards her and clung to her ankle. She knelt and clasped the bowl.

She placed the bowl and washed them before leaving the apartment with her purse and laptop bag.

Then, she wandered outside and straight to the car where it parked beside the apartment.

She opened her car and placed her things beside the driver's seat. Once she drove the car, her focus was on the road.

The car stopped from the stoplight sign. She grabbed her phone to call her secretary but as she looked outside, her eyes widened from the person crossing the pedestrian lane.

Her heart thumped, unconsciously dropping her phone as soon as she saw the familiar figure. Her gaze never tricked her, it was someone she knew.

It wasn't just a familiar person… yet, she knew for a very long time.

"I-it can't be… I left the place without a word 8 years ago. But why was he here?" She asked whilst clenching her fist at the steering wheel.

A loud honk waking her from reality. She cleared her throat and wiped the tears before looking at the stoplight.

"Green light…" she murmured and drove to her company.

Exactly ten minutes, she arrived at the company and stepped inside. The staff greeted her as she smiled at them.

Her secretary was patiently waiting for the CEO's arrival beside the VIP elevator.

Cheslea Albert was her secretary ever since the CEO was appointed last five years ago. They had been great friends since college with George.

Jaymianne saved her life when she almost got in a car accident. After what happened, she made up her mind to stay by her side.

"Cheslea, sorry for waiting." She uttered.

"It's fine, Miss Mar."

They stood, waiting for the elevator to open. Cheslea stayed in silence and thought about how to explain the bad news.

"Just spill it out, Cheslea. What happened?"

Her secretary glanced at her boss and was terrified of her reaction to the huge problem the company encountered.

"Just tell me." She uttered calmly.

The elevator door opened before her explanation spilled. They stepped inside as Cheslea pushed the floor number of Jaymianne's office.

And it suddenly closed.

"We are just the two of us, Cheslea. Tell me what's going on."

Cheslea responded with a nod and took a deep breath before explaining what happened.

"The CEO wanted to deliver the supplies tomorrow in the morning…"

"Tomorrow?! Why suddenly?"

"They wanted to work for the charity as soon as possible so they wanted it to be delivered by tomorrow at 9 in the morning."

"We can do that."

"You see Jayme… Our materials aren't ready yet."

"Then, call Drake. He was the one who was assigned the supplies that we will be ordering in Japan." She explained.

"We can't contact Drake this morning. His phone was out of coverage."

She sighed in frustration but she needed to calm down since the secretary of Martin Enterprises was here for an urgent report.

"Try to contact him and if you can't contact them, then mind visiting him at his apartment. He handled a huge amount of money. It's not just $1 Million but $20 Million." She explained and stepped out of the elevator once it opened.

"Noted Miss Mar. I'll bring some tea for Mrs. Riley and iced coffee to your office."

"Thank you, Cheslea, for covering it up for me and also, for making me an appointment with Mr. Suarez by tomorrow at 3 pm."

"Okay."

As she stepped inside the office, there was a middle-aged woman with light blue long-sleeve polo with a black over-the-knee pencil cut. She styled her blonde hair in a clean bun and complemented her blue eyes.

She greeted the woman with a smile and offered a shaking hand.

"Mrs. Riley, what brings you here?" She asked as a play-safe statement.

Cheslea placed the tea and iced coffee on the table. Her boss moyoud 'thank you' to her. She bowed at them before leaving the premises.

Mrs. Riley clasped the cup and smelled it before taking a sip.

"You know me too well, Miss Mar."

"Don't flatter me, Mrs. Riley. That's the least I could do since your boss entrusted the small company with the big project."

She smiled and placed the cup on the table. Then, her eyes gazed at the CEO, intertwining her hands.

"That's the reason why I'm here, Miss Mar. I came for an initial report for the materials and discussed it with Mr. Sphinx." She explained.

'Initial report?'

It was the CEO's job to report personally to the client. But why did the secretary discuss the initial report with her boss?

The moment Mrs. Riley stepped her feet inside the office, there was something off about her.

However, the supplies weren't ready, and even the initial report. She was screwed.
