Scapegoat: Part 1

A massive smile lit up Izuku's face. Who wouldn't smile if they found themselves $20000 richer? After waddling through the alleyway of dead bodies and through the doors of the building that Haru and his goons were guarding, he found 2 bags filled to the brim with bank notes.

Slinging the bags on his back, he turned around, scouring the room for the drugs the thugs mentioned. A loose brick, a displaced floorboard; so many places it could be hidden. However, he already had a sneaky suspicion about where they were. His intuition was proved correct when he crushed the loose brick in his hand. They were in the walls.

Imbuing his fist with cursed energy, Izuku bought down the central wall of the building. And lo and behold, there were the drugs. Blue bricks that were carefully interspaced between the red ones. He tucked one of the bricks into his bags and began to leave - he could hear police sirens in the distance.

As he approached the doorway, a sudden thought seemed to cross Izuku, and he hurriedly returned to Haru's dead body. Izuku's eyes looked down and were drawn to a single area on Haru; his wrist. A twinkling watch reflected his face.

(LINE BREAK)

Yes, this tops the list, Diego thought. This is definitely the worst night of my fucking life. After watching his mates being killed by a kid in front of him, he had spent the next hour putting as much distance as possible between himself and that green-haired maniac. The next hour was spent hiding in a trash can from the cops. And after a day of laying low in his small, dingy apartment, the police came knocking on his door. The following 2 days were spent in a police station.

"It's not looking good, Mr Shinso." A weary anaemic-looking lawyer sat opposite him. He had a forgettable name. "To put it simply, you're facing life in prison."

29 dead bodies. Remnants of an unknown drug found scattered all over the place. And property damage. Diego had no idea why they added that onto his list of supposed crimes. The former 2 were enough to net him life in prison.

Yep, this really tops the fucking cake, Diego thought. He put his face in his hands and screamed.

"Are you done, Mr Shinso?"

Diego felt his eye twitch. "Yes, I'm fucking done."

"Why won't you talk? It's clear to me that you did not kill those men. Even if your fingerprints were found all over the crime scene."

A loud silence greeted those words.

"Are you afraid of your employers? The police can protect you."

Yeah fucking right, Diego thought, rolling his eyes. These guys are everywhere. If I even so much say a single word, they'll know. And then you'll be lucky to even find pieces of my body.

His lawyer sighed. "I cannot help you if you don't help me, Mr Shinso. I at least need your -" The entire building shook, cutting the lawyer off.

"What on earth is goi-"

The lights suddenly shut off. The lawyer got up and made a beeline towards the door. "Hey, is everything alri-" Gunfire interrupted the lawyer.

A shared glance between Diego and his lawyer conveyed their shared panic. They both began to tug at the door handle wanting to escape from whatever seemed to be making its way towards them.

Just as the handle began to turn, Diego sensed that something was wrong. Severely wrong indeed. He jumped back just in time before the door to the interrogation room they were in was blown off its hinges, flattening the lawyer.

"Fuck! Did I hit someone?" A new voice spoke from the settling dust. A voice that Diego recognised. A voice he had heard only a few hours ago. A voice that signalled death. "Aw, man. Did I kill him?"

Though the face was masked, Diogo knew precisely who the invader was. The last thing Diego remembered before darkness took him was a pair of startling blue eyes.
