The House of Shiudrai
To many vampires, humans are just food, not worth concern beyond maintaining livestock. But Shiudrai Vampiric law maintains a higher order. As the strongest of the immortal lines of vampires, Shiudrai law dictates how humans are to be handled. Ancient vampires detest that the Shiudrai have begun interbreeding as a method to keep vampires from human feeding. New halflings support it as an effort for both races to evolve.
As the fourth child and only daughter of Hestia, the half Vampire Empress, Siene is considered a beauty. Doted on by her halfling brothers, she lives happily among the humans at the palace of King Rostrum of Europa. As primary consort to the king, Hestia's three sons are raised as heirs to the throne.
However, after surviving a vicious attack that seriously surpresses her immortality, Empress Hestia must return to her ancestral home to recover. Suprisingly, she requests that the 10 year old Siene return with her to be trained as a personal Imperial guard.
Several years later, toddler triplets born during Hestia's recovery are kidnapped. Fear races through the vampire world as an ancient Shiudrai Prophecy concerning the birth of vampire triplets is uncovered. Only the combined strength of the Shiudrai clan and their rigid laws can maintain control between vampires and the unknowing human race.
Barely out of training, Siene takes it as her personal quest to find her sisters. Being a human half-breed she knows she has a shorter life expectancy than most of her Shiudrai brethren, but her tenacity never waivers as the years pass. Despite Siene's growing unease at her weakening vampiric skills and abilities, she finds herself gaining other odd talents.
With help from allies she has gathered along the way, she searches continuously for her sisters. She's been told she must reach them before their Quickening or the Shiudrai clan and humanity could succumb to danger from the ancients within the vampire world.
