Chapter 1Unknown visitor, unknown invitation!

While looking at the dazzling sky full of shining stars, me and my father notice a pretty big star positioned exactly on top of our house.

"Wow!!" ... My father is really amazed.

I ask if it is that rare or amazing to see such a star among the others.

"It is rare! I had never seen such a dazzling star before. It is really rare, at least for me."

Well, the star sure shines so brightly that it almost looks like daylight covers the whole area.

"Could it be that God is giving us a price for our good deeds? Being a good person is pretty hard nowadays, after all!" ... Father speaks, expressing that he is really convinced God does.

It does not even feel like he is asking about it; it is more like he is waiting for me to agree to the idea.

" Sigh,...." I let out a breath.

I will not stop his belief; he really looks happy after all.

While we both looked at the sky calmly, we heard a sudden knock on the door. It gives me a little bit of surprise that it causes my body to vibrate. Well, it's to be expected considering you fully enjoy a scenery that really is relaxing, leaving worries aside, and giving no or less of a care to the world. It looks like you gave your guard up to the scene, unaware of what was happening in your surroundings.

Looking happily at the sky while thinking of the future, I did not notice I had been staring upward for a pretty long time. All of a sudden, I remember that my father has not yet come back. Knowing this, I took a step to go and check what was up when my bracelet started to ring and I heard my father's voice.

"Take your little sister and run now!"

"Huh? What...?

To my surprise, I ran to see what was going on. I open the door leading to the ground floor and rush over to the stairs when I see my little sister's back flying towards me. Not having a second thought, I catch her looking at the scene where I see a person in a red cloak holding a knife that is shining a red light.

"What... is... happening...? What is that?"

Knowing it's not a natural item created, it gives me fear for every possible outcome. What is that thing? Who is that person? Is it here to harm us?

A blue light begins to surround us. It shapes into a circle, becomes a sphere-like shield, and brings us outside of the house.

I reached out my hand slowly, hoping I could grab my parents out there.

Thinking of the situation, I stayed speechless and couldn't move an inch. What will I do? I want to help. Will I only become a hindrance if I do?

Dealing with this in my mind, I see that I am getting far from them, unable to get out of the sphere of light that carries us.

No way..

Where are we going? What are we going to do? .. A tear flows from my eye as I speak in a weak voice, watching the whole household shake due to the intense fighting going on inside. Then, looking over them from afar, with the thought that I would not be able to see them again, I called to them in a very loud voice.

"Father!!! Mother!!! Where are we going? What are we going to do?

What are you two still doing there? Dont fight!!! Run!!! "

My family is a well-skilled hunting family that keeps the protection of the kingdom, which is why hearing their voices as they struggle to handle a single person makes me understand how serious the situation is.

I have to save my little sister. It is not like I can't fight, but if the situation goes wrong, we might be caught up in the fight, putting her in danger.

Yeah.. I can still feel the guilt of leaving them behind while I am being put to safety. But this is the right thing to do. The sounds I hear as the side walls of the house are torn apart by the mere passing of the slashes as their weapons make contact are not something we can handle. This signals that we should already run as fast as possible.

This frustrates me. I have no choice but to take my sister and leave my parents behind. I can't stop hoping for them to stop fighting and run instead.

Knowing they do fight to buy us time so we can escape, I rushed and flew away from them using the equipment my father put on my sister's clothes.

After reaching a pretty long distance, I am finally about to say we are already safe in our spot and tell them they can run unworried of our safety when my bracelet rings once again.

"Run... Run...run Azroths!! Save yourself and your sister!"

I heard them call out to us in a very aggressive tone.

What could have happened?

Hearing this, I cant stop myself but look back, and upon turning my head, blood showed up in front of my face with a little smart feeling on my cheek. It's only at that moment that I realise the house has been cut in half along with the ground, and the sphere shield enclosing us has been shattered into the air by a red light that has reached our distance.

Seriously? That attack still got us this far. Needless to say, that remnant light just slightly made contact with the shield. And it shatters it?

No way.. Can they even run from that person?

Seeing that, I frowned as I fell down into the woods, thinking how unlucky we are.

Ahh... This feeling is news to me. It appears I accept the death of my parents even though I can still hear their voices just in my wrist.

I embrace my sister, holding my tears, and then I close my eyes to wait to see what happens next.

There, I falls down continuously until I realised that it was a dream and that I was asleep at the moment.

I wake up with a teary eye and a numb body, resulting from the dream that always happens every night from the past 5 years.

"Oh.. That again, huh?"

After this, as usual, I go to the adventurers guild and look for a job to help the people. Instead of adventuring into dungeons as an adventurer usually does, I keep myself busy helping townspeople to distract myself from loneliness. Although it has been 5 years, it is still clear to me what feelings I had at the time. Thus, I keep talking to every person I meet and helping them with their needs.

In the woods where the new job takes place, I encounter a strong beast that is supposed to be in the dungeon. What in the world is this thing doing here? I ask myself, knowing it won't even scratch me. When I pulled out my sword, the air pressure followed upward, covering the whole area in dust.

As the smoke passes away, over there is a beast vertically cut into half, along with the gigantic trees surrounding it.

"Well, my job is done. This should be more than enough."

I walk towards the requester, humming my favourite music, as I see a man from the church talking about the end of the world. I pass by as my eyes keep on looking at the man while my head and body go straight to the town.

I got my reward money and went to the guild to have a chat with the other adventurers while drinking alcohol. It really is much more fun to stay in a place that is free from violence and such.

I was walking on the street, heading to my apartment, when I saw a guy in a red cloak waiting outside. It approaches me, handing me an envelope, saying... Good evening, adventurer. You are invited to a certain place.

"Invitation?"

I replied, wondering what it could be.

The guy signalled me to read what was inside and leave.

I look down at the envelope with an empty expression on my face because I can't understand why I got an invitation. I recall nothing about anything that happened today or yesterday.

Well, it will not be so bad if I read this letter, as long as it is not a bomb. After all, I have been talking with the people in the town and with my clients considerately and joyfully for a while now. More likely a manifestation of gratitude, hehe.

After entering my apartment, cooking something, and eating, I dive into bed satisfied for the day.

I have this happy face, remembering the things I and everyone else have done, when suddenly I remember how my family keeps going to town, helping people relieve stress from their stressful day. A dark feeling suddenly overcomes me as I realise that it won't happen again. There is "no one" in the town who resembles how my family acts.

I give a thought to myself, saying how I was doing, look at my hand shaking due to worry, and then take a look at the town through the window.

Whoah!! This view really calms me down. Seeing people walk there and there and do their usual activities gives me exactly what I need. The world is still beautiful!

But, as I thought, seeing this beautiful place was not enough to entertain me. If I sleep now, that dream, or should I say memory, will give me nightmares just like it always does.

I put both hands on my head, forcing myself to endure the frustration.

Aaaaargh!!! I express my frustration by holding my voice down, which makes it hard for me to breathe. This always happens when I am alone. I cannot help myself from sadness if I have nothing to distract me from or things to entertain me.

Fortunately, a refreshing breeze comes my way through the window where I am facing. It calms me down, giving me hope to proceed a little more. I look at the sky, which refreshes me from everything that has happened. After all... This sky looks exactly like the starry nights me and my family used to enjoy together when they were still living.

Yeah, my parents and the whole kingdom love peace and beauty, in things, in scenery, and especially in people.

Even though the kingdom is peaceful and there are no conflicts among the citizens, as my parents originally strived for, there are still things that I want.

I keep thinking over it when I make contact with something that makes me remember the invitation envelope that I almost forgot even though I just received it.

Oh right! I had just received an invitation.

I reach out to the envelope and open it up, saying, "This could be a party or something like that." Then, when I set my eye on the letter, a word caught my attention:

" M.. Magic? "

"Huh, what is this?"

As I read for more detail, it really did pique my interest, for somehow I used to be looking for such things, hoping they existed.

Yeah! There are things you can only do when you have extraordinary power!

I then give myself a free fall into bed and go to sleep excited for the next day that is coming to me with this unknown phenomenon. Magic that is...

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.
