Uninvited, A Vampire Becomes Part of My Youth

Hikigaya Hachiman always considers himself to be different from others because of how he views the world. He professes to be a genuine person as he doesn't hide behind a mask. Deep down, of course, he knows he is just afraid to form a meaningful relationship; traumatized by what happened to him and unable to move on. What will happen if Hikigaya Hachiman truly turns into something else that makes him different from others? How will he view the world now that he is not something he used to be? Can he accept himself? How will his change affect the people around him? "So... I am a Vampire now?" --- Disclaimer: Yahari Ore no Seishun Rabukome wa Machigatteiru belongs to Wataru Watari. I am just a mere fan who can't help exploring the possible scenarios that each character could face and how they will react.

Now wearing a new pair of sneakers, I found myself sitting across from Kiss-Shot in a restaurant in the mall. We were eating our ramen wordlessly, letting the slurping sound fill the silence. I was delighted to find ramen still tasted as good as when I was still human. I had been worried that my sense of taste might have changed but now I was relieved.

"I am not too eager to talk about it, but I have to say it," Kiss-Shot began. "Life as a Vampire is harsher than that of human. You have to watch your back for eccentric Vampires and Vampire hunters. Therefore, you need to learn how to fight. As soon as we get home, I will teach you how to defend yourself with or without the Vampire's power."

So, that's why she bought me gym wear. Gulping down my ramen, I remarked, "Didn't know they existed—Vampire hunters. I thought they were just fiction."

"Why did you seem surprised when you have become a Vampire?" Kiss-Shot retorted. "Some of the things about us are exaggerated and completely misunderstood in fiction, but most of them are spot on. Myths about us didn't just suddenly appear out of nowhere with nothing inspiring them, don't you think?"

"Never thought that way."

We became silent once again and focused on our food. We finished it not long after and immediately went home after paying. The trip home was once again quiet yet not uncomfortable. Kiss-Shot told me to change into my training outfit as soon as we arrived and I did just that. She then told me to wait outside as she changed into her training outfit. A moment later, she came out wearing her gym wear that accentuated her figure.

"Let's go to the gym."

The apartment had a gym just a floor below the rooftop. On our way there, some people in the hallway sneaked a glance at Kiss-Shot, while some not even bothering to hide their stare. No one dared to approach her or comment inappropriately, though, as her gaze was cold enough to freeze hell. Before long, we arrived at the gym.

Some eyes turned to Kiss-Shot but they immediately ignored her soon after. The gym rates were more interested in their workout. Kiss-Shot immediately took me to a separate room which was designated for sparring. She told me to sit down somewhere as she approached one of the guys in the room and asked him to spar. The guy immediately looked at her apprehensively before glancing in my direction as if asking for help.

Ah, I think these people are afraid of her instead of not interested in her. Ignoring the guy's look, I turned to Kiss-Shot just as she said 'watch.' They moved to the center of the mat and bumped their fist before throwing punches. A lot of intricate moves were exchanged before Kiss-Shot eventually slaughtered the guy.

Bam!

"It's your turn," Kiss-Shot exclaimed, ignoring the guy who was sprawled unconscious on the ground.

"Can I pass? I don't want to die."

Kiss-Shot just glared at me and I relented immediately. Standing up, I wore the gloves and walked toward her. She looked at me up and down before telling me to take a stance. Instinctively, I copied what that poor guy just did. She gave me a nod of appreciation before assuming her stance. Then, unannounced, my life flashed before me.

Swish!

I just dodged a kick out of instinct but I was sure I was dead at one point. A nervous smile crept up my face as I noticed Kiss-Shot approaching me. She told me to watch for every one of her movements which only amplified my nervousness. Thankfully, my reflexes and instinct were amazing enough to save me.

I didn't know when, but by the time I knew it, I was trading blows with Kiss-Shot like a professional MMA athlete. My body moved as if I had been doing it for years. In truth, I was just copying what the guy before me did while tweaking some of his movements here and there. It wasn't hard to conclude that Vampires had an amazing learning ability.

Bam!

Just as I wondered if I could finally beat the all-knowing Ice Queen with my newfound learning ability, I was slammed to the mattress. It was not enough to knock me out, but my breath still escaped my lungs involuntarily.

"Stand up. You have no time to relax until the afternoon," Kiss-Shot stated.

"It's already after—"

Whoosh!

I was cut off by a powerful punch and I once again thanked my reflex for saving my life. My delight didn't last long, unfortunately, as I found myself receiving hits continuously without being able to return a single one. Kiss-Shot's movements became harder to track and unpredictable. I was slammed to the ground three times before could defend myself decently. At this point, quite a lot of people were watching us spar.

"Keuh!"

Grunting as I blocked a jab, I thrust my foot at Kiss-Shot's abdomen which predictably missed. Kiss-Shot took a step back before suddenly lashing out her foot. I had to tilt my body backward to dodge it. This allowed her to sweep me off my feet, but I didn't fall as I did a backflip. The spectators gasped in surprise and I had to admit that I was also surprised.

We approached each other before trading blows again. We blocked each other's hits, desperately trying to score a hit. At least, that was the case on my part. I believed Kiss-Shot could easily hit me if her bored look was any indication. At one point, I noticed a gap in her defense. Wasting no time, I sent my punch there.

Whoosh!

I stopped my punch a couple of centimeters away from its target as I found Kiss-Shot's fist a hair's breadth away from my face. Both of us smirked at each other and agreed to call it a day. Some people were quite eager to strike up a conversation with us but no one dared to do it. They seemed to be quite put off by Kiss-Shot's gate. Thanks to her, we could get out of the gym peacefully.

I took a bath as soon as we got to her room. I was sweating like I had never been but I felt refreshed. The fatigue was there but the refreshed feeling beat it. After finishing my bath, I wore my homey clothes which were comprised of a simple T-shirt and a pair of shorts. I got out of the bathroom and found Kiss-Shot waiting in front of it.

Wordlessly, she entered the bathroom. I made myself comfortable on the sofa. Checking my phone, I immediately turned it off when I found messages from Yuigahama about what had gotten into me for me to decide to camp with a friend nonetheless. I swear these guys are underestimating me too much. I can make friends too, you know!

After idling on the sofa for fifteen minutes, Kiss-Shot emerged out of the bathroom wearing a white one-piece. She would have looked innocent in it if it wasn't for her bountiful assets. I wisely looked away while fighting down a blush. To get the image of her cleavage out of my mind, I wondered what was for dinner. My answer came in the form of a glass filled with blood.

"Let's have a dinner first before having our night trip. Blood excites Vampires, so we need to exercise a bit to calm the excitement down," Kiss-Shot remarked as she motioned at the glass. "You must have a hard time to sleep this morning."

Grabbing the glass, I offhandedly said, "Well, at least, your scent was calming enough to put me to sleep." Realizing that I sounded like a pervert, I looked up to meet Kiss-Shot's dumbfounded look. "Sorry. I didn't mean anything perverted."

"Okay…" she answered timidly, hiding her face behind her hair.

When dinner was finished, we immediately went building hopping. True to Kiss-Shot's words, I felt more energized than ever. I reacted and moved faster. I could control my strength better and also move more precisely. We went back home just a few minutes before midnight. We immediately went straight to the bed and hugged each other to sleep.

When we woke up in the morning, none of us said anything about how we had hugged each other to sleep. We had done night two nights before, so we had kind of got used to it. Just as I thought that we were going to the gym, Kiss-Shot surprised me by telling me we were going camping. I shot her an inquisitive look and she immediately explained herself.

"You told your family to go camping, didn't you? We need proof that you indeed went camping." At her words, I was reminded of the photos. "Besides, I can train you the way of the Vampire in the mountains."

We packed up our things and left for the mountains.
