“Someone took a video of Adam punching one of the would-be kidnappers.” Margarita slid a plate of bread to Jojo. “There’s a clip of it on Facebook. It was shown in a news segment on TV this morning. If it wasn’t for him and Erwin, you and Tiny would have been kidnapped.”

. “And this newspaper raising the gay issue, will hurt business.” Antonio continued. “You know we have contracts with Middle East and South Asian governments.”

“Adam’s gone,” Jojo said. He almost choked on the words. “He’s on his way back to the states because of this incident.”

“I’m sorry, son. But you and he cannot be seen together in public. So maybe this is a blessing in disguise,” Antonio said.

Jojo pushed his chair back and pursed his lips. He stared at the floor and started counting to keep his anger in check. He then spoke in a flat tone. “We were planning a life together.”

“Your mother and I have talked that maybe it’s time to find you a nice Filipina woman to date and settle down with.”
