Future Hopes

After leaving the underground tunnels (and receiving more damage to my pride when I had to dig out the rocks I collapsed before) we soon met the team of mages who were sent by the council to solve the matter.

"You there, apprentice, what are you doing here?!" They said while readying their spells.

"We fell down on one of the holes when the rats came out of the ground, luckily we could take care of this for you!" I told while guiding the golems core in ground with telekinesis, a spell of the same school as mage hand.

"And what would that be?" Said a sneering mage behind the apparent leader of the group.

"We called it Crystal Heart, it would invade corpses with crystals and control them... there are still some crystal golems back there, we found this golem core inside the heart after defeating it, so do we get any reward? It took alot of effort you know?" I said with a casual tone.

"You two stay here for now, we will send a team to verify the situation ahead, meanwhile tell us more of what happened here." He said while conjuring two seats and a table with arcane food before us.

----

Once they finnaly came back to confirm our history and we gave them a slightly modified report about our fights and motivations to press forward, they decided to bring us to the council to be rewarded for our effort.

As soon as we left the sewers we encountered Master Auron with a face that had aged a few more years, but as soon as he noticed us he soon look alot of energetic and blinked at our side asking if we were injured.

He was so insistent in knowing if we were fine that both me and Selia had to do exercises in the spot to prove it.

"See? No biggie, nice and easy, lemon squeezy. It will take much more to kill us than some stupid crystals, but now we need to awnser the summon teacher, so we will hurry ahead, see you later!" and I brought Selia along with me before the squads of mages decided to blink to us and throw us into council.

Soon we arrived at the biggest building in Dalaran, where the council resided their meetings, or atleast where their projections did.

We were brought to the Chamber of Air, where the misty images of six mages surrounded us, they took good sight of us, especially of Selia, they seemed to wonder a bit on how to proceed with our reward, atleast until a female voice started speaking.

"Selia and Theo, you both have our thanks for your contribution, as a reward we would like to offer a position as a pupil of a renowned Archmage of your choosing, we are sure they would take you in as students."

Theo felt like this wasn't as much as a reward as it was a bait trying to hook them in... he was good at reading people and he knew the crafty ways.

"I fear we cannot abandon our current master, he is good to us and we owe him for the diligence and wisdom in which he grooms us. We would not be able to achieve victory today if not for him!"

"Un"

This seemed to cause a small commotion among the members, and they started discussing with each other, but to our chagrin we could not listen due to the nature of this chamber.

"What reward do you seek then? You cannot leave empty handed, so tell us what you want." said the youthful but decisive voice, the voice held a tinge of aggressiveness.

Understanding that the most important part of his speech was the last part, I thought for a bit before replying.

"We wish to have some items for travel, first a Bottomless Bag, a enchanted robe for a professional mage that can grow along with our size, and money for our travels, as long as we can receive those items we would he very happy!" I said with a obviously fake smile.

"What about you apprentice Selia, do you wish for the same as your companion?" Said the young female voice with almost a audible sneer, expecting the little talented apprentice to be more ambitious.

"Un, I want the same..." Even if she could be quite bold at times she would still act a bit shy when it came to interactions with those she did not know.

After what looked like a fierce discussion between the misty shadows an aged voice said, "Very well young ones, they will be delivered later at your rooms, you may leave now."

----

As soon as we left the council, I tried getting in contact with Krasus, seeking to make our final preparations to leave for Capital City and seek Archbishop Faol, I had a growing feeling that if we stayed longer they would not be letting us leave Dalaran even with Krasus support, afterall he was only 1 of the 6 councillors of Dalaran.

Having sent a message and knowing that Krasus should be busy with his duties, we went back to our teacher's tower, only to find him expecting us with a big smile and a smug look that showed the pride he had of being our master.

"So how did it go? Did they reward you properly?"

Selia already confortable with Auron replied first: "Un teacher, it should arrive here soon..." and let her words fade while looking at me.

I noded and looked at our teacher with a serious face before starting.

"Teacher we will leave soon, we have things we must see to urgently... we are not sure when we can come back..."

Hearing this Auron didn't seem too surprised, neither too saddened by that, he just briefly asked.

"When are you leaving?"

"A week at most, likely less." I awnsered

"Come with me" he said while motioning for us to follow. He brought us to the last floor of his tower, one which we didn't visit in this month we learnt from him.

"You both are my last students, you cannot die in your journeys, my soul would not be able to rest if you did... I... had many students, talented and brave ones, just like I once was. But all of them without exceptions i had to bury with my hands, they didnt outlive me nor pass on my inheritance. I am old, i wont live long, so take my inheritance along with you..."

He soon summoned two crystals, one for Selia and one for me. When we took them into our hands he instructed us about we received.

Selia received studies into enchanting and a compendium of as many spells of the ice, fire and arcane schools he could fit into a single crystal.

I received Mind magic, the type which could deceive foes or increase the focus of my allies, along with being able to have its many uses in negotiation, subterfuge or similar situations. He also in the most recent studies into the shamanic arts that came directly from the internment camp's orcs, he clearly understood my interest by what I kept researching on.

I was kinda touched to be honest, even if we only knew each other for a month, I grew to respect him as a person, and now he was putting all his hopes of passing on his legacy to us... If I met him in my past life in would for sure befriend him... after all I did not have people like him around me in that life... damn, don't go on nostalgia trips, theres nothing good in my past anyways.
