Unbreakable love: Only one I love

Alex had one goal in life to make enough money so she could give her mother a comfortable life. But her efforts always seemed less fruitful even with her adoptive father and step-sister by her side. "Am not crying, just got something in my eye " Alex sniffed. "Am sorry, here is something that might help" the stranger said passing his handkerchief. "Thank you," she said taking it. After wiping the falling tears she turned to look at the stranger. His long brown hair was moving with the breeze around him as his dark orbs stared down at her. He bent down took his hankie and gently wiped the still falling tears from her eyes, "you missed a spot" he smiled. She smiled remembering that night, it was the day she had met him. Nathan Livingston. The man who claimed to only have eyes for her and soon had proved it.

Grudge

"I don't think he will return, it's already late," said Cynthia.

"Why do you care, I don't mind if he returns or not. It's better this way" Alex let out.

"Your mean, he took care of you but you don't care about him"

"I do care that's why I don't want him to return. I can't watch him all handsome and gentle moving around my small apartment like a maid" she explained.

"But if he wants to do it let him," her sister said.

Alex ignored her and went back to playing games on her phone.

"Are you staying over?" she asked.

"I have to, I can't leave you alone," said Cynthia.

"But you said you had plans with your boyfriend".

"Going to cancel them," she said.

"What, don't tell me it's because of me" Alex loomed up.

"Don't worry I can see him anytime".

Alex sighed, "Cynthia if you had a date with him then go, I will be okay now since am in bed, took a bath and have been fed"

Her sister gazed at her, "Are you sure?"

"Yes I am, so go see him" she pushed her off the bed.

"Okay am going but like what I said in the morning if you need me urgently call me"

"Okay I will, take care too" Cynthia hugged her sister and walked out.

....

Alex played games until she dozed off.

She felt someone touch her face waking her up. Her eyes flew open to see her father beside her.

"Dad," she said getting up

"Don't move too much or you will hurt yourself" he smiled.

"Am okay, when did you get here?" she asked.

"A while ago, I decided to drop by with your sister before we head to work," he said.

"Work, you mean I slept through the next day"

Cynthia walked in, "Yes you did I guess that medicine helps you sleep better," she said.

Holding two cups of coffee, she passed one to her father and then to Alex.

"Don't worry about work and rest at home until you can fully move, your colleagues will cover for you" her father said.

"Thank you, Dad, don't worry I will be better soon," she said.

"How is the ankle now, your sister said she got it checked by the doctor cause it was so swollen" he sipped on his coffee and frowned placing the cup aside.

Alex chuckled knowing why he had done it, Cynthia was never good at anything in the kitchen even her coffee tasted awful.

"The swelling has gone down and I feel less pain now," she said not tasting her coffee.

Cynthia glared at both of them, "you both mean" she yelled taking the cups away.

"We didn't even say anything," they both said.

"You didn't have to your actions spoke volumes," she yelled back.

They both laughed, "Am sorry about what happened at the dinner, she just never knows when to stop" he said.

Alex sighed knowing that her father had found out about the incident in the washroom.

"Am glad it wasn't that serious, please don't hold any grudge against her" he said

She smiled holding his hand, "I never do so don't worry and am fine the injury list serious"

He pulled her in for her hug, "Thank you dear daughter for being this kind to your poor father"

She giggled, "Dad stop it, you need to leave for work or the traffic will make you late"

He pulled away and kissed her forehead, "Rest and don't worry I told one of the maids from home to come to help you as you recover. So just stay in bed and don't move around unnecessarily" he instructed.

She nodded, "Thank you, Dad."

His smile widened, "I love you my daughter don't forget that"

"I love you too Dad. Now Leave before the traffic gets worse" she waved back at him.

Cynthia ran in and hugged her then followed her father.

"The maid will be here shortly and make you breakfast," she said.

"Okay, have a nice day" she yelled after them.

She laid back in bed and stretched.

"I guess Mr Livingston finally gave up" she yawned.

But she was wrong, he had no plans of giving up on her.
