The knight, still gravely injured and unconscious, lay slumped on the ground. Joseph gently lifted him and placed him on his bed, showing care even in his weakened state. He turned to the maiden, his expression calm and reassuring.
"You should find safety now," Joseph said softly. "I’ll stay here and watch over the injured knight until all this madness is over."
"But what about you?" she asked, her voice trembling with concern.
"I’ll be fine," Joseph replied, smiling warmly at her. "Just stay safe. We’ll get through this."
The maiden nodded, though her mind was still racing with questions. She hesitated as she left, her heart filled with both awe and confusion at how Joseph had defied death.
