LAURENE'S POV
The loud gunshots rang in our ears as we drove away from the hotel in the Hamptons. My heart pounded with each passing second, an unsettling fear creeping over me. Sherlene sat beside me, visibly shaking, while Maurice held Salome close, trying to comfort her. But my mind was elsewhere gripped by a terrible sense of dread. Something had happened. I could feel it. Gregory. The thought of him in danger consumed me, and I closed my eyes, silently praying that he was safe.
But deep down, I could not shake the feeling that Odon, that madman, had finally acted on his threats.
