Lightning Struck Twice
Despite being determined, Ren Jidian was not insusceptible to the shock his body and mind would experience once he fell for thousands of meters underground. The gravity was so strong that the pressure made it feel like he would lose his skin in the process.
He closed his eyes, and prayed for another intervention to test his theory. He knew it was quite the literal leap of faith, as if he was not successful, he might either meet his end as he fell splat onto the ground or straight into one of the rivers of the Underworld. Maybe the ferryman Charon would be waiting for him.
But Ren Jidian did not fall to any surface, he realized. Instead....
He fell on something soft. And big. Very big. Very fluffy.
It had the texture of matted fur, but was still very soft and comfy. It was as dark as the mouth of the void he jumped on, so he couldn't really see it. But as he heard the sounds of panting breaths, growls, and even the hissing of snakes.....
