Chapter Twenty Four

"Fake? How is that possible?" Atticus asked, adjusting himself with a curious look on his face.

"There is nothing the Kieran family can't do. They are as dangerous as they are kind," Sabrina explained. "Bribed, the school was able to provide a fake certificate for her."

It took Atticus a few minutes to believe her. "Knowing this, why did you keep quiet? She poisoned you and ruined your reputation."

Sabrina smiled faintly at his question before answering, "Even though that family hurt me, I have no right to hurt them. They took me in when I had nowhere else to turn. They gave me a family, a name, a roof over my head, and food. Not just for a day, but for fifteen years."

"Still—"

"I will repay the pain they inflicted on me, but only after I repay the good deed they did for me," her words cut Atticus off.

"But you wanted revenge. You married me because you wanted revenge," Atticus mumbled.
