Painful Memories

Slowly opening her eyes, the first thing Mina saw in her line of sight was the white light bulbs of the ceiling. Oddly, she immediately felt an intense feeling of tiredness hit her

Her eyes had just opened when she heard a familiar voice resound beside her, "Mina! You're finally awake, are you okay?"

Turning her head with a bit of effort, Mina saw that it was her uncle Huxley who was looking worriedly at her pale face, "You girl, sigh… didn't I tell you not to overwork yourself? How much tired were you to end up in this kind of condition…"

"Uncle…" Seeing her uncle, she was just about to start crying when she spotted her uncle's wife looking at her with poison apparent inside her eyes. She realized Morana was also standing a bit far away as she stared at her with a cold glint reflecting in her eyes. This instantly froze Mina in her spot as a chain of painful memories promptly began to pour into her head.

'Hmm, now, let's go see what happened to Kay earlier today.' As I, the goddess, thought this, time started to recede backward.

THE SAME DAY, A FEW HOURS EARLIER

Currently, Kay was coming back from work driving his black SUV. At the moment, he was behind the red light, waiting for it to turn green so he would be able to pass the crossroad and drive toward his family house.

Actually, his family had an enormous mansion right outside the city in a rather expensive neighborhood, so he had to drive in and out of the city every day. So, like that, some of these streets he drove from tended to be especially quiet at this time of the night.

And right now, he was exactly passing from such a road. The crossroad he was about to pass was totally empty of any sort of vehicle. It was a place where not a single living soul could be spotted.

'Ah, it's finally green.' Seeing the lights finally green, as he pushed the gas pedal, the car slowly began to move.

Vroom~

However, just as he reached the middle of the crossroad, out of nowhere, he spotted a truck which was veering toward the direction of his SUV without any intentions of changing his path at all! The truck could clearly change his path, but it didn't!

'What-' This was the last notion that went through his head before…

Bam! Bang! Targh~

Just like that, the truck smashed into the SUV and wrecked it up! However, the frightening thing was that its driver appeared to have no intentions of wanting to stop his truck and instead seemed like he was pushing the gas pedal even more!

Shhhh~

The SUV continued to be dragged for a lot of distance when finally, after what it seemed like forever, the other driver stopped his truck.

By now, blood was dripping from all over Kay's body as he weakly opened his eyes and stared at the truck which was standing still in the distance without moving. It seemed as if the driver was still there because he wanted to make sure that Kay had truly died.

Alas, when he opened his eyes and glanced at the truck, the truck driver clearly noticed his head move, and so, he discovered he was still alive. This was bad news for him.

So, without any hesitations whatsoever, the truck began to charge toward his ruined SUV once again as soon…

Boom~

There was another terrifying noise of crashing as the truck ruined the SUV even further.

By now, Kay's injuries had gotten much worse than before! Blood was literally pouring down from all over his body.

'What… what's going on? Wh… why would he-' These broken lines appeared inside Kay's mind as he felt a deep sense of confusion and danger.

He still had a bit of consciousness remaining, however, although he was truly feeling lost and confused with the current situation, he understood one thing very clearly… and that was… the truck driver was trying to murder him!

And that realization alone was enough for Kay to know that he shouldn't make the least movement until the truck left! He had to pretend to be dead!

So, not moving in the least, Kay stayed still for around a few minutes until the truck driver ultimately drove away.

Actually, seeing him still alive after getting hit by that intensity and still being alive had truly made the truck driver shocked!

And the second time he crashed into Kay's car, he was confident that anyone would die from that kind of accident, so after making sure he didn't move anymore, he left.

Thud!

The moment he left though, the door of the SUV was hardly pushed open as a gravely injured Kay weakly walked out of the wrecked car.

Then, with the least amount of wit remaining in him, Kay began to move in a random direction as his blood kept dripping from his whole body. Even though he was on the verge of passing out, oddly, a great light of determination was burning through his eyes. This was his unwavering will to live, no matter what!
