TTW Chapter 64: Cochlea (8)

Kaneki Ken had recovered from his serious injuries and his vision was gradually getting clearer, but tears were streaming down his face uncontrollably.

"I don't want to eat anymore," he said.

"It's really sad, but you have to remember what I told you. You're breaking the rules," Lin Yi reminded him with a smile.

Just as Lin Yi was about to attack with his weapon, they heard a loud rumbling sound from above. The steel door on the lower level opened slightly, and two large claws appeared, prying it open.

This was the true monster. It could hold an adult in its hand with just two claws.

Its appearance was no longer human-like.

The person who appeared was the one-eyed king of Aogiri Tree, Eto Yoshimura.

Lin Yi squinted his eyes. He didn't expect Eto to show up.

"Boom!"

Indeed, a king had arrived.

Eto Yoshimura descended from the sky and attacked Lin Yi. He raised his sword to defend himself, but the force of the attack sent him flying several meters away before he could regain his balance.

She looked at Lin Yi with anger in her crimson monster eyes.

It seemed to be because of Tatara.

However, Eto Yoshimura only glanced once before grabbing the unconscious Kaneki from the ground and swiftly leaving.

As an Ukaku ghoul, she had the ability to fly.

Lin Yi didn't chase after her, as he couldn't catch up.

Soon, he heard another loud noise and saw Eto Yoshimura again, this time holding the heavily injured Ayato Kirishima.

Then she flew away from the underground.

"Lin Yi!"

Just as Lin Yi turned away, he saw Yukinori slowly approaching with Amon's support.

Shinohara Yukinari seemed to be injured, and his protective gear was torn. He was limping as he walked.

"What happened? Are you badly hurt?" Lin Yi asked.

Yukinori waved his hand dismissively, his gaze serious.

"We were almost done with the battle, but I didn't expect the leader to show up. However, 'he' seems even stronger than a few months ago. Even my weapon couldn't withstand 'his' attack."

Lin Yi scratched his nose. She must be really powerful. A few months ago, the "Owl" was the Anteiku Shopkeeper, and now this person was the real deal.

Just when he thought that the battle between CCG and Aogiri Tree would end with heavy injuries on both sides, Lin Yi heard commotion and screams coming from underground.

Lin Yi raised an eyebrow. She shouldn't still be there. Why is there still fighting?

Before he could think further, Yukinori spoke.

"Lin Yi, don't worry about me. I can't move well. Go and see what's happening."

"Okay."

No need for him to say it, Lin Yi would go.

Lin Yi's eyes showed determination. If there was one difference between now and the original story, it was that he had killed Tatara. He knew that Eto Yoshimura saw Tatara and others as family.

He chose a shortcut, climbing and leaping along the broken bridge using the steel bars. Within a few moments, he climbed up tens of meters, leaped over the steel door, and reached the ground floor.

As soon as he arrived, he witnessed a scene like a nightmare.

Most of the members of Aogiri Tree had retreated, leaving only Eto Yoshimura behind. Just as he had expected, she was seeking revenge.

The bodies of several investigators lay on the ground, trampled under her feet.

Akira was terrified, sitting on the ground while Eto Yoshimura towered above her. With just her head, Eto Yoshimura was larger than Akira's entire body.

Akira and her father had considered the "Owl" their mortal enemy, but faced with such overwhelming helplessness and fear, they couldn't help but tremble.

This was a monster that humans couldn't defeat.

Eto Yoshimura's intention was the same as Lin Yi's. She wanted to destroy what mattered to him. Her enormous claw was aimed directly at Akira.

"Boom!"

Lin Yi breathed a sigh of relief. He had arrived just in time.

In the nick of time, he pulled Akira behind him and raised his weapon to block the attack.

The force shattered the floor beneath Lin Yi's feet, creating a web-like pattern, but he stood his ground.

At the same time, gas was released from the surrounding buildings. It was a special gas developed by the CCG to suppress ghouls. It meant that reinforcements from the main headquarters had arrived.

"Boom!"

Eto Yoshimura attacked again, forcing Lin Yi to step back.

Lin Yi held onto Akira and moved to a safer position.

Eto Yoshimura jumped away.

The reinforcements from the main headquarters were like the police who never arrived on time in movies. But now they were finally here, starting to surround and capture the fleeing ghouls…
