Chapter Three: Wait What?!

Valerie just had to blink once and it was Monday. She was very happy that the interviewer gave her till Monday to resume.

She had used the remaining days to go on a little shopping, bought herself a new pair of heels and some clothes.

May really helped too as she gave her some money to buy most things. She was really grateful to that girl of hers.

She held her chin up high as she entered the company with all smiles. The receptionist at the waiting room greeted her with a smile on her face and mouthed a little 'congratulations' to which Valerie replied 'Thank you'.

She went closer "Sorry, excuse me. My name's Valerie"

The receptionist's smile grew wider "Of course!

They told me about you last week. Welcome! My name's Arya and I believe you must be looking for your department. Well, when you get to the elevator, press the button for the second floor, then go to the Administrative office, they'll help you up there" she informed Valerie and Valerie gave her a bright smile.

"Thank you so much Arya"

She got into the elevator and heaved a deep sigh before pressing the button for the second floor. The office was made up of four floors.

The ground floor, which was the waiting room.

The second floor, which was the office room for workers.

The third floor, which was a floor that had a room meant for conference meetings and work demonstrations.

Then the last floor, which was the boss's office. Nobody was permitted to be there. It was out of bounds to everyone except the boss.

The elevator door gave a 'ting' sound before it's metal doors opened and Valerie was greeted with the scene of a white and blue coloured environment filled with people working smartly in their various cubicles.

She bit her lower lip as she slowly walked out in a daze. She was looking for the Administrative office. As she walked round in confusion, she bumped into someone

"Oh! I'm so sorry" she instantly apologised and the person adjusted her glasses. It was a short, petite girl with brown hair and fringes. She stared at Valerie

"Are you miss Henders?" She asked and Valerie nodded her head "Yes"

Turned out, the girl was the administrative officer. She gave Valerie a little tour of the office and showed her to where she would be working.

It was a nice, little cubicle that had a bronze plaque with the words "PR Officer" neatly written on it. The girl left Valerie after a few minutes to give her some space to adjust to her surroundings.

And Valerie adjusted quite quickly. Within few minutes of her resuming work, she had already made a few friends and even had their numbers.

During lunch hour, the office had a cafeteria at the back of the ground floor. Valerie had orange juice and potato fries with her new buddies. The rest all took coffee but Valerie wasn't really a fan of that, unless it was an emergency.

After work hours, she picked her bag, bade goodbye to her co-workers and left.

When she got to the elevator, she pressed the button and saw that it was currently occupied and coming from the top floor.

Only two people could go there. The boss and his assistant. She held her breath in anticipation as she waited for the doors to open.

They finally opened with a 'ding' and Valerie's eyes widened when she saw him. The guy who interviewed her was none other than the boss. He was standing at one side of the elevator and looked at her with an amused expression

"Miss Henders, we meet again"

Valerie gulped and silently entered the elevator, pressing the button for the ground floor. She could see the stares of her co-workers as they craned their necks to see her and the boss in the same elevator and she sighed.

The metal doors closed and the elevator slowly rode down to the first floor. Valerie had already decided within her not to initiate a conversation.

But the man wasn't letting her be "So miss Henders, how was your first day of work?" He asked with a smile and she replied "Fine sir"

Silence again.

"Made any new friends?"

"A few"

"Hmmmm"

Valerie kept her eyes on the doors and kept a long distance between them. She felt uneasy near this man.

He kept carrying that stupid smirk on his face that read 'I'm a god! And I know it'. His black eyes seemed to bore into her as he stared at her all through the ride and made her feel uncomfortable

"Uhmm sir, could you kindly stop staring? It's making me uncomfortable" she said and drew her bag closer to her neck

She expected him as a real gentleman to at least apologize and remove his gaze but he didn't.

Instead, this shameless man asked a really ridiculous question

"Had any crush yet?"

'Wait what??!'...
