Chapter 255: The Effects Of The News

[Duke's Mansion]

A day has passed since the birthday celebration of Sephiria herself had ended, everything in of itself ended quite in a good but surprising way that no one expected to happen aside from the people who already knew of Shun's relationship with Sephiria. Everything really came in a surprise, it was so shocking that when the reveal of the engagement was announced to everyone, the whole room itself literally turned silent.

Of course various comments in regards to the announcement can be heard and passed here and there. There were some comments on how they can congratulate the engagement, some who were envious of a commoner marrying into the Duke's family, while some critizises the Duke's decision in marrying her daughter to a commoner. Nevertheless no matter how silent there reaction was, one could t help but hear all this comments wherever Shun's go.

Aside from his known achievement of being the champion of the six academies competition, the masses are totally ignorant of Shun's achievement in the foreign land, which caused some to somewhat look down on Shun and begin regard him as some sort of a parasite. But all those critism were neglible as some realized that the Duke's current wife wasa also a former commoner.

With that they must have thought that marrying a nobles children to a commoner was a stereotype for the Duke's family. However some people who held a grudge against Duke Alan begun to build up their scheme in order to use this piece of information to ruin his reputation. But that problem was left for Duke Alan to handle since it involves a backdoor hand of the dirty world of politics.

While Duke Alan is handling all of those, Shun on the other hand is sitting by the Duke's garden while having a tea time with Sephiria herself. This day and time is supposed to be the time where Shun and Sephiria would strengthen  their bond by spending time with each other. This should have been a romantic atmosphere between them, however all thos flowery atmosphere is ruined with Lorius, Mario, Cynthia, and Rekka, being present in this tea party of Sephiria, basically Lorius and his whole group of friends.

Their presence literally destroys the sweet atmosphere, causing Shun to somewhat grimace before them. Incomparison to this group of easy going friends, Iris, Akito, The royal family, and Viscount Zack, all returned to their respective homes after the birthday party had ended. As for Lorius they simply took the offer of staying here for a day or two before going on their way to another place to spend their break.

"What are you guys doing here again?" Asked by Shun

"Us? Well we're simply here because, we simply want to rest for a few days before going on our way, after all the Duke's territory is way too far from the area I'm living on" answered by Lorius

"But don't you know teleportation magic? I clearly remembered that you said that you can use such magic" inserted by Shun

"Did I ever say that? I can't remember anything about me saying I can use that kind of magic you know" replied by Lorius

"Don't lie to me Lorius, I clearly remembered you saying that, are you telling me that I'm a liar?" Asked by Shun

"Whoa there! I never said that you were a liar though, I'm just stating that I can't use such magic... you must have misheard it" said by Lorius

"Yes I did hear it perfectly"

"Why are you so stubborn Shun? Why don't you believe me?"

"Maybe because you don't look honest at all?"

"Thats hurts you know... I'm a honest man.... if you don't believe you can ask the others whether I can use teleportation magic or not"

"Fine!"

After that Shun turned towards Lorius other friends and asked.

"Guys! I'm pretty sure you heard him say that he can use teleportation magic right?"

However instead of agreeing to what Shun says, Rekka, Mario and Cynthia, simply sided with Lorius as they defended his answer.

"I don't remember him saying such a thing"

"Are you sure that you didn't misheard him?"

"You must have gotten it wrong"

When Shun heard all those answers, he then noticed Lorius chuckling on the side as if laughing at his attempt to turn his friends against him. Upon seeing that, Shun couldn't help but sigh in annoyance as he leaned on his chair while feeling stressed out from Lorius and his group.

"You guys! Your literally playing with me aren't you! You think this is funny?"

As Shun said those words, Sephiria patted his shoulder on the side as she said.

"Calm down Shun! Just let them be, we cant firce them to leave if they dont want to leave, just accept as it is"

"Yeah! Just chill and accept it" added by Lorius after noticing that Sephiria was calming down Shun

When Shun heard the both of them, he then let it be as he stayed silent while enjoying his tea. After all it was such a beautiful day and such beautiful day must not be disrupted just because of his tantrum. He wanted to enjoy his break so break he shall receive. Plus Lorius and his friends were just going to stay on the Duke's territory for a few days, so leaving them at that would t harm them in any way possible.

Just like that a day has passed with nothing eventful happening in their way.

Three days later Lorius and his friends finally left as the mansion itself soon regained its usual tranquility, as the people who often creates noise in the establishment had already left elsewhere. With them leaving Shun spent the rest of the day with Sephiria as they deepen their bond by going t the town in every other day.

As for Duke Alan, he was somewhat stressed in dealing with the schemes for this past few days that he literally needed some sleep by how he looks. But since he expected some resistance from people of the pro noble faction, he could not back down now that his daughter's happiness was at stake.

For this faction they simply wanted the nobles to have a pure bloodline throughout the generation and never let a commoner take the stage, this is simply a group of people who lasted commoner and never liked the change in status quo. So with their full force, they begun to harass Duke Alan to the point that he have a couple of sleepless nights, nevertheless with magic he was still somewhat able bodied and never showing any signs of fatigue by how fast he works.
