Daylight Robbery

Ling Chen had been conversing with Xiao Yue all the time. It was her suggestion what to do with the Zhao family and she had laid out her plan for him.

"Try and extort a large number of spirit stones and money. Later I'll take you to my hidden stashes and get more, but your cultivation is very weak for that. So it's better to lay low for a few years and make only show your 'Prodigal Son' character till you become 15."

This was why he agreed to Ling Kun's request despite sensing the malicious intent. He also sensed that there was a larger conspiracy afoot so he wanted to get far away from it as he could.

Back to the present he was holding his hands over this face, seemingly thinking about what to ask for. But in reality he was trying hard to contain his smile because of the promise made earlier.

"Ahem, I've thought about it and know what to ask" he said, ignoring the worried face of his mother. He continued "I want one of the biggest couryards for myself and my mother. Then two spirit artifacts feom treasury, 1000 spirit stones and 5 million taels. Oh and exemption from clan duties as well as monthly allowance of 100,000 taels."

The way he said it was as if he wanted a small request but everyone had their mouth wide open, especially Ling Xue. This was an outrageous robbery no matter which way you looked at it!

"Impossible!" Ling Kun blurted out immediately since he wanted that courtyard for his own daughter anf usually scared away everyone who wanted it.

"What use is saying it's impossible? The patriarch clearly said that he would grant his wish no matter what to Ling Chen. You want the patriarch to break the promise to a little kid?" Ling Xue hurriedly retorted, secretly pleased with her son's demand.

Ling Xiao was put in an awkward position after hearing that. He too wanted to cut out some part of the reward but hearing his daughter's words, he solemnly said "It's decided then. Ling Chen can go to the financial department and get these things within the week."

"Patriarch!" Ling Kun yelled in his frustration, unable to digest this outcome. He had shot himself in the foot with his plan. Ignoring him, with a wave of his hand, Ling Xiao dismissed evryone.

Ling Xue hurried to her son before grabbing him and going straight to the financial department. She wanted to do everything before others started to make problems.

"Darling Son, you really pulled a good one there, mother is happy for you. But to lose the status of the First Young Master is still huge." Ling Xue started advising her son.

"Hehe it's not that I don't know about it, it's just a tactic. Do you really think Zhao family simply trying to come up with such a plan? And even if they did why did that guy pretend to love you for all these years? There was obviously someone helping him!" Ling Chen said with a glint in his eyes.
