"It's worked, I have finally transmigrated"!!!
I stood in front of the ceiling-to-floor mirror in the room laughing like a maniac.
The reflection in the mirror is that of a girl, about three years or so. The girl had soft curly short hair and was dark-skinned.
I run around the plush room that was designed for children, giggling like a fool.
I jumped on the bed which was so soft and comfy unlike the bed I slept on in my past.....no,
I mean the world I was coming from.
That's it!!! I sat up on the bed.
I am no longer in Nigeria!!!!
From the reflection I saw in the mirror, I am probably a black American, right?
Yes, I am free at last, from that....that... Country.
I looked around the room and how it was arranged.
I am probably in America or Canada right?!!
That was the countries I choose when I was saying the magic words given by the wizard.
I sat on the bed, smiling happily like a goat... We, ll my Nigeria brothers will say... Like a Christmas goat.
I came down from the bed and sat with my legs folded in front of the mirror.
It's time to recall the memories of the owner of this body. I am a fan of fantasy and transmigration novels, especiallTransmigrationon.
That is why I didn't hesitate to buy the magic book from that wizard who I met online with all my lifetime savings.
I sat on the floor with my hands together, ready for the memories to come rushing in.
Tick..tock Tick tock
Seconds became minutes and minutes were almost turning into hours, yet there were no memories of any past life.
I was already having leg cramps but I kept on persevering.
But nothing came!!!!
My little head was already on the floor. Well, I give up.
I am going to take a nap!
Click
Someone walked into the room; in my sleepy state, I felt the person carry me off the floor and gently placed me on the bed.
~~~~~~~~~~
I slowly opened my eyes, the moon seeped into the room from the window. Blaring horns could be heard outside.
I yawned loudly as I rubbed my eyes. I came down from the bed, scratching my itchy butt. The door was slightly opened making it easier for me to slip out of my room.
The staircase was just ten steps away...well for an adult.
But for a child with chubby legs like me, it looks like I am going on an adventure to the desert.
Well, as they say, I put my hands on my hips as I look up at the bulb lighting the corridor; A journey of thousands of miles begins with a step. With this motivation in mind, I took my first step into the Sahara desert.
So step by step I walked towards the staircase.
I took the first step happily forgetting I am now a baby. Then...
Gbas.....gbos...boom
I came rolling down from the high staircase. I landed heavily on the floor, I pouted my lips, tears brimming in my eyes.
I lifted my head to see four young women looking at me in shock.
"Don't scream" a woman wearing a baggy white top with blue short jeans said to the other women. "She will cry if you scream."
The other women kept mute, they all looked at me with their eyes wide open.
What the f*CK!!!? Won't you help me up?!!
And what's this belief about not screaming when a child fell? It's only done in Nigeria okay?!
The women in the room were all dark-skinned; well, a black American should have black Americans as friends.
The woman wearing a baggy top quickly carried me up.
"Are you hurt, baby?" She quickly dusts my body, turning me around to check for injuries.
"I think she is fine Alice" One of the women came closer to me and took me from the other lady.
"Thank goodness she doesn't have injuries" Alice places her hand on her chest. "Her father will nag me to death."
I squinted my eyes as I seized the woman up. Looks like Alice is my mother.
"Back to the discussion," a lady who sat on the single sofa said turning to the other woman. "What should we wear to Cindy's birthday party this weekend?"
The other ladies giggle happily at the mention of the party.
"I think we should wear the purple gown we wore at June's birthday party last ye,r," Alice said.
Wow, my eyes shone happily, I even have a nice name.
"Oh, I think that's a good idea." The lady who was carrying me nodded in approval.
I was busy munching on some delicious biscuits. It tasted like one of the biscuits I usually eat during my leisure time back in Nigeria.
"We should go to Idumota* tomorrow to get some matching bags and shoes."
I suddenly stopped mulching the biscuits. Idumota?.... as in, the Idumota in Nigeria?
I looked at the ladies and shrugged my shoulders. Maybe there is a place called Idumota in America here.
"Madam" a girl wearing a gown made from Ankara came in and bowed to Alice. "The food Is ready"
"Thanks, kafaya."
The ladies stood up and head to the dining area.
My mouth watered at the thought of the Americana food that will be served.
Alice place me on the baby chair in the dining and served me my food.
I smacked my lips, happily anticipating the meal that would be served.
Is it chicken and chips, or chicken nugget, or probably steak...
"Kafaya!" Alice called out to the maid. " Please bring June's spoon and napkin."
"What a glutton" One of the ladies pinched my chubby cheek. "She loves food."
"Look at how fat she is."
I rolled my eyes at the ladies; which girl would love to be called fat.
I am not fat I am just chubby okay?
A very familiar and peculiar aroma permeates the room. Is that.....
Jollof rice???
The ladies served themselves, chatting happily as they eat.
My face fell as I looked at the food on my table. Don't tell me I am in Nigeria.
"Huh" I laughed, but my laughter was that of confusion.
Then I came to a sudden realization..!!
Someone said Kafaya now, or was my ears deceiving me?!!
Is Kafaya an English name? I looked around confused, then I looked up and saw the bulb.
This is an electric light, right? Nigeria NEPA will never leave the electric light for so long.
My mind was calmed at this thought. I happily ate my food.
"How much did you buy this solar." One of the ladies asked Alice.
"Oh, the solar" Alice replied with a mouthful of food. " My husband brought it from his friend, you know how Nigeria's NEPA usually behaves so we have to buy the solar. I will forward you the price later."
I choked on my food and was thrown into a coughing fit.
"Take it easy June." Alice gently pats my back and feeds me water.
Ni...Ni....geria?
Don't tell me I got transmigrated in Nigeria. What the f*CK?!!!
Does transmigration happen in Nigeria?!!!
I suddenly lost my appetite, this is unfair. The web novel I always read is always about the female or male lead transmigrating to another country or continent.
That idiot old smelly wizard!! He scammed me!!
He lied to me, he should better pray that we won't meet if not...
I place my hands on my head; I felt a pang of pain in my heart. Only three words came out of my mouth.
"What the f*CK"!!!
"Alice, what's wrong with June?" One of the ladies asked my mom.
Alice looked at me, she stood up from her chair placing her palm on my forehead.
"On a normal day, June is talkative but she hasn't said a word after she fell."
Alice began to panic, she carried me from my chair hugging me.
"Where did you get hurt?" Alice asked me.
I looked at her blankly; Now the question is... How does a three years old talk, what type of language do they use?
Should I babble?
I rubbed my temples feeling frustrated, being a child is not easy. And besides I was not comfortable seeing my new mom panicked because of me!!!
"Oh my God" Alice cried out. " Kafaya!! Bring my phone"!!
"Alice, take it easy she will be fine."
Alice took her phone and dial a number, she was shaking.
"Hello, sweetheart I don't know what's wrong with June, she has not uttered a word since morning," Alice said all that she had to say in one breath sobbing.
I don't know what the person on the other end, well probably my father, said, Alice dropped her phone and said to the other ladies.
"Guys am sorry, we have to meet some other time, I have to take June to the hospital."
Hospital!!!
I hate going to the hospital. The smell is irritating and above all, I had to take injections
Please how do kids protest, someone should please help me!!!
Alice took the car key and ran out of the house carrying me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We drove to the hospital; I closed my eyes tightly and prayed.
I am being deceived, maybe we are in South Africa or Ghana.
I am not in Nigeria.
I slowly opened my eyes and looked out of the window.
My face fell immediately, this is Nigeria. The street, the portholes, the familiar traffic, the hawkers advertising their goods in the traffic.
I covered my mouth in shock; so it's true I transmigrated to Nigeria.
I transmigrated from Nigeria back... To Nigeria?
Who does that?!!!
I rested my head on the baby chair closing my eyes.
"Honey I don't know what's wrong with her, she is not saying anything."
Alice sobbing woke me from my slumber. We had gotten to the hospital.
"Alice" a man came running towards us. "What happened to her."
"Micheal, I'm sorry," Alice said crying.
I seized up the newcomer, he was tall and muscular. He wore a white shirt and black pants.
Looks like he is my father.
"Come here princess" Micheal carried me. " Tell Daddy, where did you get hurt?"
What should I say, should I say "Oh Daddy, I came rolling down the stairs and landed with my butt up then I realized that an old wizard scammed me"!!!
Hell no...
What child talks like that?
"See, she is not talking." Alice cried. " What have I done?"
I pursed my lips, what should I say to make her happy?
Should I say Mama?
"Ma..."
"Mrs Johnson" the nurse interrupted me as I was about to say Mama. "Please come in."
The word got stuck in my throat.
We walked into the doctor's office. The doctor was an elderly man in his sixties.
After about some minutes of checking, testing, and asking questions; the doctor removed his stethoscope and looked at my parent.
"It's nothing serious, she was probably shocked by the fall."
Alice places her hand on her chest signing in relief.
"I will have to give her an injection which will boost her appetite and make her sleep."
I looked at the doctor blankly; do I have to take the injection? I pouted my lips, tears brimming in my eyes.
I hate injections!!
Alice helped in removing my pants, I looked at my new dad trying to cry for help.
But how the hell do children cry for help?!
Pfft
A sound echoes in the quiet office, I looked around only to see my parent and the doctor staring at me in surprise.
Did I just fart?
