Alone time with Sanae

I take the practice book Patchouli gave me once again. This time I use the Translation spell Marisa gave me. It worked and I can finally read the book without knowing Latin. I go to the section called 'Control Magic' and read some of the simple spells. I filter out the most interesting one for me.

'Numquammovere' is the spell that looks the most interesting from all that I skimmed through. It is a spell that stuns people. It drains your mana the longer you stun them. I practice the spell alone as best as I can.

Later, a familiar face entering the room. "I finally finished all the work, so I have time for you." Sanae smiles. "Sanae, I've heard you are from the outside world too! When did you came to Gensokyo?" I ask. "Oh well, I am not sure. It's been so long. I am still sometimes not quite used to Gensokyo rules." Sanae tells me.

"I can remember the last big video game console that came out before I had to leave was the Nintendo Wii!" Sanae seems to have a nostalgic moment when telling me that. She wasn't in the outside world for an extremely long time as the Nintendo Wii came out in 2006. "That was a long time ago, my god." I say a little surprised as Sanae looks to be in her early 20s. "Were you a kid when it came out?" I am curious. "No, I was around 19 I think." She tells me. "Oh, I see you are confused about my age, don't worry I am a goddess we age differently from normal humans." Sanae says.

"Tell me about the industry. I loved gaming. How is it nowadays?" Sanae looks at me with her eyes wide open. I take a second to think as it is quite a broad question to ask "Well, the newest consoles that came out are the PlayStation 5 and the XBOX Series X." I hope that my answer was good enough. "PlayStation 5? Oh, my it's probably extremely advanced and has great games!" Sanae assumes. I grin as she's off with her assumption. "It is quite advanced, but the PS5 got no games." Sanae is a bit confused because she expected a big company like the one behind PlayStation to have a library of exclusive games.

"What about your mage training how is that going?" She changes the topic. "Pretty well, I am currently learning a new spell." I tell her. "Oh really? Do you want to test it on me?" She asks. "Sure, I'd love to test it out."

After I said that Sanae and me get up. She stands up straight and gives me a thumbs up, indicating that she's ready. I reach out my hand and concentrate. In my head I say the word 'Numquammovere' loud and clear. But nothing happens. I try again but the same result happens. "Is everything alright?" She asks in a concerned tone. "Yes, I guess I have not practiced enough yet." I am embarrassed by my performance.

"How about you test out a spell you already now?" Sanae asks. I nod and get ready again. She gives me her thumbs up and I do the 'No Statera' spell this time. She falls to the ground. "Good job! You will be a promising mage in no time!" She gets up on her feet again.

I take a glimpse outside the window and see that the sun is slowly setting. "Time flies when you are having fun. How about we go to the human village tomorrow?" She asks and looks at me hoping for a yes. "Human village? Would that not be a problem to go to as a goddess?" I ask. "No, the residents are quite nice most of the time. So, would you?" She awaits my answer. "Sure, as long as you show me all the exciting things there." I tell her and she seems to be really happy about it. "Great! I will do a few more things and when I'll come to bed." She smiles happily. "I'll probably be sleeping so good night." I speak. "Oh, alright good night!" She leaves the room.

I lie on the bed. I think about that night again. I really like Sane as a friend, and I don't want to make her sad. She's a beautiful woman but I don't have any feelings for her. I feel a little unwell thinking about it so I just close my eyes until I am finally asleep.
