CHAPTER THREE

When they arrived at the hospital, the young man was rushed to the intensive care unit, While Kim sat at the hallway to wait, she looked visibly worried about the man.

To her, it was as if she had seen him before, she felt she knew him from somewhere, she saw him as someone who deserved to live.

She looked at the closed doors of the operating room, believing that the man would survive the surgery.

Few minutes later. A tall, slim, Chinese Nigerian doctor came out of the emergency room and walked pass her, she got up, approached the doctor and said.

" Doctor how is he? "

She asked curiously.

The man adjusted his medicated glasses and said.

" He lost a lot of blood and fractured his neck bone, the accident must have been a severe one, because it left him with slits, bruises, and a major brain damage. We are giving him proper care for his head injury and neck sprain but after he rests for a while, we will have to perform surgery on him so he won't have paralysis or Amnesia. "

The doctor paused, sighed and said.

" This will be a risky procedure, he may lose part of his memory or be paralyzed but he will surely survive."

Kim gasped in shock. Her eyes widened in fear and her jaw dropped in Surprise.

Seeing the look on her face, the doctor said in a consoling tone.

" He will be fine, I assure you."

Kim nodded.

The doctor gave her a reassuring smile before walking away.

Kim sat on a bench, and looked at her watch, it was getting late and she knew she had to go home now and leave this man behind, after all she has done her best by bringing him to the hospital. It's now his family's turn to bear and handle the burden of his surgery and recovery.

Her mother and sister must be waiting for her to come home and she didn't want them to worry. She decided to call her Mum and tell her that she would come home late and they shouldn't worry about her.

As she dipped her hand into her pocket in an attempt to bring out her phone. She touched the man's brown wallet, she had forgotten she kept it there.

Kim brought it out and looked at it, she opened it and observed it, she saw the man's identify card and his passport. She also saw some money in the corners of the wallet.

She ignored the cash and looked at his passport, in the picture. The man was dressed in a navy uniform.

" Was he a soldier? "

She wondered.

She carefully examined his ID card. She adjusts her glasses and reads the details contained in it.

Ken Zee, Thirty years old, born on August first, real estate agent, ... "

Suddenly she heard hurried footsteps, so she looked up to see a familiar figure walking towards her in a haste.

An advanced woman, dressed in a nurse uniform approached Kim, who raised a brow, slightly confused.

" Aunt Bola? " Kim says in Surprise, not expecting to see her Aunt.

" Kim are you okay? What happened? " Bola asked in a concerned tone, she taught something bad had happened to her niece.

" I'm fine, I'm alright. "

Kim assured her.

" Oh, thank God. " Bola says with a sigh of relief as she hugged Kim

" Why do you seem tensed what's the matter? "

" I thought something had happened to you. "

Kim smiled and said.

" Everything's okay. "

" So why are you here? "

" On my way home, I saw an injured man in a damaged car, so I called an ambulance immediately, they rushed him to the hospital, and I decided to follow them and make sure he's okay. "

A warm smile grew on Bola's face as she looks at Kim in admiration.

" You just saved a life. I'm so proud of you. "

She says happily.

Her tone changes to a strict one as she says with warning.

" But you must be careful, what you say or do. Cause soon, the police and detectives will be here any moment from now and they will call the relatives of the man you saved. Moreover, they will want to interrogate you, so you are to answer wisely. "

Kim gives her a questioning look, so Bola explains further.

" I did something Similar when I was your age, I saved an old man, and took him to a clinic but when the police arrived, they almost blamed me for the incident, they accused me of hurting the Man, when in reality I was just an innocent helper "

" Really? " Kim asked, slightly surprised and a bit afraid.

" Yes, I will tell you what to say and how to answer the police before they come, but right now, call your mother and tell her where you are so she won't worry. " Bola advised.

She calls the second time, her mother does not answer so she calls again then her Mum picks the call at third ring.

" Hello Mum? " kim says.

" Kim where are you? It's ten minutes past eight, aren't you done at the coffee shop? I've been waiting for you, come home now. "

" Don't worry Mum, I'll Soon be home. "

She assured her mother.

" All right, but wait, where are you? Are you still at the coffee shop? " Her mother asked.

" No mum, I'm at the hospital."

Kim answered.

" Hospital? Why? What happened? " She asked, slightly bothered and confused.

Kim says as she gets up, about to leave the hospital.

Bola holds her hands and says.

" Don't go yet, stay a little, I'm sure the... "

Before she could finish her sentence, She was interrupted by the voice of a man.

" Excuse me miss. "

A Tall, middle aged man said as he approached them.

Both Women turned to see two, young, men dressed in police uniform.

" My name is Mister Ola Kunde,

And with me, is my colleague Detective Chidu. "

He says as he holds up his ID Card.

" We are police men from the Zanvi department and we are to here to ask you a few questions" Kunde informed them.

" Good day miss. "

Chidu greeted and asked.

" Which one of you is Kim Sumin ? "

The police men stared at both women, expecting an answer.

Kunde turned to Bola and said.

" Ma'am you can excuse us. We would like to speak with her privately. " He suggested.

" Sure " Bola says with a nod and gives Kim a reassuring smile. Before walking away.
