Confusing feelings

"Now I'll make sure you work hard" said Lizzie and winked at him and continued to clear the board.

John's heart skipped a beat as he looked at her he didn't want to stop looking at her.

Her eyes were so beautiful that he wanted to keep staring into those pearls all the life. He wished time would stop now.

Realizing he was staring at her for a while now which was unnoticed by Lizzie, he averted his gaze to look into the air to calm down his dancing heart. He didn't know why he felt the way like never before.

"Whatever!" he said and scurried out of the classroom.

Lizzie ran after him in order to catch up with him to walk beside him. Both were calm as they were strolling towards the teacher's cabin.

John couldn't stop himself from sneaking a peek at her every few seconds. Lizzie didn't miss the glares she was receiving. "Why are you peeking at me?" John choked on being caught red-handed and caughed. He looked away to avoid her gaze and wished he could dig a hole and bury himself in it.

But he was not the type to accept defeat. "Me? Peeking at you? You must be dreaming. Or.....do you want me stare at you?"he countered her.

Lizzie stopped where she was, widening her eyes and scoffed not believing what she just heard. "You really think greatly of yourself"she said narrowing her eyes at him.

"Of course and that's because I am great and handsome" he said confidently taking pride making Lizzie roll her eyes. Soon they reached the cabin.

Clearing throat, "Excuse me sir" Lizzie spoke making Mr.Smith who was busy in his paper work turn his head to look at them."Come in and take your seats" said the teacher with a cold expression. Lizzie and John both sat in the chairs which were in front of the teacher's table.

"John, do you even know how low you grades are? You have excellent scores in all the extra curricular activities except for the pen-paper tests. I think you very well know that only the external credits are not enough to get you into a top university. I am really worried about your future".

John kept calm and didn't speak a word. He knew if he speaks it would only raise his anger. He lowered his face not daring to even look at him.

Lizzie was silently listening to him not wanting to speak unless she wants him to be more raged.

Looking at the mute faces, Mr.Smith sighed "Lizzie, I want you to study with him and help him get through the exams." before he could continue with his words John looked up and said "But sir -" "No buts and ifs John. Do as I say." Mr.Smith told sternly cutting John in the middle.

"Yes sir" John answered indifferently. "Then, I will trust him with you Lizzie. You both may leave now." continued to do his work. "We will do as you say sir" Lizzie answered for both of them making John roll his eyes.

Mr.Smith nodded his in agreement and took one last look at John before continuing with his work. John and Lizzie left the school and started walking home.

Lizzie Cooper and John Taylor were friends through their parents. David Taylor and Robert Cooper were bestfriends since their childhood. They did their schooling together and then made their ways into separate careers. But they never let any obstacle let it be their studies or professions come in between them. They were more like soul brothers and took share in each other's thick and thin.

Lizzie is very hard working and lives up to her father's name while John is more kind of a indifferent and aloof person. Their parents' friendship passed on to them like inheritance.

While walking home,John was lost in his thoughts not at all caring about the exams. He was still confused about the feeling he had towards her earlier, how he stared at her.

Breaking the silence between them Lizzie spoke "Where do you want to study? Your home or mine? Choice is yours." John who heard this snapped out of his thoughts and sighed.

"Mine" He wanted to refuse again but he did not bother to as there would be no use in refusing. "Okay as you wish". They reached the Taylor mansion after some time.
