7 days before.......

As Melissa struggled to lean her new iphone 13 on her handbag to take a picture for as Kirabo has refused to help, Kirabo watched her intently trying to hide her amusement by pretending to read 'and the mountains echoed' on a sunny day at a commemoration center but what else would she have used as an excuse to escape a tragedy of being the queen bee photographer?Nada!

Now Melissa climbed the national monument to get a good background! this is not nice, Kirabo thought, but she wasn't going to mention anything to avoid being trapped by the result, Melissa positioned herself between the copper carved soldiers and the copper craved victims and started taking shots.

Should I call the security guard and say that there is a lunatic on loose violating the center regulation and pretend to be a passer by, Kirabo thought, or sit here pretend that there is nothing going on and if she even tries to claim I am her sister say that we don't have tall genes in our family or join her but the second option is more realistic.

To her luck Ben came back from the nearby cafeteria his eyes widened after seeing the traumatic scene, he dropped the fastfood on the bench next to Kirabo and went for his girlfriend, Kirabo closed the book and took one samosa in the bags took a bite waiting to see how the scene was going to unfold.

"Melissa, I don't know what drug you are taking nor do I want to know it but all I know is that you have to get down before they chase us out and pay heavy fine not to include a bed waiting for you in jail for using the government property inappropriately" he ranted while he was checking if no one was in sight.

"Why don't you just pull her down to save us trouble?" I suggested enjoying seeing them in hysteria

"Don't even think about it, it took me a lot of effort go climb up here" she said threateningly to ben who was going to put my idea into action.

"Then jump for godsake "he cried out in torment

"I can't, I am nauseating" she cried back.

"Don't tell me that you climbed up there without a plan to get down" I provided again trying to get more funny reaction from them.

"You are not helping" they answered at the same time.

"I noticed"

"I don't even know why you are troubled all of a sudden, I see no security guard nearby, why don't you join? Breaking rules is always enjoyable" Melissa added as she gave him puppy eyes with that smoky eye shadow she applied hastily in the morning.

"Do you even remember that I am a corporal?"

"I know that deep down you want it and someone, come on we can always bribe them"

Ben looked around, he let out a long sigh and climbed the statue looking unsure.

How does someone apply an application to unexist now?

Can someone remind me who were the oldest here or remind them that one was a corporal in RDF and other was studying medicine in UR? Kirabo thought.

She face palmed herself in disappointment.

"Future generation of rwanda" she muttered bitterly.

"The things I do for you melissa just because I love you" Ben added with a dramatic sigh and melissa pecked him.

How cheesy! another reason reason she was still single. Cheesiness

"Just get down already" she yelled to the cozy couple who were in a cheesy competition of pecks and taking other pictures together.

"Stop being a partyblooper, you can join if you want" melissa yelled back.

After two minutes Kirabo was bored and decided to play with them but what could be more fun than to see them hyperventilating? Nothing.

"A security guard" she shouted feigning panic,the couple immediately jump even melissa who said she was nauseating was the first one to break the code without any difficulty.

"Where is he?" Ben asked still looking around.

At that Kirabo bursted out laughing that she started crying she shook that her whole body was trembling,the couple realized they were tricked and threw daggers at her with their eyes.

"Bribing ....them..." She said in between laughs "nauseating....you should have seen your faces ...it was hilarious, you are really a match made from heaven"

Before she could laugh even more she felt hands pricking both her ears melissa and ben was pulling her ears.

"Auch, that hurts a lot, are you out of your minds?just let me go already" she cried out but her torturers had other ideas like smacking her in the head.

"You should have thought about this before you played with your elders" ben scolded fatherly as he smacked her again.

"Auch, elders? my foot! elders who decided to play hide and seek with the security guards, why am I blessed with your existence?" she cried again but they even pulled harder and the sarcasm wasn't lost to them.

"I thought I taught you manners as your big sister I thought I set a good example" melissa added and she also smacked her head , kirabo thought that now her head had increased it's size.

She snorted.

"Manners?you mean making out in public on a national statue especially infront of an underage baby?" She got another smack.

"That tongue of yours will kill you or save you" ben added.

She looked at him affectionately.

"Thanks for the compliment but can't we have a proper conversation without you pulling my ears or smacking my head as if I am at fault here?" She wanted to add that if they were reasonable and mature enough they stop it but caught her tongue.

The couple realized that they were still pulling her ears and looked at each they pulled even more before they let her go, she cursed and they sat beside her.

"Such a nice conversation we had" she added sarcastically.

They ignored her and devoured into the snack bag they both took milkshake but Kirabo took the coffee she have ordered the couple looked at her like a foreign creature.

"What now?"

"It's almost 90 degrees " ben said calmly.

"And it is really out of fashion to drink hot coffee on a sunny day" melissa added while handing her an extra milkshake.

Kirabo refused to take it.

"So what is it the first time you saw someone doing it? You really should visit other countries like sahara dessert instead of making out all day" she took a sip on ber coffee she wanted to take the milkshake but as stubborn as she was she wasn't giving them the satisfaction.

"As if you even ever left Kigali yourself and to add to your half learnt information sahara dessert isn't a country" Melissa retorted

"I didn't"

"I didn't forgodsake and for your information I drink coffee to warm my whole body" I said hoping to shut them up but of course that's about zero percent to happen.

"I agree with that especially that cold heart of yours" ben remarked

"Oh mister corporal just because I don't agree with your action which you think is cute doesn't make me a cold hearted bitch" I replied drily.

"You never let anyone have the last word do you?"

"Not really "

"I thought so, talking about never going out of kigali I have a suprise for you" his face immediately lit up.

"Spill the beans honey" melissa squealed.

Kirabo rolled her eyes because the surprise was obvious, going out of kigali but said nothing to spoil his new profound excitement.

"We are going to lake kivu next week"

Melissa hugged him out of excitement Kirabo zoned out and started to think about their usual situation how simply complicated.

Like how she had a crush on Ben but still wonder how she had it when she always saw him at his worst not in his best manner she also knew that Ben treated her like a small annoying sister but she was also happy about them together just a black goddess and black god.

Little did she know that her sister knew about her little obsession with her boyfriend but melissa didn't take it to heart because anyone would crush on ben from his cute chocolate face to his funny and kind character and one thing she was sure about was that ben loved Kirabo as a small sister and Kirabo wasn't a backstabbing bitch.

"And if I say we, I mean that all of us are going so don't look away"Ben suddenly said interrupting her train of thoughts he was looking straight at her.

"..... Really?"

He raised an eyebrow.

She didn't want to go,she always felt like a third wheel, she always wished they could get time alone but the crazy couple never allowed that they always threatened her to get out of her room to accompany her because they thought she would end up totally unsocial.

But to the outsiders it would seem as if ben was dating both of except the fact that he was intimate to one.

Kirabo picked the milkshake and put aside the coffee on instincts.

"Patience is not my virtue kira" he demanded impatiently. Melissa watched the interaction blankly.

"I actually have to attend a coding camp" naked lie this vacation was all about sleeping and getting fat.

"You are lying" melissa finally spoke up narrowing her eyes.

"I am not"

"You are "

"I am not lying"

"You are"

"Tsk you don't even know what a coding camp is"

"I know it because you proposed it to mom and she refused to pay the fees"

"I can pay for myself"

Silence

They had a mini staring contest with melissa raising slightly eyebrow as in we-all-know-how-broke-you-are-just-admit-your-defeat-maybe-you-could-yourself-find-a-sugardad-at-kivu.

"What's so bad about trying to mind your own business for once?" Kirabo asked after an exaggerated eye roll.

Melissa smiled. "There is no fun in minding my own business"

"Good luck in your profession then"

"Saying yes is always an positive option" Ben chimed in.

"Who said it?" Kirabo asked and Ben enthusiastically pointed to himself.

"Sister did you forget that I have lake allergy" she added hoping that they would buy it but after saying that she felt stupid, a lake allergy? really? that's what she could come up with?

The coupled fell into fits of chuckles.

"You've never been near a lake and if you did behind my back you could always stay in a beautiful lodge he will rent reading all day isn't it Ben?"

Ben nodded enthusiastically.

"So yes?" Ben asked again.

"Is there any other option?"

"Of course,there is" melissa added.

"Which one?"

"Yes"

She felt skeptical about this whole trip

"You know I can refuse right?"

"Yes you can but you know that I can burn up your little library and toast you on the fire" melissa added sweetly.

"Are you blackmailing me?"

"No just a reminder"

"You can't"

Melissa raises her neatly done eyebrow again as to say try-me-bitch.

For a moment she thought it was an empty threat but with melissa she can even kiss an angel but yet her mother always saw her as an angel if she just heard her right now.

Kirabo sighed and stayed silent.

"She is going" melissa said because she always mistook silence for a 'yes'.

"Are you two ever going to leave me alone?"

"Untill you get married" ben replied.

"And that is less likely to happen with that antisocial look on your face" Melissa added.

"So you are stuck with us"

"Good to know your affirmation of my future"Benitha said sarcastically as she sipped on the milkshake.

"Good to see that you have listened to our advice and drank the milkshake good for your health " Ben have her a victorious grin.

Kirabo spit the milkshake.

"I just finished my coffee we can't let money go to waste"

"Oh we can see" melissa said as she shook the cup of coffee infront so she can feel that the liquid was still inside.

The couple now laughed heartily.

Just like that they made a decision which would change their life forever.
